I can't believe these people actually want government intervention??...I thought the whole idea was about less government which would make sense to me at least...they don't want free markets, what?? But then why think for yourself when the government thinks for you I guess...
westcoastflagpoles said it! the reason why the economy is horrible is because of the ever increasingly prohibited free market (Capitalism). FREEDOM is ALWAYS the answer!
in place of free market Capitalism over the last 100 years or so, we have had a combination of Socialism & Fascism driving our nation's economy and look where it has gotten us.
and now "Neo-Amerikans" want to blame the mess on "Capitalism"???
this shows how blatantly ignorant the masses are in this country!

Schiff really doesn't explain any of his positions. He's also factually incorrect about several things. Half of his income in taxes? Maybe total taxes he'll pay half of what he makes, but he's got the worst tax guy in the world if that's what he pays. His income tax rate is 35%, it should be 15% but gold might not be treated as a security, so the other other 15/35% would be in other taxes. 30 years ago? Maybe he paid less in taxes but definitely not 35 years ago or 20 years ago.
@david52875 I'm not saying he doesn't know, I'm saying he's a goddamn lier. I'm familiar with tax law, if you're a businessman and paying half of your income in taxes you're doing something very wrong. If you include everything, property taxes on your home and office, sales taxes, state and federal income taxes, maybe 50 but even then, that's a long way to go and you have to make mistake after mistake before you get there. Basically if you're at that point the IRS would be double charging you.
@HurricaneTBag Are you saying he is deliberately paying too much taxes? or just lying about how much he pays? Believe it or not, that is how much business owners are paying in taxes these days. He is not making any mistakes.
@david52875 I'm saying that he's lying about the amount, or being purposefully disingenuous, either way that figure's way too high for a guy that sells gold and whines about politics on the radio. I know several business owners very intimately, and I am very familiar with the tax code. If someone's claiming that they pay 50% I'm saying they're full of shit or that or they don't know how to fill out an income tax return.
@david52875 Yes, I'm familiar with Euro Pacific Capital, he deals primarily in foreign currencies and precious metals (fancy term for gold). The guy couldn't properly analyze a stock if his life depended on it. I'd sooner take stock advice from Jim Creamer. He's losing his ass and having his idiot brother handle the bad press he's getting. He's transitioning into a political pundit to make extra income. Dude's at the bottom of the financial totem pole.
makers vs. takers.. takers are the problem, not makers.. why have Americans lost faith in freedom? free market capitalism cannot be blamed for the problems -- the problems are the result of abandoning Free market capitalism.. these problems would not exist in the free market.. the housing bubble would have never happened.. only free market capitalists saw it coming.. September 10, 2003 Ron Paul explained exactly what was happening.. how did he know? why didn't progressives see it coming?
@westcoastflagpoles What? The ARM mortgages were NOT backed by the government, contrary to Mr. Schiff's claims. Banks received tax incentives to give out ARM mortgages but little beyond that, the Bush admin wanted to encourage homeownership, so that's how they did it. The crash that he "saw" was really nothing more than a lucky guess. Progressives? 2003? Progressives didn't get a shred of power until 2007, when the events that caused the crash already happened and there was no turning back.
someone here said that America was built by slaves.
funny, they apparently do not even realize that nearly the entire population of America now consists of slaves — wage slaves whose individual rights have been usurped by an unlimited all powerful central government, which practices Socialism, Fascism & Corporatism.
@infinityBBC you can't just take the word slave and make it slang, wage slaves? Are you shitting me? it was built ON ACTUAL SLAVES, which is people that are actually put a gun to their head and told to work, to breed, or anything. And yes I have woke up, and i just got outta bed right now.
@Evenwas616 so, there was no "building of America" post Civil War? the ONLY people who worked were slaves? i think not.
and BTW, if you don't think there is a gun to your head to keep funding this gov't which continually violates the law of the land via illegal wars, bailouts to wealthy corporations and private banks, etc... just try withholding that and you will quickly see how we are ALL slaves!
@infinityBBC it wasn't completely slave labor, never meant completely but whenever it was slave labor you didn't have to give them money, they were only given food part of the time in which was extremely cheap. Wars are not illegal when they are called counter-terrorism in which they DO fight terrorism. With the bailouts, it isn't going to murder everyone by doing so or in your version "ENSLAVE" them. we need out currency stronger for sure, but nobody will be slaves, not with these laws at least
@Evenwas616 OK, fair enough. i do believe "America" is still reaping the seeds it has sown regarding slavery, in that we are all enslaved into the current system.
but these "wars" are illegal, in that they are enacted by design to have no end, for there are no victory conditions set forth. an unlimited gov't does not maximize liberty, but tyranny (which includes slavery).
i just wish more people would understand this. oh well. live long & prosper! 8-)
@infinityBBC It's what I would want too, but if we didn't put up a fight then the people would be asking why not, now that we did, they're asking why, it's pretty much America's way of saying we can make it worse for you guys, but in this war there will be no winners, only losers.
@Evenwas616 We are actual slaves. Work for WallMart at $8/hr or go hungry. If you get hurt or sick off the job, beg for emergency help. Starve in the dark. Live in Soviet style housing. And above all, according to Schiff, BOW DOWN TO THE OLIGARCHS!
@profnasty If you aren't starving to death then you should be fine, welfare is always the frowned upon option but is possible, did you know that a toll-booth worker earns $50,000 a year? Try that out if you aren't content. and this statistic is as of a year ago so it's probably more.
How do people have the audacity to not look at our governments size and spending and vomit. Instead they get mad at rich businessmen. Look at Bill Gates one of the richest men in the world creator of apple and windows think of how much he has created jobs, heightened technology and helped our economy.Good idea lets make it harder for the rich entrepreneurs who have productive ideas and lets give the money to the gov. 45k per citizen debt is clearly not enough. The fall of democracy is slow.
@DillonDee1 If I were to think that you won't accept the reality of it, i wouldn't respond to you with an answer. I believe you will understand it, so i'll explain. Every one dollar he makes he has to pay 50cents, he goes above to a point where tax breaks don't exist anymore, instead it reached its limit, which is to be 50%, he is making enough money to just barely get through or he's being extremely generous, this is why they go overseas and only pay 15% of their profits to that government.
@DillonDee1 This is also why people are all complaining on how much money is "trapped" overseas, "trapped" being that it is that certain tax paid to the foreign government so pretty much we won't be able to get it back and flowing in the American or in any case, Domestic system, this is why the tax payers do not like to pay taxes here and why you hear so much about how there is no jobs here because they go overseas from the tax. Also GENERALLY, not all, American labor sucks, better overseas.
@comlax22 He's not clueless. Capitalism has an eternal internal paradox within itself. Each capitalist seeks to eliminate his competition while competition is what makes capitalism work. The guy refused to answer the question concerning Adam Smith and his opposition to private monopoly.
Government once regulated ownership of the media. Once Clinton removed it competition shrank from some 19 or 20 large corporation to 4-5 mega corporations.
@UberVersatile Each capitalist does not seek to eliminate competition. That is patently false.
And yes, these OWS people are clueless. Most are college kids or socialists who haven't studied economics and think of themselves as intellectuals. Trying to debunk Adam Smith is like trying to kill a dinosaur fossil. They should try something a little more contemporary like Mises or Hayek, 'course if they did they wouldn't be socialists anymore.
@UberVersatile He does what? Do you even know what they seek? Have you talked with capitalists to know what they want? Do you any evidence to support your assertion? Do you even know what a capitalist is?
I think you're proving comlax22's point that OWS people are clueless.
@Dirge987 Being a business owner or manager is not necessarily the same as a capitalist. This is what we should go back to. A world of ownerns and away from a world of investors.
@UberVersatile You didn't answer my question, and problem is you haven't defined what a capitalist is. A capitalist IS an owner, not only an investor. If someone owns a car and uses that to make deliveries for their job, then they are a capitalist because their car is capital.
@UberVersatile The reason why business owners/capitalists do not want to get rid of their competition is because often times it works in their favor. Competition that sells your product increases the market presence of that product, no matter who sells it, and essentially acts as free advertising for your business. It also allows you to specialize your product one way while your competition specializes another way. In both situations it means increased business for you.
@Dirge987 No. You do not seem to understand the concept of market shares. As you take over market shares you take over all that comes with those shares including advertisement, presence and other things. You pay for them but you also profit from their effects as opposed to your competition and since every sound add is profitable it makes sense to take over competition. Also a capitalist is not necessarily an owner. An owner is responsible for something, a capitalist is not.
@UberVersatile You don't seem to understand that markets can grow as a whole. You advertising for your new ipad will cause people to become more aware of the existence of tablet computers in general, and some of those people will by a different brand. Your competition then benefits from your presence, and you from theirs because the market becomes aware of your product. The total market shares therefore increases. This is basic economic stuff here.
@UberVersatile A capitalist is simply a holder of capital, which can be money to be invested or physical machines that aid in production. You don't think an investor is responsible for their choices? Well tell me what happens when the firm they've invested in goes under. What happens to the capitalist if they support the wrong company, hmmm?
@UberVersatile Exactly. If they fail to successfully plan the structure of production, then they are held accountable for their actions by losing their bet.
@UberVersatile "No they are not held accountable for their actions. They just lose their bet."
You have a contradiction right there. If they lose their money, then that means they are negatively affected by the choices they make, meaning they are held accountable. If I go to Vegas and lose all my money, I'll be held accountable for my actions by losing said money.
As far as Enron and BP, ask what institution shielded them from liability and you'll have your problem right there.
@UberVersatile "No they are not held accountable for their actions. They just lose their bet."

