Yet another rip-off win by Lakers against the Celtics. Seems the only way they could ever beat them is by either ripping them off by way of bad calls like this one(actually two bad calls) or playing them when they're hurt or short-handed.
@Seaverful Yap yap yap...you lost pissant. Nothing like chowdaheads trolling on a Laker fan's site. You want to get your Celtic fill, go to all the other racists that anoint Bird over Magic and Jordan despite having a lesser resume. And STFU
@cbaldwinjr First of all we didn't lose WE GOT RIPPED OFF AND ROBBED fuckstick. Second of all....lesser resume?????...are you fucken kidding me???. Let's compare Bird's resume to Magic's in their first 7 years. Rookie of the Year Bird over Magic...First Team NBA-Bird 7 times Magic only 4 times. Championships Bird 3, Magic 3 MVPs Bird 3 Magic........NONE!!!! After the 86' season Magic started to catch up to him...before that....Larry Hands down!!!!...And I won't even mention how Bird punked and
@cbaldwinjr and owned Jordan....TOTALLY....head to head competition Bird 23 and 11 vs Jordan....including 14 in a row. 1986-87 season Bird was 9-0 vs Jordan..lets repeat that shall we...9-0. Bird...32 game improvement his rookie year for the Celtics...Jordan's rookie year...a mere 11...3 most important categories Points, Rebounds, Assists, Bird beats him in 2 out of the 3, not to mention a higher lifetime 3 point fg %.....I think maybe you should STUP!!!!!!!!
@Seaverful Yeah...you're a clown. Jordan didn't have Cowens and Maxwell and Archibald on his squad either. But I guess their injuries and the distractions of Wicks and Rowe and Bad News Barnes didn't mean anything from 79 right? Only Bird...
And as you try to omit, Bird built that 'h2h' advantage while having Parish, McHale, DJ, Walton, etc...all HOFs on his team at one point. Jordan's best teammate was Orlando Woolridge his first 2-3 years. Give me a break.
@cbaldwinjr Wow...this is tough...this is like arguing with Perry Mason...Yeah you're right Perry..he had Cowens...in his last year...just a tad past his prime...and he had Tiny and Maxwell..they were so great they won all of 29 games the year before. And by the way ClaraBell...the only difference between the 78-79 and 79-80 roster was the addition of Larry Bird and the subtraction of Bob McAdoo........All of a sudden I'm visualizing you singing in a famous movie..IF I HAD ONLY HAD A BRAIN.....
@Seaverful So Wicks and Rowe, two club cancers weren't released? Or did Bird invent that on the HBO doc on Magic and Bird? Marvin Barnes wasn't let go? Did that just become a figment of my imagination? As for Bird's numbers...umm, Magic had arguably THE GREATEST CENTER OF ALL TIME! Yeah, he was going to give Kareem the ball you simp. Yet in the FINALS, he won two MVPs. Who was the MVP of the '81 series? Yeah...MAXWELL. No one said Bird won the '84 Final, Magic lost it.
@cbaldwinjr The fact that you've just exploded with 7 retarded and incredibly oxymoronic posts PROVES that everything I'm saying is true. WTF are you talking about??? The fact remains they won 29 games the year before Bird got there and 61 with Bird...talk about spinning shit to fit YOUR arguments..you spin better than Bill O'Reilly..I don't give a fuck who they cut....they won 29 games in 78-79 end of story!!! And you're right...Maxwell was the MVP in 81 because unlike his BALLHOGNESS.....
@cbaldwinjr (meaning Jordan of course) Bird actually passed the ball, got his teammates involved, and unlike his TRAVELNESS,made everybody better. Maxwell has ALWAYS given Bird credit for making him a MUCH better ballplayer. Then you really shoot yourself in the foot when you say Bird didn't win the 84 finals...HE WAS THE FUCKEN MVP!!!...You give Maxwell credit for winning the MVP but not Bird!!!..better go back to law school Perry, because your arguing skills are incredibly self-defeating!!!
@cbaldwinjr For the record Sydney Wicks did not play for the Celtics in 78-79, he played for the clippers. And Curtis Rowe only played in 50 games for them that year. And I wouldn't exactly call them cancers, they helped lead the 77' Celtics to the ECF against Dr. J and the Sixers and lost in a grueling 7 games..BECAUSE HAVLICEK WAS HURT!! As far as me turning the 79-80 Celtics into garbage, I assure you I had nothing to do with it. They finished in last and won 29 games....they WERE garbage!!!
@Seaverful You'll just spin everything to fit your argument...but Bird and Magic played three times in the Finals...Magic won two. Magic has five rings, Bird three. Magic's Lakers had a head to head advantage in the regular season as well. Oh yeah...Bird actually played with MORE Hall of Famers (parish, mchale, dj, walton, archibald) than Magic (jabbar, worthy, mcadoo). I didn't count Cowens since you turned the entire team into garbage. If stats tell the tale, Chamberlain is the GOAT
