@IceTTom I actually was going to write something pretty bad about you, but I instead saw your videos. Considering you're riding a frigging Honda Rebel-ish bike, I guess I don't have to. You've done my work for me. Thanks!
@cealtun You ride like you're an idiot. I honestly don't think I would comment on anyone's video if I were you, considering you're just a statistic waiting to happen.
KINDA COOL Motorcycle there !!! WISH it were MINE !!! I wouldn't have TIME for any VIDEOS, I"D be Road Hoging and Picking up SEXY-ASS CHICKS !!! 2 wheels down my man..
Congratulations o your new bike!! It's a beauty!! I just picked up my Road King Classic 2 days ago. Since I got mit home it's been raining here in Long Island!
I rode a Yamaha XS1100-SF for 32 years then I rented a Road King Ultra in Reno, Nev for a week this past May. After week was up I knew I was buying a Road King and selling my Yamaha. I wanted the Classic for the clean, nostalgic look...and the 103 cu. in. motor.
Lovely bike. Me and my girlfriend came on holiday to the US last year (my first time), I hired one of these and my girlfriend had a Heritage Softail. Ok - they were hired...but they were ours for two whole weeks. LA, Grand Canyon, Rte 66, Vegas - I loved that bike.
sweet ride i have the same bike but its an 07 i bought it new in oct of 06 i had an 05 but i wanted the six speed so i got the 07 so now that they updated the frame in 09 i have to trade up again.but like you i have about 4-5000 in parts on my bike so i dont want to do that again seeing im not doing as good as i was in 2005-2006 cheers Mate
@borge225 LORD, NO!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. MSRP minus $1000 is the normal price. You can probably haggle them down $500 more if you have a good downpayment.
Tax...title...don't remember, but I believe that was somewhere around $500, probably less.
As far as add-ons, they get rolled into your warranty if they're installed at delivery, so I went a little nuts. Then I paid interest over the year it took me to pay off the bike, so I really don't know my actual cost with busting out a calculator.
Nice RKC man, but just a question. I sat on a 48 and it was perfect qua comfort. How tall are you? 6"? Because i never tried a RKC? Does it suits you well?
@DC8370 6" yes. Suits me just fine. If the '48 fits you, then what's the problem? Big difference in bikes, too much to mention in one of these little comments. Have you ridden both? Ride the one that feels better. Go for it, you only live once.
@smalltalkingchicken There is no prob in fact but a mate of mine has a RKC and i would like to test it, but if i don't suit the RKC i'm afraid that when i ride, it'll be hard to handle.
But like you said you only live once! I'll test the RKC after another trip with the 48. Grtz Cé.
Gorgeous bike man. I've got a '10 just like it. Same color, but you've got quite a bit more chrome. I had the back end lowered with the Street Glide shocks so it's got that bit of mean look to it in the back end. Just had a set of 16" apes put on a few days ago as well. Made the reach a little more comfortable for me. I'm looking at getting a set of fishtails as well. You mention that you're not 100% pleased about your choice of brand. Any thoughts on other manufacturers?
@Rezaroth Tough one, man. Honestly...heritage is the most beautiful bike you can get. The '11s have ABS, too. More fun to ride but NOT as comfortable or powerful as RKC. Either way, you can't go wrong - so get whichever one you think is better. Flip a coin, and in the minute the coin is falling you'll hear in your own head the way you want it to go. Good luck.
@Rezaroth I have a Heritage and I've ridden RKs. Totally different feels. The Heritage you "sit in" and the RK you "sit on". RK will be a better handling bike (turning, braking). The Heritage has a balanced motor, so no shaking ever, the RK has a rubber mounted motor, which at low speeds and idle shakes the bike. I'd say if you are going to do any serious long distance or mileage, get the RK, but if you are just going to to day trips and such get the Heritage...much better looking bike IMHO
@Rezaroth The #1 suggestion I have for you though is to either go to a demo event or better yet rent both bikes for a day. It will be money well spent. There is probably nothing better you can do to help you decide which bike. It won't take you long to know which one is for you. I was between the Heritage and the RK, I rode both and I just loved the Heritage. The RK may make more sense on paper, but the Heritage just has this "thing" or feel going for it.
Congrats on the new bike, Bro! I just picked up a 2010 Softail Deluxe - Black/Red back in August. Life is good! I love the visors, fender rails and "Live To Ride" add-ons you did. Classic touch! I am still looking to change my exhaust and seat to give it even a more nostalgic look. I plan on doing the visors as well, and anything else I can think of that will give it the old school look. I like your exhaust as well. Gotta have the tails! Plenty of loudness but not overbearing. Nice!!
@VinBad007 You need to get some videos up, good sir. The Deluxe makes the world a better place. Visors on lollypop lights are hella fun, and on your softail you can get a 1up seat with the chrome bar back - that's the way to go. Maybe some fringe if you're into that, otherwise a retro seat and the right bars and you are good to go. Share your ride! And ride safe.
I love this bike! I want to ask you about the overheating problem of this bike, does it heat up realy quick during intese traffic, on lets say 5 mph?..
@bnCOD Define "quick" - at some point, all air-cooled engines sitting in traffic will overheat. Fact of life. The FLHRC has parade mode, where twisting the throttle forward will shut down one of your cylinders. And in general, why would you want to ride in traffic? Plan your day better.
That said, no. I have not had any overheating issues, but remember I have 2:2 true duals (no catalytic converter to horde the heat) and my bike is tuned properly. I also use AMSOIL. Check my blog for more.
Well I got my Road king, and yes it does have Fuel Injection,, Me and some friends are goin to hook up at nine c/t and do some riding down in Land Between the Lakes.. it had been thirty five years since I road a bike , But it came right back to me.. I'm still alittle rusty .... LOL..... I'll try and put a clip together and post it on here...What state do you live in.. Tom
@TomLumpkins WOOHOO! Congrats!!! Would love to see your new scoot! Just take it slow and you'll be fine. Watch out for the illusion of mastery that comes after a few months: that is what causes most crashes. Ride safe and hurry up with the vid!
I got aproved thru Harley Davidson, And plan to get a Road King.. But before I get it I'm goin to save a couple G's and get the payments down. Your Bike is awesome. and I'm realy looking forward to getting mine. Thanks for sharing your ride with us...