They lack the accountability for their decisions. That is they are not accountable if they decide to produce something that turns out to be harmful. Institutions did not protect them if you do not call the institution of a corporation a part of government.
The institution of a corporation is given the rights equal to men in nearly all aspects and in some aspects surpassing the rights of men. The corporation is a human being.
@UberVersatile You keep saying investors lack accountability for their decisions, but if they choose to invest wrongly then they lose their money. That is accountability right there. Now the people making the decisions to make a product are, 99% of the time, NOT the investors. You have a whole different realm of accountability there.
Second, corporate personhood really has no significance in the discussion. I'm not sure why you went there.
This level of stupid has me looking over my shoulder while alone in my room; embarrassed someone may see me watching these morons.. Plan; overthrow your government, find a better structure - an actual democracy that cares about the country and quality of life for those in it, and fix things. Governments think that things need to happen slow, when a change can be "woah, we're doing it wrong, lets stop, back-up, and do it the proper way and stop wasting time"
God I wish Peter would stop talking to these idiots.. Darwinism will sort the parasites out in the next revolution. Americans have no financial education they only listen to central bank propaganda...He is a business man y'all.. International business are looking around the world not just the US for workers... AMERICA is not the only place to find talent... If you want to survive COMPETE...
"There is nothing immoral about greed." -Peter Schiff, an American investment broker, author and financial commentator.
"[O]nly a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." -Benjamin Franklin, Signer of the Declaration of Independence
Yeah young bearded asshole, keep giving the government more "regulatory" power. Keep believing that unions created the middle class and we owe everything to central banking and fascist politicians. When the Fed and the biggest banks succeed in wiping out the middle class with government help, you can work in a sweatshop for pennies on the dollar too, assuming they don't kill you first in their quest for depopulation.
@daPlumber702 And I have no surprise for the bevis and butthead laugh @ 4:33 I'm ashamed to be a part of the same generation as most of the people at these rallies. They are the kids that ate glue and fondled each other while I was doing my homework and it shows.
@sunflowerjellyfly The propaganda has been very effective, many of these occupiers prove it. They defend regulations, not realizing they are actually designed to be barriers-to-entry. They defend government unions, not realizing they help expand the size of government through extensive lobbying. They think taxes level the playing field, when all they really do is help enforce the Fed's monopoly on capital.
@erentheca its funny micheal moore is supporting OWS even tho he himself is part of the 1% and has demonstrated numerous times that he is only successful because of capitalism.... wtf is he thinking. if we had a socialist goverment he wouldnt even be allowed to make his movies since they are always saying bad things about how things are run.
@doc2850 Michael Moore is a funny and contradictory individual. He stated that people who work hard or innovate should enjoy the rewards of their labor. It seemed like a description of capitalism to me. You are right, without capitalism, Michael Moore would be a minor propagandist, assuming he was even given permission to make films by the commissars that run his non-capitalistic society.
@TheMidwestsk8ter In theory, a free market can quickly correct itself in that those who are laid off due to technological innovation can rejoin the labor force quickly in another sector, or as soon as they are able to train in new skills. For instance, my father-in-law was a supervisor at a pasta factory, it moved to Mexico, and he retrained as a welder. He was injured welding, so he retrained as a jeweler.
@erentheca Thats convued logic. Almost all jobs could be auotamated and eventually will due to the cost effiency 90% of the labor is in the service sector and thats being replaced with self check out etc...this system is a contradiction and isn't sustainable.
@TheMidwestsk8ter actualy stores may be moving away from self checkout due to customers complaining / wanting human interaction. my store has self checkout and express line is almost always longer even when there is an open self checkout people will stay in the express line. and we will always need people to repair and design those machines that didnt exsist years ago.
@TheMidwestsk8ter Any automated system requires a skilled labor force to build those systems, maintain them, and to recycle those systems as they expire. Secondly, in a truly free market devoid of taxes, regulations, and price floors, dropping prices due to automation would merely allow more diverse goods to compete in the market. Falling prices due to efficiency is never a bad thing, it frees up spending money and capital for other ventures which employ people.
@erentheca Most aoutomated systems like that require very lil maintence those skilled pepole can't survive off working once a year, plus the systems used to make those machines are aoutmated and require lil matence. I'm done playing the patch the holes on the wore down tire...we need a new tire, a new system a sustainable one. Resource based ecnomy.
@erentheca A resource based ecnomy is applying the scientfic method to gonvernment. Its designining society techinaly, no moneny will be used everyone would be given the resources they need.... i doubt you will agree with aoutmatically you have to look into it yourself and research and ask qeustions check out "Zeitgeist moving foward" don't dismiss it ask questions research.
Most of the OWS crowd is taught that Big Gov't is suppose to print money to create jobs. This is because there's no capitalisam in N. America it's all a closed shop of who you know.
@jibbi4one Very true. This whole "create jobs" jargon is one of the silliest PR phrases to enter political thought. As if the government stooges had either the wisdom or inclination to efficiently direct manpower and resources where they are needed most, or to know how to satisfy domestic or international demand for goods and services. The only thing they know how to do is pay off buddies, buy votes, and steal from us with taxes, inflation, and debt.