@cbaldwinjr For the record, between 80-81 and 85-86 the Celtics beat the Lakers more times than they beat them. Those 6 seasons were the Celtics best and HEALTHIEST. And in 79-80 Magic, to quote you "had the greatest Center ever" Bird did not have McHale or Parrish yet. And in 86-87 and 87-88, three of the Lakers wins were by one point. So it's no where near as lobsided as you Laker fans think. Chamberlain is not the Goat, he won 2 championships, he just had the misfortune of going up against..
@cbaldwinjr As far as Bird playing with more HOF than Magic...he played with a washed up Cowens for ONE year...played with a way past his prime Walton for ONE year..after 86 Walton was absolutely decimated with injuries and missed a tremendous amount of playing time. Walton has ALWAYS given Bird the credit for rejuvenating and revitalizing his career and winning the 6th man of the year award. As far as Parrish and McHale are concerned they were only HOF BECAUSE of Bird..Robert Parrish wasn't..
@cbaldwinjr even an All Star until he got to the Celtics. And he had already been in the league for 5 years when he got to Boston. McHale has ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, given Bird the credit for making him a great player. McHale wasn't even a starter until Maxwell left after 85'. Magic on the other hand had absolutely NOTHING to do with Jabbar and McAdoo being HOF, they were HOF long before he got there. These aren't excuses these are facts...there's a difference...And the fact that right about..
@cbaldwinjr now you are seething and salivating with anger and fury only PROVES that I'm right. And Bird played with Tiny for all of 3 years. Magic had Scott, Thompson, Green, Nixon, and Wilkes. Every single one a tremendous athlete and player. And with the exception of 86 he always had a deeper bench than Bird. Not to mention he played with the greatest center ever. All he did was lob the ball to Jabbar and he took the most unstoppable shot in NBA history..the skyhook. Yeah, Magic had it easy.
@cbaldwinjr And Magic also had better coaching than Bird..Riley was way better than K.C. or Fitch. For the record Bird won NCAA player of the year......Magic did not. And please don't tell me Magic won the NCAA, he had an NBA team..Kessler...Vincent..those guys were phenomenal. Bird had NOBODY...and still managed to go 33 and 0....even in College Magic had it easy................so how MAD are you????
@Seaverful I'll take the guy that went 6 for 6 in the Finals and has the six MVPs...not the guy who lost 2 of 3 to his archrival. Thanks for playing chowdahead.
@cbaldwinjr And since you're so "good" in Celtic history I'm quite disappointed you didn't mention the fact that in 85' Maxwell didn't play and Bird played with an injured right elbow and index finger. And in 87 they were decimated with injuries. You know...just like in 2010 when we were up 3 to 2 but then Perkins went down in game 6. However, Perkins didn't go down in 2008 when we destroyed you on national tv by 40...kind of like the Memorial Day Massacre in 85. Thanks for playing Perry!!!
@Seaverful Umm...Lakers didn't make excuses in 2008 without Bynum. But Wallace suddenly wasn't good enough for you in 2010. You're a clown. People get injured all the time, what's your point? Laker fans don't bitch at Pistons fans because Magic and Scott got hurt in '89. I don't troll Philly fans about '83 when Worthy, Nixon, and McAdoo were hurt. You go win. You had plenty of Hall of Famers...and they didn't get it done. The Lakers were better. Period.
@cbaldwinjr The Lakers were not better....they were just healthier. Just like in 57-58 when the Hawks beat the Celtics....BECAUSE RUSSELL WAS HURT...Just like when the Knicks beat them in 73...HAVLICEC WAS HURT......You don't beat a young, healthy Celtic team...........IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!
@Seaverful And yeah, 2008 was great...but you didn't even get back in '09 and lost in '10. Not bad for an inferior team...and since the West has produced every champion since your title...I'd say our conference is pretty strong too. You know, unlike that shitty excuse you clowns try to make about the '80s
@cbaldwinjr You really don't know which way is up do you. You say that the West is tougher than the East, but you don't allow us to say the TRUTH that in the 80s the Lakers played NOBODY in the playoffs while we had to get past Bucks, Sixers, Detroit, Hawks..You just incessantly contradict yourself. I bet you EXPLODE when you hear the FACT that Jordan won his rings during the watered down, expansion-diluted 90s. The truth stings like a motherfucker doesn't it!! He beat shit teams in a shit era.
@cbaldwinjr Case in point....The Lakers have never beaten a healthy Celtic team....ever....then again nobody has. And for the record...From 87-88 through 91-92, Jordan STILL doesn't have a winning record vs Bird. Not including 88-89 because Bird missed virtually the entire year....Happy New Year Clara
@cbaldwinjr and 2x as many MVPs...and is pretty much universally regarded as the GOAT. No matter how you spin it. Clara huh...that's better than the usual stuff I'm sure you call people. So thanks
