Hey, music lovers. Check out my tube to see my songwriting. I hope you will find my music to be inspiring. My music is a mix of contemporary and alternative, par example: Coldplay, U2, Prince, Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams. Please, come in!
He's actually playing a Gretsch here but I think he was playing a Fender in London just to test out the different sounds between guitars to see which one would sound best live.
I don't know who did the sound for this track, but the band sounds so dialed in...just listen to the bass. And it looks like they are playing with a simple club setup of amps. Great Live Performance.
I have been playing my Fender for 2 hours to Adam Clayton's bass lines- nice and minor chords- He takes the lead through the whole song and lets the Edge delicately jam!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely a concert opener. Great song. They have come a long way since I saw them perform at Stony Brook University Gymnasium in the early 80's that's for sure.
Hey thekingzo. I was just like u four years ago, i didnt listen to U2 until i heard How to dismantle an atomic bomb. Then i went back and heard their other albums, and now im a diehard fan!
...magnificent song of the year....u2...best band in the history of music....where the streets have no name live in sidney (zoo tv...)...best live performance of all time...thank you u2!!!!see you in milan....
A little question for anyone who was there. Were you close enough to see if Clayton, the bassist, bass guitar was actually working? There was a bass line going and he wasn't touching the frets during the lead, or am i dreaming.
Ok than who was playing the synth? Now don't tell me there isn't a little playback through the song. Not totally live do you agree? That's what i was getting at about the bass line.
Most of U2's live stuff, ever since Joshua Tree and Zoo TV tour has had a sequence track running with it. Nothing wrong w that, actually some minimal sequencing can be incredibly useful, and fun to play along with, if used minimally...
Most of there stuff, ever since joshua tree, has had a live sequence track, nothing wrong with that. Check out Peter Gabriel from his Secret World tour, sometimes, sequencing, at a minimal level is pretty fuckin cool!
looooool, i can't stop laughing, stupid trynnadeast8 makes me laaaaaaugh!!!! you should check out the word "mediocre" again.. and then check out their life performances, they're STUNNING. U2's GREAT: fact.
The fuck are you even talking about? Joshua Tree B-side? For a start, that album was how long ago? Different time, different era in music. This song could easily have been put on any U2 album of the 80's and no one would complain. BTW the sound in this track sounds more like the War and Unforgettable Fire harmonics. Shows you how much of a clue you have.
Yes , this song is fantastic, thanks U2 you are the best... PARA TODOS LOS AMIGOS DE HABLA ESPA;OLA, miren a bono crisitiano y todo sin estar encerrado en cuatro paredes y dandose golpes de pecho , esto es el nuevo evangelio.. arriba Dios And then thanks again Bono
in fact seeing that video my skin gets lake a hen, it's amazing how bono introduce the song, people get very enthusiastc and i can imagine how i will get when i heard that song in a stadium with more than 6000 persons including me doing that
i thought that here he showed us that he is a person for entertaiment and he do it well
that's a good point. i definitely see the unforgettable fire in here now that you mention it. the intro of magnificent, though, remind me of "electrical storm," which i believe was only released as a single and on 1990-2000 but recorded during the all you can't leave behind sessions.
"stand up comedy" and" unknown caller" are great, too, but i think this is the best song on the album; agreed, hothotheat3000!
I usually hate U2 but I would listen to an instrumental version of this quite happily. Lets not get carried away his voice live or studio recorded is still horrible.
this shows how MAGNIFICENT u2 is !!! - the way they can reach across generations and stay relevant!!!! The album is great - not the greatest of all time- but how many times can a band come up with that? Why does everything have to be rated and put in context anyway? Can't we just enjoy it for what it is?
i love the videos, but they are 10 times better live, i was at this concert, it was a "secret" show, that was for Fordham University Staff and students, and for Fordham Prep staff and students, it was a great show, great group
Also, I'm tired of hearing what an ass Bono is. U2 has had the same lineup for 30+ years. Not many bands can say that. If he were such a jerk, adam and larry would have left long ago.
The guy is using his fame to end extreme poverty and help poor nations get out from under crushing debt. How can you be opposed to that?
Yes he loves being a rock star - something he readily admits. But guess what? He IS a rock star. So I say if that bugs you (or you're jealous) let that go and appreciate the amazing work he's doing to use his talent and fame to change the world.
I know the comments are fun comments but just to clarify- Bono may be small, yet during the early years, I mean small seedy venues around Dublin -emerging from Punk, crowds that spit on you to show their "appreciation" -it was Bono that was the aggressive one, the reactionary one, the bar-room brawler.
He's not a guy you would have tried to beat the shit out of - he really wasn't.
This song sounds incredible live! When The Edge came over to sign stuffs outside the Letterman show on Thu night, I told him , "Edge, I LOVE Magnificent!! It's so awesome!" He smiled a big smile, looked at me and said, "Thank you"
He knows there's at least one fan out there who likes the song! :) Thanks for posting this!
I like the live version better 'cuz the Edge's guitar is clearer and louder! Wish it were like that on the actual album version. More U2 on Letterman in about 30 minutes!!!!!
Bono and U2 have such a positive rapport with the students, it's easy to see how their music will have a lasting quality with the common folks! Thanks for this!
Thee boyz R back !!!!! Raw emotion & adrenaline even from the TV. The best representation of God's Grace I've heard in a song, I'd say up there with thee Psalms for me !!!!

serge848 2 years ago
Adam is magic, can play without touching the bass..
U2SSana 2 years ago
Actually theres an E on the bass line that you can play it open (as he does).
It means that he doesn't need to play the fret board, just the open string. :)
MusicManFenders 2 years ago
Ok than who was playing the synth? Now don't tell me there isn't a little playback through the song. Not totally live do you agree? That's what i was getting at about the bass line.
serge848 2 years ago
No, theres a keyboard player behind the stage.
If you watch the U2 3D premier, when they play Where the Streets Have No Name, you'll notice the keyboard player (on the left).
On the Vertigo tour, he played under stage the
stage. :D
MusicManFenders 2 years ago
Behind the stage? In the video, it shows all the angles and i swear there is no keyboard player.
serge848 2 years ago
Watch this: /watch?v=c9UxBUA3L_w
The guy in the left of Larry is U2's current keyboard player :D.
Why would I lie? Theres in fact a interview with him, dunno where, just search on the web.

Best band ever asshole. Just because their Joshua Tree stuff was SO great doesn't mean this isn't good.