No one here realizes that that dude completely schooled peter schiff on Adam Smith, shiff was trying to be evasive but knew the guy was right, that government intervenes in emergencies. and when he asks who bought our government. haha...
The first guy is such a fucking prick. "I'm right, you're wrong, and let me act like I'm talking to somebody so you can't prove me wrong". Shut the fuck up...
many of the are actually intelligent enough to understand what ought to be done, but are so deeply programmed by the rot at the core of the edu system that it will take a miracle to break through. The weird chanting is indicative of just how deeply this programming runs. They willingly submit to more by engaging in that age old mind control trick. Kudos to Schiff for giving it a go though! He's dead on, as usual.
Some truth from Peter Schiff, but anybody who thinks for a second that he actually pays 50 percent of his yearly earnings in taxes is dreaming. And that movie theater analogy was just as bad as they come. Sorry peter.....FAIL!!!
Seeing that most ppl who follow Peter Shit's slop are neckbeards with no jobs in their early 30's and living at home with their mamas, they can afford to be anti-union. Peter Schiff, who is related to the elder Schiff who is a banker and just as much a part of this, is not saying that we already have a free, unregulated market. That is to set the tone for all those with some sense that the other side offering communal one world government is better, thus setting the stage for the Anti-Christ.
When you have a free market, you have Ma Bell which created a monopoly in the phone industry just as Microsoft did at one time as can be attested at their Anti-Trust trial in the late 90's to early 00's. It took the Federal Government to break it down and make it liable to their customers again. We should be going after the Federal Reserve, NOT the Federal Government. Unions are good for workers and bad for businesses since they make them culpable to their workers.
Do not blame the banks for losing your homes... blame yourselves for signing into contracts/mortgages that you had no idea what you were signing and that you couldn't afford because our society always has to have things bigger and better.
Huge props to Peter for doing this. Some of what he says is BS, but he's mostly right here.
It's not the 1% of wealthy that's the problem, it's the .01% of wealthy who also bribe and collude with the government to warp the system through campaign donations, lobbying, and other special favors. THAT's who the 99ers should be protesting, not successful people who play by the rules and pay taxes.
Peter Schiff is right about the deductions. People whine about the tax rate all the time, but they don't understand that back in the day there were TONS of deductions. In the '50's, the top marginal tax rate was 90%. Does anyone honestly think that people making $500,000 in the 50's were working $450,000 of it over to Uncle Sam? Hell no. They took so many deductions that the rate was effectively wiped out.
How many people in the crowd own or bought at least 1 apple product (ipad, ipod, iphone, macbook, appletv, etc) yet their manufacturing capacity is done overseas?
And how many people in the crowds support sweat shop manufacturing?
Every time someone you know brags about getting foodstamp for free, where is the money coming from? The food stamp money must have come from someone. oh geez, why is the deficit getting bigger again...
The government is a CORPORATE STATE. It is silly then to say that the capitalist government, but not capitalism itself, which creates the economic problems
Did you not listen to a word he said? You need to separate the government from economics in principle, not just pragmatically. When the mechanism of a regulatory, welfare state exists, there is a created incentive for corporations and various pressure groups to lobby that government to curry favors, monopolize a specific market, or receive exemptions. It is not "the corporations, man", it is people's pragmatic anti-ideology which has allowed the government to get so big.
@Alexshrugged92 You are talking theoretical, NOT reality. In reality, free markets that are unregulated creates Ma Bell ie South Bell ie At and T which had a monopoly and no longer answered to their buyers and so thus had to be broken up by the Federal Government. Attack the Fed, not the Fed Government!
AT&T was established originally as a government monopoly. All monopolies are the result of a government grant or privilege, whether that be the railroads during the 19th century, your local cable companies, many union privileges because of the Davis-Bacon Act, trucking because of the ICC, etc...
Yes, we should end the Federal Reserve, but institutions are the result of principles and the philosophy of a people, not the other way around.
Incidentally, most people who are rich have earned their money and did not receive a special privilege of government. You will undoubtedly have cooperation of "special interests" and state in a mixed-economy. You need to remove the regulatory mechanisms in place to end political corruption combined with objective law that is knowable and predictable.
21 states have separated from the United States and are now Sovereign
Countries , as it is each states legal right to do if it chooses . our government is not allowing this information on the news , its BANNED but its online ! GOOGLE these words .......... " american secession movement " and " 21 states declare Sovereignty
unions built the middle class? no mr idiot, they didn't build the middle class. Workers producing built the middle class. the system they used to do it with was capitalism. unions today helping to destroy the middle class
People don't understand what the free market actually is.. the free market is people like you.. fools... that's all a market is.. People keep people in check.. especially companies that are competing against each other keep each other in check because both are trying to get the best product they can possibly make to as many people as they can.
the american secession movement has never once been on any of the major news stations and there are reports all over the internet that 21 states have broken away from the US and are now completely sovereign countries google " 21 states sovereignty "
type in american secessionist movement into google . since our government cannot control the internet it has leaked out . but america itself , our media has been under a media blackout for about 10 years now . about once a year another state cedes .
21 states in America , or i should say 21 states have separated from the united states . they each are separate countries from eachother and from the united states of america . this is an absolute fact .
