I'm playing through all the Madden Football games on the Sega Genesis, and Madden '92 is currently my favorite. This is really the game where the series hits its stride; games are fast and tense, full of surprises and exciting moments. The feel of the game is quite similar to NHL Hockey, which was also released in 1991. Fortunately, you can download all these Genesis games for free, or score the cartridges for a couple bucks. Either way, it's a big win.

There was a play I used to run in Madden '92 that was unstoppable, both against AI and against humans (as long as I didn't run the well dry).. I'd select 'Cross Pass' and then roll out to the left sideline and make a hard throw down the left sideline to the left wideout, who would always be wide open. Good for 20 yards every time.

That wasn't the way the 'Cross Pass' was designed to be run but it worked. Call it an exploitation play.

It's still better than Madden 09, 2k5 with updated and classic rosters is phenomenal for the old xbox. I can't calculate the amount of hours I played Madden on Genesis though, I still have Madden Championship Edition as well as this game and others.
