Im from Germany, and I love my country! I'm proud to say, I'm an German. Our nation stands for strong military, discipline and loyality, in the past, today, and also in the future. I am not ashamed of Nationalsocialism. This is an part of our history, and we have to accept that. But every nation has dark parts in history. Spain and Portugal for Colonialism, Britain and America for the worset slavery, China and Russia for Socialism (still today).

I hate both Hitler and the Allies during the conclusion of the Second World War. Hitler propagated himself as a Frederick the Great figure (the two aren't even remotely similar) and built nationalism upon it. As a response in the conclusion of WW2, the Allies blamed Prussian history for the atrocities that occurred and quite literally went about erasing it from history.

Yes, girls watch it the most, but when you get right down to it it's a kid's/young teen cartoon, which means it's mostly comedy and isn't really geared to one gender or the other. @KriegMarshal94 Okay, just a point - for 2), I don't think the "back to the 1930s" bit is true, since Egypt has 1,005 M1A1s (according to wikipedia) which can do just about anything they want to WW2-era tanks.
Also, Egypt has a surprisingly large military, I'd have bet in their favour if they only had like a hundred modern tanks but... damn. I guess it's because they own the suez canal.

@EvansRowan123 Okay, granted, I haven't really looked up the Egyptian military in a while xD Though the other part of fighting a war is having the ability to continue fighting the war. 1000+ tanks is nice... but Egypt can't support a war longer than a few months. Same goes for most middle eastern countries - that's why their wars (minus guerilla tactics) don't last long.

@KriegMarshal94 I'd argue that that's just because of the pace of modern war in general, or something else, if they weren't able to support their armies in combat they wouldn't have that much equipment on hand, it's expensive.
Although that's just an assumption, and I'm not sure where to go to research it, and we're kind of talking about a tank division being sent to the 1930s so the supply chain is gone anyway.
@EvansRowan123 Well it's not so much that they can't support it, it's that it's more a defensive army, so it can be big. The whole area is a massive desert, and there's not as much industry as in nations in Europe or the Far East. Modern wars take as long as they ever did if the opponents are evenly matched.

Unless they can reverse-engineer the intervening 70 years of technology, the tanks they make will still be worthless against modern guns and armour. Plus, modern things like APCs and helicopters mean the Egyptian army, on being sent back in time, could do more effective blitzkrieg than the people who invented blitzkrieg.

@EvansRowan123 Never say 'useless' my friend. ;) The guns are bigger and armor better on modern tanks, but APC's and helicopters aren't as modern as you might think. APC's have been around since the halftrack, and really, since the first armored cars. Helicopters were being developed in WW2, and were flying regularly by the Korean War 5 years later (would have been sooner, but they weren't really needed in WW2). So yes, the Egyptians do have the advanced tech, but this comes with a burden (cont)
@EvansRowan123 that all modern armies face. They have to be able to re-arm and repair these vehicles. Fuel? Simple- take over someone close, like the Saudis. Easily done and you can make fuel. Ammo? For infantry that's easy. For modern tanks? Not so much, especially when they don't produce the tank itself. An M1A1 Abrams is a great tank, one of the best, but it all boils down to if you can use that big 120mm cannon. They could surely figure out some sort of ammo for it, maybe even produce (cont)