you guys type these words into google 21 States Declare Sovereignty or go to the other peter schiff occupy video the one with the most views and you will see in the posts how we found this online article . there is more than one article and they are from reputable online sources . saying that 21 states over the last 6 years have declared sovereignty and have ceded from the united states . this isnt a joke . major news stations are not allowed to report this is happening but its online .
It's ridiculous all of the comments bashing these people for them realizing that the current system is fucked, rather than being productive in showing them why the system is fucked. You are just as bad as them if you aren't willing to show them the research you have acquired. The things you know aren't common knowledge. You guys aren't getting off your ass knowing the how system is fucked and advocating real solutions, instead the majority of you just like to patronize those "hipster faggots"
@bkshort77 I can only speak for myself, but educating these people is sincerely difficult. First off, you have to get them alone. If you do not mob mentality sets in and they stonewall. Even if you get them alone it doesn't mean they will agree. People simply do not understand that not all entities are Goldman Sachs or J.P. Morgan. Perhaps in time they will realize, but I sincerely doubt it will be through debate. You may have better luck.
@YaHuWaHservant That is true, but my point is sitting around name calling is just further dividing us and making it harder for two different mindsets to get to actually learn about one another. They think that we are using the mob mentality by making it us vs them with all the name calling. If they saw reasonable caring people it might be easier for them to be more open to our ideas. I do see how you could get frustrated though knowing that you are right and not making much progress.
@bkshort77 It simply bothers me that people don't understand that Government does involve when the market goes askew, but it is because of Government involvement to begin with that the economy went askew. I mean I sometimes feel like I am trying to explain that 2+2=4. However, I do not insult. Name calling is the first sign of a losing argument and my argument isn't wrong :) The Federal Government needs to mind it's own business with the market place.
@YaHuWaHservant "It simply bothers me that people don't understand that Government does involve when the market goes askew..."
It's really not surprising. Socialism and/or government intervention sounds better at face value to our society that is conditioned to believe that altruism is virtue and greed is evil. It's much simpler to think that government working towards "societal good" is better than government doing nothing in regards of the economy.
@YaHuWaHservant What needs to happen is the exposition of the flawed principles that make government intervention appealing; that make altruism appealing as a societal standard. That, I believe, would be the easiest way to change our society such that freedom is valued above all else.
@TheMoriMaster Well if living through the economic turmoil of market place stupidity with Government involvement being the instrument of the Elite then nothing will show them.
@YaHuWaHservant "Well if living through the economic turmoil of market place stupidity with Government involvement being the instrument of the Elite then nothing will show them."
It's really not hard to forge a scapegoat for the masses. In this case, the scapegoat is the free market. I don't expect everyone to be able to understand every nuance of the economy; that is why going for the root of the problem is so important. The root being the principles involved.
@YaHuWaHservant Or there is always the separatist route, which is a complete possibility with all of the civil unrest we're bound to be seeing. That is probably the best way to really show them their error: by giving them what they want and let them alone with that. Then they would have nobody to blame but themselves.
at least peter schiff had the gut to go down to that hipster infested park and give out his opinion to these dumb fuken retards, its really funny how professional he spoke compared to that dumb idiot with the smile in his face always interrupting the conversation.
@THEREALMESSAGEMAN . yea ? even funnier that there is no video footage of peter getting owned . after all all these anti capitalist protestors all have cell phones and camcorders it looks like . so it seems strange that that shining moment for OWS of him getting owned was not recorded . and HE was confusing the conversation ?!!
Its amazing how stupid the OWS people really are. They think they're smart. They think they're owed something. Amazing they can even dress themselves.
funny when e first got there during the day he owned the conversation then during the evening he met with intellectuals with education and knowledge as to politics government and economics and now Peter wasn't controlling or confusing the conversation..:)
It's like the way FOX news does it, telling you a clear-cut lie and using that to base an argument off of.
"Government licences the monopolies"
"Without government monopolies wouldn't exist"
"I wanna get the government out of things, that's the problem."
He subliminally repeats these words to get them crammed into your mind and makes rediculous claims in an 'uppity happy insisting way", to sound very "agreeable".
@Jujudo If you people on the left want to tax the rich and corporations so much - why don't we tax unions? If the AFL -CIO were a corporation - It would be one of the largest corporations in America. The AFL-CIO Executives make MILLIONS. The unions have a monopoly - Why aren't THEY taxed ?
That guy that smiled the whole time, I don't think he listened to anything Peter said. It his mind he has the world figured out. Smug jackass. He's trying to explain why America is in the situation it's in now and he doesn't want to hear from Peter why. So sad.
What Peter Schiff is saying is over these people heads! They need a crash course in Austrian economics. I commend him for trying. I'm more inclined to let idiots believe whatever they want.
Man, Schiff just gets owned here. Wages are too high? That's his line? He gets his ass handed to him so many times it's not even funny. No wonder this part of it didn't make the air.
I can't believe these people actually want government intervention??...I thought the whole idea was about less government which would make sense to me at least...they don't want free markets, what?? But then why think for yourself when the government thinks for you I guess...

