  • Really wanna hear a mic through this thing...

  • unexpected quality from digitech!

  • how would 2:30 sound if you were going into a distorted amp instead of a distortion pedal?

  • bohemian rhapsody somewhere?

  • hows the tracking on this pedal ?? i hope it dosent lag when you play note by note or does it ? i have the boss ps-5 shiffter and it sucks !!! tracking is horrible.

  • 2:58 Reminds me of a song that my high school jazz band did. too bad i dont remember what song it is. it sounds really cool.

  • 2:30 Sounds alike to A7X. haha.

  • @mmatin08 to not interfere with copyrights the played the riff differently but indeed is A7X

  • Dammit. It sounds SO AWESOME. And it seems like it's great for stupid people who almost don't know shit about musical theory. Like me.

  • What do you need to utilize the "distortion loop" as it says on the video? Can't that sound (at 2:35) be achieved by simply using a channel with distortion on your amp?

  • Eventide Harmonizer for life ! !

    what is this shit ?

  • @mqmqmwmw Oh well, different oppinions

  • how the hell are u supposed to hook this into a pedalboard setup that already has noise gate loops with this having its own dirt loop, mono in and stereo outs? wtf

  • 4:20 Hotel California :)

Great demo btw, love hearing Andy playing !

  • "Top Gear" theme - brilliant start to the video :)

  • @Vercingetorix Or better known as "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers Band.

  • 2:30

Real sweet melodic death metal thing going. Exactly what I am looking for. Now I know what I am looking for next guitar center trip.(When I got the money for this bank busting s.o.b.)

  • how many octaves

  • So if you change keys will the harmony man change keys as well?

  • I want this but since I can not have it I am just going to sit here an cry :[

  • I LOVE THIS!!! BEST THING EVER!!!

  • I forgot to add, great demo, thank you.

  • Starting with The Allman Brothers = FRIGGIN' GENIOUS.

  • Hello Andy!

  • what is he playing on the beginning .. i think i heard that somewhere

  • @XXXM3T4LL1C4XXX

Jessica by The Allman Brothers Band, it's also the theme to Top Gear

  • so what the distortion loop allows you to do is to harmonize the signal and blend it with the distorted signal?, so what you get at the end is your distorted signal and the clean harmonized signal?

  • o yea, and nice hotel california at the end!

  • phooey, the guy at guitar center couldnt find an adapter that would fit the plug on this one, so i could never try it, sounds a lot more believable than the boss one i have

  • Damn alot of buttons I`m confused xD

  • Do I have to have a distortion pedal hooked up to this harmony man if my amp already has built in distortion. I'm trying to duplicate the harmony for Round and Round (Ratt). No getting the correct interval. This pedal is like aforeign language to me and I have no idea what I'm doing.

  • I love how you play one thing every video where I'm like WOAHHHH

  • so this pedal detects the key, you slap the harmony on, and then you can play whatever you want and it'll be in that key?

  • TOP GEAR!!!!

  • What distortion pedal do you use in this video?

  • Man, I love this video. It made me go buy the pedal right away! I swear I have watched this 4 times because it is the best way to learn how to use the pedal. Thanks man and keep playin!! =j

  • so wat. wen its turned on. bottom line is it creames double wat your playing but the 2nd guitar is higher creating the harmonie?

  • @Warnazzz dude ur an idiot. do u even know what ur talkin about?

  • OMG I THINK I JUST JIZZED lol

  • can you save different harmonies?

  • for all the people makin the top gear comments, that be the allman brothers :)

  • The Allman Brothers!! Jessica good one Andy ;)

  • I was wondering how should I do if for example I wanna connect the harmony man with a delay and a reverb pedal all in the fx loop. Do I still have to connect the output of the guitar to the input of the harmony man or can I put the guitar on the fx that are in the chain that goes to the input of the amp? I'm a little bit confused :)

  • Metal bands no longer need 17 guitarists.

  • top gear

  • 3:35 sounded so Mayish! Pretty smart pedal there!

  • for the song Ballerina 12/24 by Steve vai be good to do with this pedal?

  • @StratBanez101 the eventide pitchfactor has a preset for ballerina 12/24

  • do you think this would be sold in a guitar center? and yeah i heard the eagles song on here!!! i love the eagles!

  • do you think this would be sold in a guitar center?