@EvansRowan123 The point though is that modern missiles vs hundreds of shells... well... might not really be as bad for the older ships. Not saying it's not damn impressive and the damage wouldn't be horrible, but over half the German navy was subs too. Modern ships only carry so many missiles and torpedoes. Oldschool ships and subs carried a lot more ammo and were /made/ to take a hit. A conventional tomahawk missile has a 1,000lb warhead, but doesn't penetrate much. 16" armor piercing shells -
@KriegMarshal94 The Egyptian navy has missiles with ranges of up to 120km, and nothing afloat in the 1930s even knows what CIWS means, so every single missile will hit its respective target while the enemy is still on the other side of the horizon. A standup fight just isn't going to happen.
@EvansRowan123 Range is great... but that's just the thing. Max range doesn't matter unless you have a way to lock onto the target, and radar doesn't go that far. It can go about to the horizon and stop if you're at sea level. If they have AWACs (and they do, they have a couple E-2 Hawkeyes) then yeah, they can shoot that far in theory, and blow the surface navy outta the water.
What Egypt lacks is the capacity to deal with subs in large numbers, which the Germans have a lot of.
@KriegMarshal94 I'm pretty sure they have pretty good sonar, and I'm not sure 1939's Kriegsmarine had any sonar on its subs. I think that was a British thing only for a while.
That alone is pretty damning against the German subs. While they're submerged, they're sitting ducks for the ASW helicopters, which can just make a few return trips without getting too bothered.
@EvansRowan123 Modern Egypt has great sonar. Truth told, I'm not sure about the Kriegsmarine and sonar on their subs either, but I think they did. Maybe. I'd have to research it. I would assume so, but... not sure. Would seem odd to me if they didn't, but stranger things have happened.
Far as the choppers go... kinda depends on the sonar and whether it's on the subs or not. If not, you're right. If so, then it's the number of subs that matters.
@EvansRowan123 had nearly three times the explosive power, but rarely caused catastrophic damage unless they managed to hit a magazine, which wasn't all that common.
And if there's gonna be aircraft in this, let's remember, the Germans would bring theirs too. That means a division of who is doing what, some jets are gonna go after ships, others after planes. Now, are a bunch of Bf 109's gonna dogfight with F-16's? No. They would DIE, and fast. However, they can fly a lot lower safely. (cont)

When you get right down to it, the Egyptians have far superior weapons, and could kick WW2 Germany's ass when evenly matched, or even with bad odds, but the war wouldn't end quickly, and that is what would play to Germany's favor.(cont)
@KriegMarshal94 You say that like Bf-109s get a choice in the matter. The plane with three times the top speed, a 6km advantage in ceiling, and four times the maximum range is the one that gets to make the decisions there.
Then, if they can somehow avoid detection by radar, they still have to worry about modern anti-aircraft weapons. I'm not sure if guided missiles can properly track a propeller aircraft, but even if they can't there are sill plenty of chainguns on hand.
@EvansRowan123 Well I'm assuming the Germans are on the offensive, since the Egyptians don't really have a reason to be. The offense always picks the battle, the defender reacts to the situation. F-16's are great as missile platforms and for dogfighting high up. Modern fighter pilots everywhere are trained never to get too close to the ground in a dogfight, because the jets are too fast for it. In WW2 dogfights just over the treetops were still common. @EvansRowan123 aren't really any worse than a machinegun. More bullets... but still the same straight line of them, and no more accurate under manual control. Radar gets finicky under 50ft, and most SAMs aren't great for low level. Shoulder fired stingers could work, but unless you're a Russian in a Hind, they aren't too hard to lose (though the Germans wouldn't have the missile lock warning for a heads up, so they've have to learn the hard way).
@EvansRowan123 vessels, something like 30 ships from the 60's through 80's, and all the rest are mine layers and fast attack ships. The Kriegsmarine had around 100 vessels at the outset, over half of which were subs and a couple were battleships.
@EvansRowan123 Germany could toss piston powered planes and clunky Panzers at Egypt all day and probably not get anywhere /tactically/. Logistically is where Germany wins the day. The Egyptians can produce an Abrams, and the ammo, and the parts, and everything needed for it, same with the F-16's and other aircraft. The problem is the cost of it and the toll on their infrastructure. The tanks, jets, missiles - it's all really expensive. A sidewinder would be worth more than the 109 it shot down.
Ummm Germany isn't a "Reich" anymore, it's the "Federal Republic of Germany" nowadays. The "German Empire/Deutsches Reich" lasted from German unification in 1871 to the end of WW1 in 1918.

Well, not really. Most Germans are ashamed of their own country nowadays. You'd be considered "weird" if you wave a German flag publicly, except in big events. The British and Americans turned Germany into a land of hippies and every sense of German patriotism was destroyed after WW2. The Deutsches Reich, the first REAL Germany under Bismarck and the Hohenzollerns was a country built on German pride and patriotism. That is long gone nowadays, and it's completely the opposite.

I hate both Hitler and the Allies during the conclusion of the Second World War. Hitler propagated himself as a Frederick the Great figure (the two aren't even remotely similar) and built nationalism upon it. As a response in the conclusion of WW2, the Allies blamed Prussian history for the atrocities that occurred and quite literally went about erasing it from history.