HurricaneTBag 1 month ago
@HurricaneTBag First of all, Peter Schiff would know how much he pays in taxes. Second, %50 is about average for business owners today.
david52875 1 month ago
@david52875 I'm not saying he doesn't know, I'm saying he's a goddamn lier. I'm familiar with tax law, if you're a businessman and paying half of your income in taxes you're doing something very wrong. If you include everything, property taxes on your home and office, sales taxes, state and federal income taxes, maybe 50 but even then, that's a long way to go and you have to make mistake after mistake before you get there. Basically if you're at that point the IRS would be double charging you.
HurricaneTBag 1 month ago
@HurricaneTBag Are you saying he is deliberately paying too much taxes? or just lying about how much he pays? Believe it or not, that is how much business owners are paying in taxes these days. He is not making any mistakes.
david52875 1 month ago
@david52875 I'm saying that he's lying about the amount, or being purposefully disingenuous, either way that figure's way too high for a guy that sells gold and whines about politics on the radio. I know several business owners very intimately, and I am very familiar with the tax code. If someone's claiming that they pay 50% I'm saying they're full of shit or that or they don't know how to fill out an income tax return.
HurricaneTBag 1 month ago
@HurricaneTBag First of all, peter schiff doesn't sell gold, he's a stock broker. Look up euro pacific capital.
david52875 1 month ago