@cbaldwinjr I only called you Clara because you called me a clown. I'm not allowed to hit back, is that it? It's okay, I'm used to it. Nobody can out-argue or outwit me so they become tremendously frustrated and laced their posts with personal attacks and horrendous name calling. But when I hit back....I'm the bad guy!!!..WOW!!!!!
@cbaldwinjr You also called me chowdahead......but like I said....it's okay...I'm used to it. And thanks a ton for judging me without even knowing me, by accusing me of calling people really bad things....I really appreciate that...you seem like a really fair person!!!!
WOW........DO YOU THINK THIS WAS MADE BY A LAKERS FAN? Come on.....show the Celtics on Offense one time...... How Pathetic is this Video? Very.......Considering Larry was the runner up MVP under Micheal Jordan this year.
I loved this game. So fun to see the Celtic throng in stunned disbelief. What a freakin shot by the Magic man. Chick was at a loss for words, and that is no small trick. At this point in history the Lakers owned Boston.
Kareem destroyed Parish because Robert thought a very good center was a finesse player. He didnt fight Jabbar for postion well enough to knock him off his rythem.
@inarell84 even worse, when Magic's shot goes in, there's clearly 1 second left on the clock. The Celtics should've had 1 last chance at it, but their home-court timekeeper screwed them.
i think i maybe wrong but this was celtics only home loss of the regular season. they went 40-1. great shot by magic to seal the deal. go lakers! or for the celtics fans. fakers wins titles, loses playoffs series or can't even make the playoffs but in my heart i will always be a laker fan forever!
ummm...What? Who are the 2008 Champs..? Why, idiot, that would be the Most Successful Franchise in the History of American Sport: the record 17-time NBA Champion Boston Celtics. Complete, utter demolition of the hollow, heartless Fakers.
lakers are great now but no lakers team will be as great as the 80's team. and the celtics this year are overrated and underachieving. lakers in 5 games.
See, to even make it to a Game 7, you gotta first show up for Game 6.
Can't wait to raise Banner #17 in November. Only dissapointment for me is that the Fakers refused to compete and completely humiliated themselves. Well, once a Faker, always a Faker.
LA Fakers...hey, if it walks like a duck! Sweet 17!! mmmm-baaahhh-hahahahaha!! Red Sox, Greatriots, and now Celtics..! Ahh, good times in Beantown. How's LA's football team look? Oh yeah, that's right, wait a sec...hahahahahahahahahaha
Were you a part of those 17 bionicfootfungus - or did you just jump on the bandwagon in 2008 and inherit the other 16! LMAO at Boston fan's logic!!! Nice try!!!
dude you can't say that man...they're one of the best teams in history, and this year they are kicking some serious butt. just because they had a stretch of losing seasons doesn't make the Celtics organization suck. only the teams for those years sucked. still, you have to respect the organization, the past teams, and the current team.
not one of the best teams in history, either of these teams would wipe the floor with them. Not to mention the 70's Lakers or Bucks or the 83 76ers. And the 92 and 96 Bulls. I've been a Boston fan my whole life but these Celtics are just flavor of the month. Danny Ainge turned his back on a Celtics franchise player and to me he disassociated himself from the Celtics a long time ago. Tremendous player but he's an ass.
The Celtics did get screwed. They didn't have possession of the ball! They were still scrambling for it. The guy was in the air still... why are people modding john19 down? .. laker fans
Rattus, that's a poor excuse. The Lakers won more titles than the Celtics then because they were better. So when the Celtics won the championships in 1981, 1984 and 1986, the East was no good then? Give credit, not excuses.
I have all the respect in the world for Magic Johnson however the reason he ended up with more Championships than Larry Bird is because the Celtics perrenially had to get through the Sixers and Pistons just to get to the Lakers. The Lakers competition was decidedly weaker
Celtics got screwed - not only the laker timeout that shouldn't have been, but after Magic's shot goes in, there's CLEARLY 1 second left on the clock!! They should have had a last chance to score themselves
yeah, but it wasnt a full second. if u watch it a couple times through, from when the ball left magics hand, which was around 2 seconds, it goes to one before it even hits the backboard. on a hundreth second clock that they have now, there prob would have been about .5 sec left. but they didnt have the technology back then, so cry some more why dont you, ya big baby.
Thank You, thank you, thank you OGT! This is how the game used to be played, with marvellous skill and a deep commitment to fundamentals. And the legends on the floor...Magic, Bird, Kareem, Parish, Worthy, McHale, Coop, Byron, AC, DJ, and Ainge...incredible. And of course the almighty Chickie Baby and Stu Lantz.
clock very late starting shot was late

