  • what does he say raca which means you fool

  • @atomvunis he says hraka which basically means sh**

  • I believe Hazel's voice actor, John Hurt, also voiced Pascal in the English dub of Felidae.

  • My mom an I were watching V for Vendetta when she told me that the chancellor (John Hurt) was the voice of Hazel. I didn't believe her until now. Lol.

  • i watched this when i was like 3 1/2...

  • Hazel = John Hurt. Epic.

  • I believe kids should be introduced to this kind of stuff young instead of Dora barney or Thomas the train I was introduced to this movie when I was five and all I had was a few chills at gorey scenes give your child a taste of real life reality

  • @Talenthewolf12 Loved this movie for years. It was my favorite of a vast selection of movies in my grandfather's library since I was about three. I understand it more now, and love it just as much. The book definitely boosted my love for the movie. Do I seem stalkery? Then again, my friends stalk me on youtube as well.

  • you complain about cartoons that deal with death and violence not being for children. Than when they begin to grow up you complain about them being ignorant and stupid to the world around them. Pick a fucking side.

  • Animals besides rabbits talk in this? 'Bout time! Now all we need is a singing bear who disembowels humans.

  • I always lol when Bigwig is making fun of Fiver's constant paranoia and feelings of imminent doom "I have a funny feeling in my toe"

  • i just realized the moving little time dot thingy is a SNOWFLAKE!!!!!!!! wooooowwwwwwwww. . .. . .

  • @GorgeGirl03 I love how in this Film they manage to capture all the sounds of Nature in the background. If your listerning to this on Headphones, if you turn the volume up a bit at 04:00 when Hazel wakes up, just the sounds of the Birds twittering and the Rooster Crowing in the background makes you kinda feel if your on a Farm in the Morning.

  • @MrGeicos I know!!!!!! The music, the voice, how terrified Bigwig is!! It scares the living hell out of me, too!!

  • Out of the whole movie, I think the part that terrified me the most was when Captain Holly started calling them then came out of the bushes. I don't know why, it just scared me to death.

  • i found you bigwig...i found you.....

    TAG! your it!

  • i used to wacth this movie to go to sleep when i was 3-5 years old. Now im 13 and i still like this movie!!! THANKS GRANDMA!!!!

  • I Am getting this movie for myself for Christmas, along with plague dogs. They are two amazing movies, as well as books.

  • "I bet you can't run at all, you pie eyed saucer licking scrat scraper." LOOOOOOOL

  • 6:46 Hazel walk in midair via animating flaw.

  • "My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today."

  • Where's Bluebell and Pimpernel who was supposed to get torn apart by cowslip?

  • WHAT.

    And no Strawberry, either.

Girl, I know you playin' me right now.

  • "He's hurt ,look at that wound on his shoulder!"

    No Shit..

  • did that hag name her cat.......Tac?

  • fiver is awesome but a wuss

  • It is surprising how hard it is the get this thing now in South-Africa.

  • My niece loves bunnies and she is 5. I think I should introduce her to the real world by showing her this :)

  • @gameaddictwn she's just 5 D:

i'm 13 and this movie kinda shock me...

she's just a little girl....show her this movie, but not so young

  • @bollodecanela People treat kids nowadays like they've got no spines. I was raised on classic horror films, and it didn't do me any harm.

  • @thePlagueCat i was raised watching disney movies, but my parents always told me the real history/ending...

  • Yeah, he is still alive!

  • No! Not bigwig, he isn't bad, just smart

  • this movie is just harsh reality about mother nature ^,^

  • See that, Bigwig?

    That's Karma.

    :D

  • This was one of our reading books in year 6 and we watched the movie as an end of term treat the same year.

  • I'm pretty sure I would've been highly disturbed as a little girl if I saw that rabbit with a bloody mouth... Just saying.

  • @MidoriKohaku Only you.

  • @HeritageWolf Wow you are so lucky ^^* My grandad made the Storm Trooper and Darth vaders outfits for Starwars. V-V It is really too bad I hate stuff like Starwars.

  • Wow. So kids younger then me could take this back then...we really need to strengthen our selves up here, I feel like I'm weak. I mean, I barely remember this from when I was little...

