this fight is not hard if u just buy the goddamn parts from old man bal. u have the money unless u ran from every battle. why does everyone say this battle is hard i beat this game when i was in 8th grade in 1999. my all time favorite game though.

Probably because some people don't buy the engine upgrade, not realizing that engines determine attack power as well as fuel. You really need the extra attack to overcome Calamity's defense.

But yeah, if you upgrade then he's cake.

I'unno. This fight is really luck dependant. Even WITH the upgrades you can get ass-shitty luck and he'll keep using his missiles; and boy no amount of upgrades are gonna soak up that damage.

LOL, my disc freezes during a boss, but when i came back to look at gear, i was soo amazed at myself, weltall had like only old circuit,that explains why i was struggling when i was playing.. i was REALLY young that time, so yeah, i feel pretty dumb, struggling against a boss that is simple, although i did the engine upgrades

True, Ive been playing it on my psp its Badass i can definitly say this game is in my top 5 best RPG of all time.

1.) chrono trigger

2.) Grandia 2

3.) Skies of Arcadia 4.) Xenogears <---- this could easily overlap the 3rd game

5.)MArio & luigh the 1st one on GBA

This was one of 4 fights in the entire game that I disliked with a passion >=/

Calamity because... well he has some pretty cheap moves; Redrum because I was unlucky enough to have him spam Murder constantly; Orobolus because I was confused as to wtf was going on and got constantly owned; Deus fully powered, because I believe in hard final bosses ;)

Is a good challenging to improved the player ability... but u spend a lot of time for training and killing ''Calimity'' lol.

When i fight with him I was in lvl 19 (Fei) & lvl 17 (Bart) y use the upgrades and i kill him really easy adn fast, much fast than you lol. But if good if u want to improved u abilities.

I loved this game, and yet remember almost nothing about it. It's about time to dust off the old PSX and break out the Xenogears... either that or emulate, as I do own the game and thus it would be legal to emulate. Is there a working and good PSX emulator? I'm not looking for ISOs, I have the game, I just want something to play it.

You make no sense at all. Why would you spend the eons of time it must have taken to power level your characters to level 22 in that cave in lieu of upgrading the gear equipment? What is the point?

It takes maybe 1-2 hours to level up to 22 in the cave. And you answered your own question: the point is to beat the game without upgrades, what's so difficult to understand about that?

My apologies. I didn't realize this was a series of video challenges until after I posted. I see the point now. This would make things a lot more challenging and I don't mean just Calamity. I can think of a few parts where I would probably fail miserably.

@jinggo78 If it makes you feel any better I leveled Fei and Elly high enough to get the xx combo in the forest at the beginning of the game. The only reason i did this is my game was hung at the part where the ygg zooms in on weltall on top of the Aveh transport.

Wow! I must've been REALLY lucky... The third Swordknight battle has given me the most trouble so far. Until I eschewed XenoManx's advice and gave Fei Power Magic & 2 Magnetic Coats, then beat him & Clawknight on the first try ^.^

Yeah. well I have to say you're battle with calamity had him barely use calamity, Plus you're wild smile lasted longer. It makes it easier that way. HE LOOOVES using that calamity attack.

I was getting 'em like one every four or five. But stealing from Magic Vices gave me a shitload of Ethers. It's much more efficient in the forests though since Serpions appear in pairs.