lakers are great now but no lakers team will be as great as the 80's team. and the celtics this year are overrated and underachieving. lakers in 5 games.

See, to even make it to a Game 7, you gotta first show up for Game 6.
Can't wait to raise Banner #17 in November. Only dissapointment for me is that the Fakers refused to compete and completely humiliated themselves. Well, once a Faker, always a Faker.

The celtics won the series. Good for you. I bet you had a lot to do with it.
Fakers? you must be the first person to ever use this analagy.I swear, ive never heard it before. Extremely well thought out and witty.

LA Fakers...hey, if it walks like a duck! Sweet 17!! mmmm-baaahhh-hahahahaha!! Red Sox, Greatriots, and now Celtics..! Ahh, good times in Beantown. How's LA's football team look? Oh yeah, that's right, wait a sec...hahahahahahahahahaha

it was a nice attempt at a troll. 5/10
Celtics were the better team of the two. simple as that.

Were you a part of those 17 bionicfootfungus - or did you just jump on the bandwagon in 2008 and inherit the other 16! LMAO at Boston fan's logic!!! Nice try!!!

You know Kobe is going to pull a Magic shot and beat the Celtics.

You mean the refs made a bad call against Boston in the Garden. How many calls went the Celtics way in this game?

dude you can't say that man...they're one of the best teams in history, and this year they are kicking some serious butt. just because they had a stretch of losing seasons doesn't make the Celtics organization suck. only the teams for those years sucked. still, you have to respect the organization, the past teams, and the current team.
this is coming from a lakers fan by the way

not one of the best teams in history, either of these teams would wipe the floor with them.
TRJ22487 3 years ago
they definitely don't this year! Or the 16 years they've won the NBA championship for that matter...

The Celtics did get screwed. They didn't have possession of the ball! They were still scrambling for it. The guy was in the air still... why are people modding john19 down? .. laker fans
paulccpaul 4 years ago
Rattus, that's a poor excuse. The Lakers won more titles than the Celtics then because they were better. So when the Celtics won the championships in 1981, 1984 and 1986, the East was no good then? Give credit, not excuses.
cantthinkofone21 4 years ago
I have all the respect in the world for Magic Johnson however the reason he ended up with more Championships than Larry Bird is because the Celtics perrenially had to get through the Sixers and Pistons just to get to the Lakers. The Lakers competition was decidedly weaker

A great comeback by the Lakers. What this video omits is the 35 point performance by Larry Bird.

Celtics got screwed - not only the laker timeout that shouldn't have been, but after Magic's shot goes in, there's CLEARLY 1 second left on the clock!! They should have had a last chance to score themselves
John19182004 4 years ago
yeah, but it wasnt a full second. if u watch it a couple times through, from when the ball left magics hand, which was around 2 seconds, it goes to one before it even hits the backboard. on a hundreth second clock that they have now, there prob would have been about .5 sec left. but they didnt have the technology back then, so cry some more why dont you, ya big baby.
dukemanjapan 4 years ago
still, there was time remaining. They should've had another chance for a play. Crying? I don't have time - it takes too long to count the 16 titles
John19182004 4 years ago
lol, I didnt even realize they won, lol, he just shot the ball like it was nothing, and there you go they won lol

Cooper's 3 point shot answer to Ainge's pass was incredible!