@smalltalkingchicken No I ended up getting a 2000 road king classic.. and I pick it up tomorrow...I can't wait to get her out on the BLVD and do some Cruizing....How many miles have you got on her now.and how do you like it..... She sounds good...Tom
@USMCjunior117 NO no no no no no no. This bike is 830 lbs. If you don't already have the proper sense of balance, you are likely to break your own leg when you tip over. Also, it happens to handle very well, but without learning the fundamentals (meaning fallling over, dropping the bike, making mistakes, having close calls) you will never really hit your groove with the bike. Start on something cheap, cut your teeth, and move up to something larger when ready. Check my blog (in the comments
@USMCjunior117 Nightster is a great ride, and probably not bad if you don't mind paying $ to fix when you have a mistake. In the comments for this vid, click the link to the blog, then grab the "guide to buying a bike" link on the far right top corner. All explained there. Basically, nightster is great if you have $ for repairs.
every time I say..I won't get a black hog, I see one like this and think.."Class"......"pure class' . Tastefully kitted with white walls.. this is ..."sex on wheels!' I am green with envy!!! haha! keep em' Black!
Buy a Harley and experience it before the big ride is over down here, but of course you know there will be Harley Davidson in heaven and miles of road.
You hit the nail on the head though. The Heritage is a gorgeous bike and a really nice ride. Safe, powerful, and fun. Good on you, and let me know how you like it when you write that check. P.S. We got plenty fires here in the US of A, y'know. Just saying.
@extsieg Wait, Mr. Jealousy, you want to really turn green? Google PAYS ME for people viewing my video! You just gave me money by your sniveling comment! I may actually spend it on more chrome, or better pipes!
If you would be so good as to complain about these upgrades as well, I will continue to provide videos that span the globe generating income.
We were looking at the 48 and the Nightster for my fiancee, but I have decided on another King for me. Awesome bike, my friend! Love the Ultra front bumper and white walls! Very classy sled, my friend! Be safe out there!
What do you make of all the guys on these forums who have swapped over to a big Jap cruiser (for reasons that are their own), but lremind Harley riders that they've bough into HD's brainwashing, etc, etc, etc and that the (fill in the blank Jap bike) is the best ride they've ever had? What do you say to those guys? I'm 52 and just pulled the trigger on a Heritage Softail Classic and yes...it costs more but it's American iron and holds its value way better from what I've seen. Wrong or right?
@Imustfly No offense, but if you're 52 you should have better things to do than give a damn what people say. Hint: most people are totally retarded. Besides, no one knows what's better for #1 than - yes - #1. You like your softail? Then ride safe and enjoy yourself. I have a jap bike too, and I don't hate it. Sometimes I ride one, sometimes the other. I doubt anyone cares =)
@smalltalkingchicken Thanks for the viewpoint...and yes I have better things to do, but I was really looking for info. Like I said, I selected a HSC, but since I"m an overseas contracted firefighter, I don't have to actually finalize my choice till I "write the check" and the factory builds it. I have no doubt that the Jap bikes are very well engineered, my observation was mainly at the asinine "my dog can beat up your dog" bullsh!t that gets in the way of a guy like me who's looking for info.
I think I made a prudent decision and I'm going w/ the RKC! It's practical for me (i.e. carrying my stuff) and the ability to carry a passenger comfortably. As well, I found one locally for the right price, very low miles (like 450 miles), some aftermarket stuff and it's in excellent condition! I almost can't wait - I'm getting it this Saturday! Yea Me!!!!
for 20 grand you would think that harley davidson would offer screaming eagles or vance and hines as an option package with your accesories....but still sounds good with stock pipes ...nice bike
I was looking at the Nightster and then the 48, still a bit undecided.. but after thinking a/b it for some time, the touring bike is the way to go for me and it's the Road King. Thanks for the vid, and your bike is absolutely beautiful!
@buddydog1956 Hey, thank you. The 48 and other sportster-type rides are gorgeous and fast, but you have to ask yourself what you really want. Road King Classic is about the ride: any time, any place. Not showboating, not racing. Well, sometimes showboating =P
beautiful bike man. That is the same year & color my unlce is looking to buy next week. I own a 1989 FLHS but she's down for a while since my crankshaft gave out on me :( Anyways bike looks & sounds beautiful!
Couple of other nice things to do: Chrome Fender skirt, Red run brake kit (all lights stay red all the time and brighter with brake pedal pressed.) Very nice at night. Head bolt covers, chrome inner primary, RKC windshield bag. Nice bike.
Very nice bike. Just my 2 cents, Get some Vance& Hines pipes and you will be rockin' There not too loud ,but they are loud Just perfect sound and no headache with them.
According to Harley-Davidson, the "stage II" kit is an upgrade from 96" to 103" AND swapping the stock cams for SE-255 cams, in addition to a change in the air cleaner (upgrade to Screamin' Eagle).
What info were you looking for? Try my blog - the link is on the side. Put in "stage 2" or "stage II" and you'll get it all.
is the stage 2 the highest level of performance harley offers? in your opinion is this the best performance kit to put pn a roadking vs other performance products out in th market? I am a new enthusiast dont know much but I would like to learn maybe ican get a roadkiong within 1 1/2 from now:)
Harley has sets of parts they call kits, and i believe there are 4 stages of kits. Only stage 1 and 2 are street-legal, but the race catalog has the stage 3 and 4 kits AND all the other parts you'd want - they made your engine and everything in it. I have no experience with upgraded kits other than the stage 2 (as compared with stock) and IMO it's A-MAZING. I suppose the 3 and 4 are better, but I don't want to go around flouting the law. Your mileage may vary~
I just got the fender rail installed on my 98. I had been dabbling with the idea for a while and your video finally did the trick. Bike looks f&^&%$%g awesome.
Thanks! The "bulky" feel of chrome, believe it or not, is exactly what I love. It feels retro. It feels mid-century (20th, that is). It's like saying, "i'm not in a rush to get anywhere, and i'm not going to run out of chrome anytime soon, so i'll fix this big piece on here like so..."