  • TOP GEAR THEME!!!

  • does it do 2 part harmonies as well?

  • Whats that music playing in the background when ur tellin us about the pedal called?

  • ahh its the top gear song :D

  • What happens when bending to an out-of-scale note?^^

  • I don't mean to be a snob or anything, but just curious:

    1) Does it only recognize the major/minor scale and the modes, or can you use it to more dissonant scales like melod. minor, diminished, etc?

    2) Let's say you're playing a tune that changes keys quickly (e.g. a bebop tune), would it recognize it?

    3) In the last example (Hotel California) there is some independent voice movement (the 3rds become 4ths). Does the pedal "create" the harmonies freely (not only all voices moving equally)?

  • TOP GEAR!

  • Sweet Jessica :)

  • 2:20 trust - antisocial ?

  • Yeh!!!! Top Gear theme song

  • top gear yeah!!

  • I NEEEED THIS

  • Does this item do de-tuning as well? Like a droptune or does it have horrid tracking?

    Great demo btw.

  • at @3:30 Very Queen / Brian Mays sounding.

  • @ziger824 it's bohemian rapshody

  • @ziger824 sounds dead on!

  • @ziger824 i think it's from bohemian rhapsody

  • you make it sound so good =(

  • Can you do harmonies with the micro pog? I'm looking for something to do Allman Bros and Thin Lizzy harmonies but I like the fact that the micro pog handles chords. Let me know what you guys think!

  • ive got a question about this

I'm having really much noise when pitching to other intervals than ovtaves and playing with a distorted sound with my HM2.

how can I solve that? i already tried less gain (didn't work) and turning down the guitar's volume (didn't work either).

    guitar's a LTD kh-202, the amp is an AD50VT.

    appreciating any help :D

  • very a la dragonforce

  • why do you always play cheesy classic rock stuff to demonstrate pedals

  • @joewrong thank god he doesn't play lame kiddy stuff like iron maiden and megadeath that often though, lame dungeons and dragons/warhammer bands

  • @MayonaiseKing100 you mean like the new heavy metal kiddy stuff, lame solos no backbeat, generic guitar tones that all sound the same, bands you could switch out members and never notice a difference, cookie monster vocals, or repetive grooves that get really boring, oh yah they often don't have enough melody lines to ever need this pedal, besides when iron maiden first came out, it wasn't the d&d crowd, that listened, but that's what happens when your music is popular for 20 years or more.

  • doesnt Yngwie Malmsteen use one of these?

  • How will the pedal work with something like the Dunlop Slash Crybaby that has a distortion channel built in? Would the wah go in the loop, before the HM2 or AFTER it?

  • Will The memory store a "key" as well as the harmonies or octaves ?

I am a sax player looking for a solution , Thanx

  • TOP GEAR!!!!!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

    lol :)

  • 0:21 badass :)

  • Top Gear!

  • 3:35 Brian May Kicks Butt

  • Hey, I just bought this pedal (I already have the jamman) I was wondering how to hook up the two so I can use them simaltaneously while hearing the loop playback...I can't figure it out. And also, should I put my distortion and Rotovibe pedal in the distortion send. Thanks for your help. Keep on Rocking!

  • jessica song?...

  • how much do these run for?

  • if you do lets say, 5 low, and ur tuned in standard E, if u play a F# on the low E, does it sound like a B powerchord?

  • if you do lets say, 5 low, and ur tuned in standard E, if u play a F# on the low E, does it sound like a B powerchord?

  • hi can i use this pedal with clarinet or accordion?

  • @feb041999 for sure if you have an amplifier for those instruments

  • Almost unholy confessions riff... very similar

  • Almost unholy confessions riff... very similar

  • Would you please advis e me Is this capable of 3 part harmonies ( above and below the notes played ) and automatically detects the correect key according to the chords played into the auxillary input ?? So it can do a Brian May Steve Vai type harmony

whereas the Boss PS 5 will provide a harmony note either below or above to create a Thin Lizzy type 2 part harmony based on the scale and key you've chosen. ?? Thanks Craig

  • jessicaaaaaa

  • TOP GEAR!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @iamnotkris2 kris this shit is going to be off the hisills

  • whats better, digitech harmonyman or the boss ps-5 phase shifter?

  • @horusoftheblackflame Harmonyman

  • This plus, Devi Ever bit is win.