  • 5:31 Hazel makes a rather odd jump

  • i have to say, when I was little whenever I whatched this I was happy I'm a vegatarian...

  • I'm 14 years old and this is pretty freaking good! I completely approve of this (just don't show it to parents these days or it WILL be banned!).

  • When I first saw the movie as a kid, 25 or more years ago, I thought Bigwig meant "that no-good biting wire!" How things change!

  • Comment removed

  • I think they mixed and mingled a few parts of the book in this film

  • @SmartieRockz they did. its kinda obvious, isn't it? If only they used the book like a script, and rip parts out.

  • holy schneiki how dark can a movie get, this is a kids movie, jease

  • I'm 12 and I can take this,everyone else I know would be soft & squishy

  • @2002tiif ha, i first saw this when i was like 6! and i think i'm more disturbed now 12 years on...

  • @Rosehawka Because the world we live in is becomig desrupted, just like this movie.

  • @2002tiif i was more thinking of the dying rabbits... i think it may have been this and stories like it that long ago made me distrustful of bureaucracy, authority and, housing developments

  • @Rosehawka I see. I'm reading Watership down now and its sad..

  • Did they actually fail to explain the deal behind that warren? Ugh.

  • "Let's go to the farm, it'll be perfectly safe."

    "Maybe we should all go...."

    "No, just you and me."

    That's not suspicious at all....O_o

  • I wish MY cat were that obedient.

  • Ahhh!! It freaked me out when Bigwig got caught in a wire.. And I was eating during this scene and now it made me loose my appetite. :(

  • This movie is pretty gorey in some scenes

  • Hazel is the voice of Aragorn from Bakshi's Lord of the Rings!!! Awesome!

  • @BelovedCaptain Better than having an alien pop out of your stomach.

  • @BelovedCaptain

    John Hurt :)

  • @BelovedCaptain And he's Oxley in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! O.O

  • @BelovedCaptain and Bigwig's voice played Boromir in BBC's radio drama and also possibly Bakshi's

  • @BelovedCaptain yeah actually Bigwig played Boromir in both Radio and Bakshi's movie along with John Hurt playing Aragorn

  • This cartoon wasnt meant for kids, just like Felidae and Plague Dogs. -.-

  • @Foxziewolf this movie was meant for anyone and everyone.

  • @Foxziewolf OHHHHH well, im watching it and i watched plague dogs AND felidae also.

  • @Foxziewolf This cartoon is ment for kids aswell and unless a kid isnt afraid of evrything he/she see then its just fine for them to watch it my cousins that are 4 and 6 have no problem at all watching it and have seen it several times without problem so its just foie for kids and im 19 and enjoy it aswell so i say it work well to watch no matter what age you are witch most of the cartoons do aswell

  • @Foxziewolf just watched Felidae for the first time because of your comment. :) Plague Dogs is next.

  • @Foxziewolf

Not for young kids, but as a teen, I find this very... interesting.

  • "oh god this will be lame" then after they see the blood, they will be like " HOLY HELL" Because the girls are raised of Disney (Hannah montanna, good luck Charlie....all that junk) and all the guys like chowder and flapjack.... Hopefully my teacher has not seen the movie (because she might not let us watch it ...>> ) Long comment is long..

  • My comment was cut short......:L any who... Going to continue it..

  • I doubt this film was meant for children..(but I heard it was rated U in...Europe I think? ) I am most likely one the youngest here, 12 (saying my age wasn't really necessary) And I'm thinking of finding this movie (Well, I have no idea where it's at, so I will probably get it off eBay ) And show it to my class one year. Its my favorite book, and movie, despite it being depressing; and plus I would like to see my classmates reactions to the blood scenes, with them thinking "oh god this will be

  • wouldnt it be amazing if this comment got heaps of likes :D

  • WUSSALLTHATTHEN???

  • Book > Movie > T.V series.

Am I the only one that feels the television adaptations of WD are awful?

  • @Ikiloshi

For it's time, I respect it. But I want a new one really badly.

  • @Fuleadeare In THIS day and age...they'd either ruin it, or make it just a bunch of gretuatus violence which would ruin it anyway. BUT if they did it RIGHT with todays amazing CI it would be EPIC

  • DIdn't think this was a movie for kids. Rewatching it because all the death and blood terrified me as a kid. Love it.

