ive got a lvl 15 elf hunter in lotro and he is a beast his legs have 197 armor with 13 agility a kick ass bow that way 300s on the auction 2 swords 1 from quest 150s for one and a hooded cloak with raw stats

hey does anyone know what vocation i should choose for my elven hunter, im tryin to decide between woodsman or armsman, whats better for a hunter?

Both have advantages and disadvantages. Woodsman can make bows, but imo you have to advance pretty high b4 they're any good. Armsman can make swords but same problem, but they can make double and triple traps that can be used in combat and are really nice for crowd control. Hunters do get some decent CC but not til high level.

If this is your first character, i highly reccomend explorer as it is a brilliant income. I made the mistake of choosing armsman for my first character, thinking i could make myself swords and bows etc etc. But the vocations advance slower than your character levels. For example: at level 30 my hunter could only make (decent) weapons for a level 20. However, now at 60, i use it to make weapons for alts/kin members, plus triple traps for myself (which cost a bomb on AH: 1.2G for 40).

@SuperShinks Hunters should take the woodsman vocation unless you have a friend who'll make them for you. Leveling forester is just easy, and it provides mats for woodworking. You can carft your own bows that way and be self sustainable. Farming can be used for roleplaying or for some money income. Hunters going with woodsman vocation is just perfect. It's as if they dedicated the vocation to us.

i got a elf hunter lvl 6 ( i only had for 2 days ) but he hits 30s with rapid and with his sword he crits 40s

Don't be an elf, they're underpowered.

They may seem fun at first, but later you'll see that you're weaker than others.

3400HP is best morale choice for hunter, more would just f*ck up the whole hunter.

and for all those dump more than 420Agility hunters, you suck, because you waste to much other stats!

hey im hunter 2.. play on firefoot but he aint my highest toon... only lvl 30 atm.. what is that skill you used to do such high damage at once? and at what lvl do you get it? and yes i agree.. hunter just own (especially if they are forced to solo)