September 10, 2003 Ron Paul explained exactly what was happening.. how did he know? why didn't progressives see it coming?
westcoastflagpoles 1 month ago

WAKE UP!!!
infinityBBC 2 months ago
@infinityBBC you can't just take the word slave and make it slang, wage slaves? Are you shitting me? it was built ON ACTUAL SLAVES, which is people that are actually put a gun to their head and told to work, to breed, or anything. And yes I have woke up, and i just got outta bed right now.
Evenwas616 2 months ago
@Evenwas616 so, there was no "building of America" post Civil War? the ONLY people who worked were slaves? i think not.
and BTW, if you don't think there is a gun to your head to keep funding this gov't which continually violates the law of the land via illegal wars, bailouts to wealthy corporations and private banks, etc... just try withholding that and you will quickly see how we are ALL slaves!
infinityBBC 2 months ago
@infinityBBC it wasn't completely slave labor, never meant completely but whenever it was slave labor you didn't have to give them money, they were only given food part of the time in which was extremely cheap. Wars are not illegal when they are called counter-terrorism in which they DO fight terrorism. With the bailouts, it isn't going to murder everyone by doing so or in your version "ENSLAVE" them. we need out currency stronger for sure, but nobody will be slaves, not with these laws at least
Evenwas616 2 months ago
@Evenwas616 OK, fair enough. i do believe "America" is still reaping the seeds it has sown regarding slavery, in that we are all enslaved into the current system.
but these "wars" are illegal, in that they are enacted by design to have no end, for there are no victory conditions set forth. an unlimited gov't does not maximize liberty, but tyranny (which includes slavery).
i just wish more people would understand this. oh well. live long & prosper! 8-)
infinityBBC 2 months ago
@infinityBBC It's what I would want too, but if we didn't put up a fight then the people would be asking why not, now that we did, they're asking why, it's pretty much America's way of saying we can make it worse for you guys, but in this war there will be no winners, only losers.
Evenwas616 2 months ago
@Evenwas616 We are actual slaves. Work for WallMart at $8/hr or go hungry. If you get hurt or sick off the job, beg for emergency help. Starve in the dark. Live in Soviet style housing. And above all, according to Schiff, BOW DOWN TO THE OLIGARCHS!
profnasty 2 months ago