Imustfly 1 year ago

I have no doubt that the Jap bikes are very well engineered, my observation was mainly at the asinine "my dog can beat up your dog" bullsh!t that gets in the way of a guy like me who's looking for info.

smalltalkingchicken.....thanks for the reply!

@bozo47p Thanks. All any company cares about is "more more more."

I was looking at the Nightster and then the 48, still a bit undecided.. but after thinking a/b it for some time, the touring bike is the way to go for me and it's the Road King. Thanks for the vid, and your bike is absolutely beautiful!
D. from N.O. a bientot et bonne chance!
buddydog1956 1 year ago
@buddydog1956 Hey, thank you. The 48 and other sportster-type rides are gorgeous and fast, but you have to ask yourself what you really want. Road King Classic is about the ride: any time, any place. Not showboating, not racing. Well, sometimes showboating =P

@DragonAge1103 Thanks, and good luck to ya! They don't call it a "Road King" for no reason!

Couple of other nice things to do: Chrome Fender skirt, Red run brake kit (all lights stay red all the time and brighter with brake pedal pressed.) Very nice at night. Head bolt covers, chrome inner primary, RKC windshield bag. Nice bike.

How much you got in that bike with all those mods?
larrystaton 2 years ago
Very nice bike. Just my 2 cents, Get some Vance& Hines pipes and you will be rockin' There not too loud ,but they are loud Just perfect sound and no headache with them.

Nice bike, you've got good taste!!!
I got my '10 FLHRC in the beginning of September.
Awesome looks, incredibly comfortable ride... What more could you ask for?
Anyway... Have fun with her and keep the rubber-side down.
StoneE4 2 years ago
Why thank you! And you with a '10 as well, equally good taste, sir!
I couldn't agree more about the looks and the ride - and yes, what else is there?
Safe rides, and see you out there!

when u say "stage 2" u do not have any technical performance meanings to it do you? but just mean it is in 2nd stage of your own personal upgrade?
64miguel 2 years ago
According to Harley-Davidson, the "stage II" kit is an upgrade from 96" to 103" AND swapping the stock cams for SE-255 cams, in addition to a change in the air cleaner (upgrade to Screamin' Eagle).
What info were you looking for? Try my blog - the link is on the side. Put in "stage 2" or "stage II" and you'll get it all.
smalltalkingchicken 2 years ago
is the stage 2 the highest level of performance harley offers? in your opinion is this the best performance kit to put pn a roadking vs other performance products out in th market? I am a new enthusiast dont know much but I would like to learn maybe ican get a roadkiong within 1 1/2 from now:)
64miguel 2 years ago