Yes, girls watch it the most, but when you get right down to it it's a kid's/young teen cartoon, which means it's mostly comedy and isn't really geared to one gender or the other. @KriegMarshal94 Okay, just a point - for 2), I don't think the "back to the 1930s" bit is true, since Egypt has 1,005 M1A1s (according to wikipedia) which can do just about anything they want to WW2-era tanks.
Also, Egypt has a surprisingly large military, I'd have bet in their favour if they only had like a hundred modern tanks but... damn. I guess it's because they own the suez canal.

Same goes for most middle eastern countries - that's why their wars (minus guerilla tactics) don't last long.

@KriegMarshal94 I'd argue that that's just because of the pace of modern war in general, or something else, if they weren't able to support their armies in combat they wouldn't have that much equipment on hand, it's expensive.
Although that's just an assumption, and I'm not sure where to go to research it, and we're kind of talking about a tank division being sent to the 1930s so the supply chain is gone anyway.

The whole area is a massive desert, and there's not as much industry as in nations in Europe or the Far East. Modern wars take as long as they ever did if the opponents are evenly matched.

Unless they can reverse-engineer the intervening 70 years of technology, the tanks they make will still be worthless against modern guns and armour. Plus, modern things like APCs and helicopters mean the Egyptian army, on being sent back in time, could do more effective blitzkrieg than the people who invented blitzkrieg.
I kind of want to see this turned into a movie or a video game or something.

@EvansRowan123 Never say 'useless' my friend. ;) The guns are bigger and armor better on modern tanks, but APC's and helicopters aren't as modern as you might think. APC's have been around since the halftrack, and really, since the first armored cars. Helicopters were being developed in WW2, and were flying regularly by the Korean War 5 years later (would have been sooner, but they weren't really needed in WW2). So yes, the Egyptians do have the advanced tech, but this comes with a burden (cont)

@EvansRowan123 that all modern armies face. They have to be able to re-arm and repair these vehicles. Fuel? Simple- take over someone close, like the Saudis. Easily done and you can make fuel. Ammo? For infantry that's easy. For modern tanks? Not so much, especially when they don't produce the tank itself. An M1A1 Abrams is a great tank, one of the best, but it all boils down to if you can use that big 120mm cannon. They could surely figure out some sort of ammo for it, maybe even produce (cont)

The Egyptian Army has just over 1,000 tanks. The Wermacht has over 22,000, not including tank destoyers.
The Egyptian navy.... well, they subs 4 produced by the Russians in the 1950's, which were basically copies of German electric subs from the 40's. They have.... 10 - 15 modern naval (cont)

Not saying it's not damn impressive and the damage wouldn't be horrible, but over half the German navy was subs too. Modern ships only carry so many missiles and torpedoes. @EvansRowan123 Range is great... but that's just the thing. Max range doesn't matter unless you have a way to lock onto the target, and radar doesn't go that far. It can go about to the horizon and stop if you're at sea level. If they have AWACs (and they do, they have a couple E-2 Hawkeyes) then yeah, they can shoot that far in theory, and blow the surface navy outta the water.
What Egypt lacks is the capacity to deal with subs in large numbers, which the Germans have a lot of.

@KriegMarshal94 You say that like Bf-109s get a choice in the matter. The plane with three times the top speed, a 6km advantage in ceiling, and four times the maximum range is the one that gets to make the decisions there.
Then, if they can somehow avoid detection by radar, they still have to worry about modern anti-aircraft weapons. I'm not sure if guided missiles can properly track a propeller aircraft, but even if they can't there are sill plenty of chainguns on hand.

F-16's are great as missile platforms and for dogfighting high up. @EvansRowan123 aren't really any worse than a machinegun. More bullets... but still the same straight line of them, and no more accurate under manual control. Radar gets finicky under 50ft, and most SAMs aren't great for low level. Shoulder fired stingers could work, but unless you're a Russian in a Hind, they aren't too hard to lose (though the Germans wouldn't have the missile lock warning for a heads up, so they've have to learn the hard way).

The Egyptians can produce an Abrams, and the ammo, and the parts, and everything needed for it, same with the F-16's and other aircraft. The problem is the cost of it and the toll on their infrastructure. The tanks, jets, missiles - it's all really expensive. A sidewinder would be worth more than the 109 it shot down.

The British and Americans turned Germany into a land of hippies and every sense of German patriotism was destroyed after WW2. The Deutsches Reich, the first REAL Germany under Bismarck and the Hohenzollerns was a country built on German pride and patriotism. That is long gone nowadays, and it's completely the opposite.