DillonDee1 2 months ago
Evenwas616 2 months ago

Why this opposition to regulations?
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile Each capitalist does not seek to eliminate competition. That is patently false.
And yes, these OWS people are clueless. Most are college kids or socialists who haven't studied economics and think of themselves as intellectuals. Trying to debunk Adam Smith is like trying to kill a dinosaur fossil. They should try something a little more contemporary like Mises or Hayek, 'course if they did they wouldn't be socialists anymore.
Dirge987 1 month ago
@Dirge987 Yes he does by virtue of being a capitalist.
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile He does what? Do you even know what they seek? Have you talked with capitalists to know what they want? Do you any evidence to support your assertion? Do you even know what a capitalist is?
I think you're proving comlax22's point that OWS people are clueless.
Dirge987 1 month ago
@Dirge987 I am a capitalist and I would certainly want the companies that I have invested in to obliterate their competition and gain market shares.
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile And yet business owners don't want to obliterate their competition. Do you know why?
Dirge987 1 month ago
@Dirge987 Being a business owner or manager is not necessarily the same as a capitalist. This is what we should go back to. A world of ownerns and away from a world of investors.
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile Actually I take that back. To complicated to discuss on youtube
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile You didn't answer my question, and problem is you haven't defined what a capitalist is. A capitalist IS an owner, not only an investor. If someone owns a car and uses that to make deliveries for their job, then they are a capitalist because their car is capital.
Cont'd
Dirge987 1 month ago
@UberVersatile The reason why business owners/capitalists do not want to get rid of their competition is because often times it works in their favor. Competition that sells your product increases the market presence of that product, no matter who sells it, and essentially acts as free advertising for your business. It also allows you to specialize your product one way while your competition specializes another way. In both situations it means increased business for you.
Dirge987 1 month ago
@Dirge987 No. You do not seem to understand the concept of market shares. As you take over market shares you take over all that comes with those shares including advertisement, presence and other things. You pay for them but you also profit from their effects as opposed to your competition and since every sound add is profitable it makes sense to take over competition. Also a capitalist is not necessarily an owner. An owner is responsible for something, a capitalist is not.
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile You don't seem to understand that markets can grow as a whole. You advertising for your new ipad will cause people to become more aware of the existence of tablet computers in general, and some of those people will by a different brand. Your competition then benefits from your presence, and you from theirs because the market becomes aware of your product. The total market shares therefore increases. This is basic economic stuff here.
Dirge987 1 month ago
@UberVersatile A capitalist is simply a holder of capital, which can be money to be invested or physical machines that aid in production. You don't think an investor is responsible for their choices? Well tell me what happens when the firm they've invested in goes under. What happens to the capitalist if they support the wrong company, hmmm?
Dirge987 1 month ago
@Dirge987 The capitalist looses his investment
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile Exactly. If they fail to successfully plan the structure of production, then they are held accountable for their actions by losing their bet.
Dirge987 1 month ago
@Dirge987 No they are not held accountable for their actions. They just lose their bet.

@Dirge987 Money is a + / - game here.
UberVersatile 1 month ago
@UberVersatile You keep saying investors lack accountability for their decisions, but if they choose to invest wrongly then they lose their money. That is accountability right there. Now the people making the decisions to make a product are, 99% of the time, NOT the investors. You have a whole different realm of accountability there.
Second, corporate personhood really has no significance in the discussion. I'm not sure why you went there.

@TheMidwestsk8ter Market self-correction.
erentheca 2 months ago
@erentheca Explain i don't know what that is..
TheMidwestsk8ter 2 months ago
@TheMidwestsk8ter In theory, a free market can quickly correct itself in that those who are laid off due to technological innovation can rejoin the labor force quickly in another sector, or as soon as they are able to train in new skills. For instance, my father-in-law was a supervisor at a pasta factory, it moved to Mexico, and he retrained as a welder. He was injured welding, so he retrained as a jeweler.
erentheca 2 months ago
@erentheca Thats convued logic. Almost all jobs could be auotamated and eventually will due to the cost effiency 90% of the labor is in the service sector and thats being replaced with self check out etc...this system is a contradiction and isn't sustainable.
TheMidwestsk8ter 2 months ago
@TheMidwestsk8ter actualy stores may be moving away from self checkout due to customers complaining / wanting human interaction. my store has self checkout and express line is almost always longer even when there is an open self checkout people will stay in the express line. and we will always need people to repair and design those machines that didnt exsist years ago.
doc2850 2 months ago
@TheMidwestsk8ter Any automated system requires a skilled labor force to build those systems, maintain them, and to recycle those systems as they expire. Secondly, in a truly free market devoid of taxes, regulations, and price floors, dropping prices due to automation would merely allow more diverse goods to compete in the market. Falling prices due to efficiency is never a bad thing, it frees up spending money and capital for other ventures which employ people.
erentheca 2 months ago
@erentheca Most aoutomated systems like that require very lil maintence those skilled pepole can't survive off working once a year, plus the systems used to make those machines are aoutmated and require lil matence.