  • When that rabbit said "The Black Rabbit!" I couldn't help but think of the Killer Rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail XD Even though he's a white fluffy bunny ^^

  • "He's hurt. Look at the wound on his shoulder."

Guess they ain't notice all the other shit wrong with him lol

  • NIGGGGGER NIGGER NIGGER1!!!! BURTON!!!

  • @MrAndrewkek YOU CRAZY NIGGER DONT GO SAYING NIGGER

  • clover is one sexy bitch.

  • i am always gonna cry when my cat brings me dead baby bunnies now...

  • haha, Hazel risking his life for bunny pussy :D

  • 6:52 chesire cat!!!! :3

  • Poor violet. :(

....was violet even a female in the book? Or was s/he there at all? >_>

  • @Fuleadeare Violet was never in the book. =/

  • @Fuleadeare no, she's not even in the book. =P

  • that snare looks so painfull i can almost feel myself choking...

  • 4:23 - 4:42 I would have said hell no >o<

  • @shadexknight aha that part reminds me so much like me and my older brother, lol he'd act like everythin was fine even tho he knew it was dangerous lol

  • My Girlffriends' Grandfather animated Hazel & Fiver. He did the Seagull and The Dog aswell ^_^ isn't that cool? He did some of the other rabbits and a little bit of the scenery too. Eddie/ Edric Radage is his name.

Just thought I'd share that with you.

  • @HeritageWolf A late reply but, if you get the chance, please say a 'Thank you' to him from the Netherlands. We remember the film and/or book (I'm not sure when the names changed) as "Beestenbos is Boos" (Animal forest is angry) and "Waterschapsheuvel" (Watership hill) and all of the televised parts made such an impact, at least for me.

  • @HeritageWolf Your girlfriend's grandfather did a splendid job!

  • @HeritageWolf He's shaped my life. Please thank him!!!

  • @HeritageWolf and he did a good job :)

  • @HeritageWolf even more awesome: he worked on yellow submarine

  • @HeritageWolf my grandpa is Jesus. I can find the proof.

  • I have a funny feeling in my toe...

I love when Bigwig mocks Fiver LOL

  • 17 cats disliked this because rats are getting too clever.

  • wtf is wrong with the cat, is it retarded or something?

  • ahh shits kicking off.

  • wtf is wrong with the person who made this

  • I adore bigwigs hair

  • is the cat's name cat?

  • @MushroomAlice No, it's Tab.

  • so if they're up on a hill, why is it called a down lol?

  • 17 cats dislike this video.

  • And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why self-locking snares are illegal. It's a shame they don't specify, because you could leave with the image that snares are cruel.

In fact, if you ever hear of research done on rabbits or foxes or similar animals, where they put transmitters on them or weigh and tag them, they will be caught with snares and released unharmed.

The joy of writing a 5000 word essay on the pros and cons of snaring techniques... *sigh*

  • Great movie, although it's hard to relate between the novel and film as so many parts are skipped/re-arranged.

  • and look at the scratches on his face and butt i mean those are bad but nothing compared to that shoulder.

  • god! it looked like bigwig was rabid w/ bloody spit when he was dying and why did the flies show up so quick

  • @Specklestar1 certain types of carass beetle and blowfly can show up within seconds to a few minutes of death

  • Am I the only one that doesn't mind how the cat is drawn? I mean, I've seen much worse...

  • im fucked

  • it is different than book but still good

  • I see a couple negative comments on the animation of certain of the animals. Fair points, though I think most of the characters, major and minor, are pretty well drawn. What makes this one of the best animated movies, however, is not the animal figures or expressions, but the backgrounds and use of light.

  • Best. Booty Call. Evar.

  • This is probably the creepiest cartoon ever. I love the book but I doubt I'll let my child read the book or watch the movie until she's at least ten.

  • Love this, it is my favorite movie (I have a funny feeling in my toe!) and I watch it all the time!

  • i always thought it was funny that they rated this movie "G"

  • @junebird24 Back in the day kids were stronger than the punks today. They understood about life and death.

  • @Egryn YEAH got that right man

  • @Egryn How do you know kids today don't? And by "kids" you probably mean teenagers - not surprising considering how patronizing the older generation are.