  • I

    SHIT

    BRICKS

I'm GASing so damn hard over this..

  • UGH freakin GAS all the dang time!!!

  • can it be used in a harmonic minor scale?

    (minor scale with augmented 7)

  • haha top gear intro:D

  • cool demo

  • dragonforce -esque? maybe

  • just wondering, to use this with distortion (and for it to track cleanly) would i have to run it through the effects loop in my head?

i already run my Hardwire Delay through the effects loop, so what sort of order would i need?

    thanks! :)

  • @LaurenceArmitage with something like this, id try it running direct from the guitar. it would work running in the loop im sure, but like the guy says, harmonizers like a clean input. i think it would get too muddy if you run this with too many other pedals....but thats just what i would assume

  • First in the FX chain, same with any pitch-shifting device, if you want it to track cleanly,

  • You'd have to run this pedal before distortion or delay so that it (the pedal) can read it clearly.

  • @LaurenceArmitage You have an effects loop in your head? Just kidding. Yes i would run it through the loop before the delay. Depends on preference though.

  • what is a good heavy metal distoryion pedal?

  • @10yearsofdying I use a Boss MT2 through a Marshall MG50DFX amp, works well for me, although I am sure if I got a better amp I wouldn't need the MT2. Really it is probably a better idea to get a decent amp suited to heavy metal, as distortion pedals can be somewhat limited and if gain is too high the distortion tone will just sound like a swarm of angry bees in a jar with lots of uncontrollable feedback. Look to distortion pedals only if you can't afford a good amp. My 2 cents :)

  • Okay, all i want to know is...why does this thing need to have a clean input...if im playing through my marshall jmp's natural distortion this thing isnt gonna work??? whats the deal with this distortion loop thing? i just dont understand...all i ever see is the clean tone harmonies, where the Thin Lizzy man?!

  • To be short and sweet, you never want to place distortion before pitch shifting pedals, they won't track accurately. Your amp settings are irrelevant, that's after the signal is processed. The loop lets you distort your signal before it get's shifted, which sounds more convincing than placing a pedal after the HM2..the manual in online too :)

  • ahh, i see...well i have a booster pedal first on my board anyway, so i suppose it wont matter then?

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

I had the same question... Thanks!

But if i send the output signal of the pedal to the imput channel of my amp. And then i set the distortion from this last one. Sound will be good?

    (Sorry for bad english :D)

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos You touched on something I've been trying to figure out: if you want have a lot of gain in conjunction with this pedal, do you have to use the distortion send/return or can you just run it after the harmony man? The reason I ask is because my distortion and the bulk of my other effects come from a floor board (Line 6 Floor Pod Plus), so tacking that on to the back of this one pedal wouldn't exactly be practical for me.

  • @jflotrogdor running the distortion in the loop shifts the distorted signal, sounding like 2 disto guitars in harmony. Running the distortion after the output distorts the notes together, kind of like playing it on one guitar. To hear the difference record yourself playing a simple succession of thirds first together through distortion, then overdub the upper note over the previously recorded lower one. Mod and delay effects probably need to go after, which is the rub for multi effects units.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos So for example, would you not want to put distortion/overdrive and other volume related pedals before a digitech whammy in your line?

  • @Trophywifepa - Probably not, due to the potential for tracking issues, but feel free to experiment. Some people probably use it that way and like it.

    - PGS

  • @Trophywifepa a good fuzz is nice b4 the whammy effect, seems whammy tracks better with fuzzed out signals (think there square????)

  • @Trophywifepa I have the whammy and run it before everything else, distortion before pitch shifting sounds horrible to me.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos I didn't understand. From what you say, there are track problems if you have an od before the shift, but you say the loop does exactly that, put the od before the shift. Isn't an amp with od after the shift too, acting like an od pedal? I don't own this but I own a Variax and a XT Live and what I've noticed that it's always harder to track the brighter the sound is, for example the neck pickup gives better results (not always perfect) than the bridge in terms of tracking.

  • OMG! The Top Gear theme!

  • : )

  • I'm a huge Top Gear fan but that tune is an old Allman brothers tune called "Jessica" that the Top Gear folks used a remake of.

  • This ain't an intelligent pedal, and is not worth its money. Why not?

It doesn't feature the phrygian scale, mixolydian, or not even the harmonic minor scale. Does anyone a harmonizer which recognizes harmonic minor?