Alexshrugged92 3 months ago
@Alexshrugged92 You are talking theoretical, NOT reality. Attack the Fed, not the Fed Government!
HappyHooker83 3 months ago
@HappyHooker83

You need to remove the regulatory mechanisms in place to end political corruption combined with objective law that is knowable and predictable.

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN BECAUSE CORPORATIONS BUY POLITICIANS! IT'S THAT SIMPLE!
cloudstrife1288 3 months ago
@cloudstrife1288 & Schiff would agree with you. & corruption is cured by limiting the power of government.

Marx feared unions a lot because unions keep workers content and out of control while the employer raised exploitation.

People don't understand what the free market actually is.. the free market is people like you.. fools... that's all a market is.. People keep people in check.. especially companies that are competing against each other keep each other in check because both are trying to get the best product they can possibly make to as many people as they can.

It's ridiculous all of the comments bashing these people for them realizing that the current system is fucked, rather than being productive in showing them why the system is fucked. You are just as bad as them if you aren't willing to show them the research you have acquired. The things you know aren't common knowledge. You guys aren't getting off your ass knowing the how system is fucked and advocating real solutions, instead the majority of you just like to patronize those "hipster faggots"
bkshort77 3 months ago
@bkshort77 I can only speak for myself, but educating these people is sincerely difficult. First off, you have to get them alone. If you do not mob mentality sets in and they stonewall. Even if you get them alone it doesn't mean they will agree. People simply do not understand that not all entities are Goldman Sachs or J.P. Morgan. Perhaps in time they will realize, but I sincerely doubt it will be through debate. You may have better luck.
YaHuWaHservant 3 months ago
@YaHuWaHservant That is true, but my point is sitting around name calling is just further dividing us and making it harder for two different mindsets to get to actually learn about one another. They think that we are using the mob mentality by making it us vs them with all the name calling. If they saw reasonable caring people it might be easier for them to be more open to our ideas. I do see how you could get frustrated though knowing that you are right and not making much progress.
bkshort77 3 months ago

TheMoriMaster 3 months ago
@YaHuWaHservant What needs to happen is the exposition of the flawed principles that make government intervention appealing; that make altruism appealing as a societal standard. That, I believe, would be the easiest way to change our society such that freedom is valued above all else.
TheMoriMaster 3 months ago
@TheMoriMaster Well if living through the economic turmoil of market place stupidity with Government involvement being the instrument of the Elite then nothing will show them.
YaHuWaHservant 3 months ago
@YaHuWaHservant "Well if living through the economic turmoil of market place stupidity with Government involvement being the instrument of the Elite then nothing will show them."
It's really not hard to forge a scapegoat for the masses. In this case, the scapegoat is the free market. I don't expect everyone to be able to understand every nuance of the economy; that is why going for the root of the problem is so important. The root being the principles involved.
TheMoriMaster 3 months ago
@YaHuWaHservant Or there is always the separatist route, which is a complete possibility with all of the civil unrest we're bound to be seeing. That is probably the best way to really show them their error: by giving them what they want and let them alone with that. Then they would have nobody to blame but themselves.
TheMoriMaster 3 months ago
at least peter schiff had the gut to go down to that hipster infested park and give out his opinion to these dumb fuken retards, its really funny how professional he spoke compared to that dumb idiot with the smile in his face always interrupting the conversation.
steller310 3 months ago
@THEREALMESSAGEMAN . yea ? even funnier that there is no video footage of peter getting owned . after all all these anti capitalist protestors all have cell phones and camcorders it looks like . so it seems strange that that shining moment for OWS of him getting owned was not recorded . and HE was confusing the conversation ?!!
jenni3613 3 months ago
Its amazing how stupid the OWS people really are. They think they're smart. They think they're owed something. Amazing they can even dress themselves.

funny when e first got there during the day he owned the conversation then during the evening he met with intellectuals with education and knowledge as to politics government and economics and now Peter wasn't controlling or confusing the conversation..:)
THEREALMESSAGEMAN 3 months ago
Peter Shiff even SOUNDS dumb when he talks.
I feelsorry for you Peter Schiff-lovers

@Jujudo If you people on the left want to tax the rich and corporations so much - why don't we tax unions? If the AFL -CIO were a corporation - It would be one of the largest corporations in America. The AFL-CIO Executives make MILLIONS. The unions have a monopoly - Why aren't THEY taxed ?
MetalDetroit 3 months ago
@MetalDetroit I never said I was left wing.
Unions are non-profit organisations.
Why would you tax them
They have shit-all except of what they are given in donation.
Jujudo 3 months ago
That guy that smiled the whole time, I don't think he listened to anything Peter said. It his mind he has the world figured out. Smug jackass. He's trying to explain why America is in the situation it's in now and he doesn't want to hear from Peter why. So sad.