  • @FrazzleAndTheWolf @FrazzleAndTheWolf I have noticed that we are a much softer people now a days. We are teaching our children that and it is sad. Did you know the military has stress cards? Yes stress cards if someone gets too stressed in Basic training they can pull out a card and the Drill Instructor needs to leave them alone. Yup becasue if they are ever caught by the enemy and interrogated the POW can pull out the card and the enemy will stop for a half our.

  • @Egryn But I'm not talking about the military. That's a stupid example for the point I'm trying to make. Our first world countries may be a lot better off nowadays, but that in no way means that young people do not experience suffering and pain. They know a hell of a lot more than you think they do, too.

"Back in the day" is incredibly patronizing beyond belief. You simply cannot profess to know the lives and minds of millions of young people.

  • @Egryn My sentemence excatly ^__^

  • @Egryn Datta Good thing?

  • Read the book, Bigwig was said to be a disgusting sight after the snare.

Vomit and blood, matted fur. Supposedly, he didn't even look like a rabbit anymore.

You guys need to stop whining about the film.

  • so.....what was wrong with the emo red rabbits?

  • OK OK OK i actually think that the cat on 7:12, is really good animating, just not in this realistic movie

  • this is how cartoons should be...no sugar coated explosions, no cutey-deuty oh la la fake deaths...this is how the real world operates!

  • When i first made my brother watch this he was complaining that this was a kids film, when he saw Bigwig snared, he was horrified! Talk about a fast learning curve...

  • "No good biting wire"

  • that bit with the snare terrified me as a kid... its still difficult to watch... just horrific!

  • I've never seen bigwig afraid...

  • 16 people are part of cowslips warren!

  • For anyone who doesn't know, the same animation company made a second feature length animated movie based on a book by the same author. It's called "Plague Dogs", and it makes THIS look like "Bambi". If you want to cry yourself to sleep tonight, you should watch it. (Seriously, it's amazing.)

  • Lol that cat looks like a tiger.

  • I fucking love rabbits. I have one called coco. <3

  • @hellohellomsn22 My rabbit's name is Rabito :D (scut)

and this movie makes me sad :C

  • the dog could be rowf's brother :)

  • "What's all that then?!"

Reminds me of the British security guys in Hitman: Contracts. XD

  • I don't think they studied cats enough before drawing that cat.

  • "Im in a mist, everythings baaad, I have a funny feeling in my toe!" Lol!

  • *in the middle of drawing Bigwig choking* "hey do you think this is gonna freak kids out?" ".....nah"

  • @MrBradleighB KILL THEM

  • @MrBradleighB the book wasnt made for small children, so what makes you think this film was? in other words, the ppl who worked with this film had no need to think how kids might react to their bloody scenes..

  • What kind of a snare is that?! Really. I've never seen one like that.

  • @Shenlung67 i think it's a fox trap

  • My heart has joined the Thousand....

  • @cmc10101 makes you go cold doesn't it??

  • @ThreeWordsFirstWord Makes me cry. Every time.

  • Pipkin is so cute xD

  • Wow... I bet Bigwig saw the Black Rabbit of death just then! It was pretty scary when he was frothing blood. Scary when they find Capt. Holly.

  • You have to read the book to really understand the film. Good adaptation of a brilliant book, in my opinion this and the plague dogs are adams' only good ones and they're both fantastic.

  • @TheTittySmacker yeah it is a good film, as one critic said, the adaptation gets to 'the beating heart of the film'. although it omits a few subplots

  • The tripwire is where this film starts getting distinctly unsettling

  • @opalescence84 could not agree with you more....yet i am still watching this film at 1 in the morning lol!

  • @ThreeWordsFirstWord creepy so am i

  • @spartinmancondoms mmm? what do you mean? cant remeber the comment lol!

  • I've gotta read the book.... Totally. I didn't even know this movie was this awesome. Mom speaked of it, but I didn't really care. So wrong I was... Hope I can find it in Sweden. I found Redwall...

  • Keehar, I miss you so.

  • Was it just me, or where Hazle and fiver BROWN at the start and now they're GREY... >>?

  • @ThePixiePooch I think it was trying to show the lighting, or lack of as it were.

  • Definitely glad I read the book first...