  • This pedal detects all 7 modes. All you need is the major scale. Set it to G major and B is the begging of Phrygian.

  • pretty much what i was about to say, but it still doesnt do non diatonic keys like harmonic minor suggested, but i geuss you wouldnt reallly want to harmonise that as much

  • top gear lol

  • so it works like a super shifter from boss

  • Can I use my amp's natural innate distortion if I put the harmony man in the FX loop or out in front?

  • well i read on musicians friend that you could . --- tried a few stompbox dist pedals as instructed in manual, and just couldn't get it work/sound well with my rig placing the HM2 in front of my preamp or using my amps send/ret. I noticed when using the dist send/ret of the HM2, that signal is always active, So I tried my pre-amp through the HM2's dist send/ret, my guitar into the clean in of the HM2, stereo out to my G-Major from the HM2.

  • part from 2:30 on sounds like "Unholy Confessions" by Avenged Sevenfold. :)

  • RIP rev :(

  • You played the Top Gear theme tune (Jesseca) at the start!!! I don't know if you have Top Gear in America or not, so you might not know what I'm talking about!!!! Lol.

    Matt.

  • Jeremy ftw? =)

  • the three piece harmony sounds like queen

  • @trocker92

     It was Bohemian Rhapsody

  • is that thing looping at 4:28 ??

  • Would this get confused if I play

    harmonic/ melodic minor?

  • i sure hope not for 300 bucks, because i use that all the time.

  • is it posible if my rhythm is keyboard while im playing solo.. pls help me.. tnx

  • no problem!

  • lol i always think of top gear when i hear that song...

  • like totally dude.....i watched the repeat of the 24 hour endurane race last night

  • oh great more tone sucking digital pedals

  • Not quite the Eventide Pitch Factor, but interesting if you want the more synthetic "Bogus Journey" type sound.

  • GASP!

    At 4:10 is Hotel California!

  • PGS i wanted to know if i could play with the distortion pedal in the loop of the harmony man when the harmony man is turned off

  • yes you can

I run a metal muff through it and it sounds great

and its not that the harmony man is off, its just bypassed

  • This or PS-5? plz tell before i waste cash.

  • This. If you can find one cheap, though, the original digitech whammy (the WH-1) is the greatest octave splitter out there.

  • sounds like iron maiden at 2:20

  • it sounds a bit digital.

  • haha TOP GEAR THEME TUNE!!

  • With the distortion send and return can you play the distortion pedal used in it on its own then kick in the harmony man when ever you want? And if you can does it effect the tone of the distortion? Cus it would suck if you had to buy a seperate distortion pedal just to get a good distortion harmony out of it.

  • What song at 2:20?

  • Unholly Confessions - Avenged sevenfold

  • whaqt is the song at2:58 like a theme song to something and the queen song at 3:30

  • Bohemian Rhapsody, not sure about the other one

  • I don't think 3:30 is a queen song. it is Brian May-ish phrasing, and combined with the harmonies, it can really sound like a Queen number, though.

  • its amazingly resembling, tho

  • Eventide, shut up and take notes...

Imagine a stompbox with the practicality and tracking of the HM2 and the innovation and features of the Pitchfactor...

  • that is fuckin nuts

  • 3:35

    Brian May just jizzed

  • So just wondering, if you bypass the pedal does the signal still go through the distortion or is that bypassed too?

  • Bow down to 3:34

  • sounds like Jason Becker

  • TOP GEAR

  • wow....i've been trying to nail that hotel california lick like that for years...i've so many pedals...my gosh this is IT!!!!!

  • what other pedals are you using to produce the metal tones at 2:30?

  • me likey

  • Best harmoniser I've ever heard. It's almost seamless, which is how it should be.

  • whats at 2:38?

  • is it me... or does this pedal sound more natural in harmonies than the EVENTIDE?

  • i need to have this.. :o

    :D

  • nice Jessica tribute lol its nice to hear some Allman Brothers every once in awhile on these things

  • That minor thing was so fucking sexy! I am buying this for a fact. That 10 seconds what all i needed. This just made my day.

Man i can't wait to hear how sweeps would sound....

  • Top Gear :D .. I love it...

  • Hi guys... what distortion you used in the loop? I really liked it...

    Thanks...
