  • DAT TONE

  • Man, that Vox tremolo is awesome!

  • heavy British accent to sell you more crap music has become nothing about music all about selling you equipment what a rotten shame

  • @sydfloydpink heavy british accent? He is british?

  • Random, but his voice and mannerisms sort of remind me of Mick Jagger.

  • WHY NO EFFECTS LOOP. Orange, you lost a sale. I love my delays far too much.

  • shit amp. MARSHALL all the way

  • @cbarrett34 Marshall makes Vox.

  • @Nickpatient korg makes vox.

  • @cbarrett34 well thats your opinion... mine is totally different

Marshall : no real desirable tone.

Vox AC30 : can't even match that sound.

  • Soulful (and sexy) player :-)

  • Only 1 prob w/ this amp. There is no headphone outlet. Unless you live in a house, this amp is not for you. Which is a damn shame because there is no better amp made by man.

  • Great playing by the way!

  • Casswell can make any amp sound awesome. Its cheating really!

  • vox or marshall

  • @PuffSmelly I love Vox

  • everything sounds great if michael palys it!

  • Great great playing.

  • I have one of these. It's really a great sounding amp. You can get all kind of sounds from it except maybe high gain (but I suppose you can still use pedals to get it). It also loves to be recorded. Just put an SM57 like you see on this video and you get a decent result.

And don't forget that "30" in it's name not only shows it's power, but also it's weight! Damn it's heavy! :-)))

  • Lovin the way you give those subtle slide effects with your tremolo bar! Ive got one of these at home, great tone, recently fell back in love with its heavier drive, very gritty blues to be had! Were there any external pedals on this video? OD, Comp?

  • great demo! love it!

  • I want that amp sooooooo bad, but it costs sooooo much :(

  • That Valley Arts guitar looks great!!!

  • i love your accent, and the amp of course

  • @funkyjones The early AC30CC's used cheap GZ34 rectifiers which failed a lot, part of the problem was Vox instructions to allow the valves to warm up and then switch the standby switch on, this causes a massive surge through the GZ34 and eventually they fail prematurely, the solution is ignore the standby switch, the rectifier (GZ34) warms up slower than the rest of the valves and allows the ht to rise slowly. When you do this the reliability problems disappear.

  • would it be loud enough for gigs??

  • so ya its 900$ dollars

  • how much ?

  • here's a good buyers guide from me in two words. DONT BOTHER.

  • @ibanezguitars44. He is demonstrating dynamics you dumb ass.

  • @1ocd he pays an ibanez. he may not know what dynamics are ;)

  • @1ocd lol i'm not dumb. i know how volume knobs work. i just thought his wording was funny.

  • "you can hear it getting quieter and quieter just by moving the volume on the guitar." lololololololololololol

  • @ibanezguitars44 I had a MG10...a "Small Marshall Practice Amp" Bullshit...sounds like shit compared to five watt Fender...anyways, the damn might have just an ON/OFF switch because when you had it in the clean channel and turned the volume up, it clipped and when you turned the "Overdrive" channel it had only two volumes: LOUD and MUTE...and it clipped. Funny thing...not all amps go quiet when you turn down the volume neither clean up when you roll back on the guitar's gain. Duh...

  • Great intro playing!!! great hendrix style!

  • L.T. DAN.

  • vox are the best

  • great reviewer, and beautiful player!

  • What would you recommend for a folk/rock styled band?

Orange tiny terror or Vox ac30?

  • The way a guitar sounds depends on the guitar used

  • jesus christ, the reverb sounds sooo fucking good on this amp!!

  • @superiorjam it's an 1989 valley arts custom pro.

  • what guitar? lookss swweeett :D

  • I'm curious - how does it go with pedals to push the gain even higher? Like Stoner Rock/ Heavy Blues styles (Clutch maybe?) I love its vintage tones! But am curious to see if the pedals will push it and still sound great!

  • I played one in the states (before discontinuation) that came w/ a neodymium Celestion that was like Fender clean tone, extended bass and treble. This one seems to have the middiness of the celestion VC30-ish speaker, or maybe it's the mic. Not that there's anything WRONG with that. Nice Jeff Beck moves, BTW... great demo!

  • They just discontinued the model to replace it with the new VOX AC Custom models.

    Just a update.

  • AC30 rules! Check out my clips with an AC30 and a Keeley Java Boost...

  • @spicbuddha I checked your clips...you can really push a heavy sound on that amp! Sounds awesome...

  • @ozzvaldito thanks! its the treble booster making it go crazy.

  • Any thoughts on running a Vox AC30 for cleans and an Orange AD30 for crunch?

  • Michael uses vintage Valley Arts guitars. This orange one is an 89.

  • you should do more reviews, yours are the best i have ever seen, and i've seen A LOT!

  • What kinda guitar are you playing?

  • No prob Matt. We are sure our Michael must get it all the time!

  • man, you are awesome, you actually reply to comments!! thx alot

  • @higgsfenderu2. You have spelt your " 2nd favourite guitarist of all time " name wrong. His name is spelt Casswell.

  • @licklibrary - Hi, I was typing quickly, I thought I pressed "S" twice, but it was just a typing error. Happens all the time.

    Matt.

  • It sounds a bit like Prince at the start. Mike Caswell is my 2nd favourite guitarist of all time!!!

    Matt.

  • where are the videos of dolphins?

  • "You can hear it getting quieter and quieter, just by moving the volume on your guitar".

    Now, THAT, is incredible.

  • @doogdoogdoog LOL, Yeah what an Einstein here!, Wasnt he from Spinal Tap? "This one goes to eleven"

  • Wow, i just love how he uses his wammy... but is that some sort of special wammybar?=

  • @Carl8888 looks like a floyd rose tremelo. handy piece of equipment

  • what is the chord progression at the first song? or which song is it?

  • This is Michael's favorite guitar. Valley arts custom built for him. Mike has beautiful strat's and a couple kickass gibby's and this one does everything he need's it too in one instrument.

I watched a lick library video on his gear, Boy he knows how to play them all like they should be let me tell ya.

  • specifically το 0.45 - 0.47 sec.

how can i have this sound?

  • i want to make the sound of the video.please tell me the setttings.

    thanks you

  • are those emgs?

  • Hi Michael,

Could you please tell me your settings for the introduction to this videe.!!

It so growley, but also clean.

    It's a very nice sound.

    Thanks,

    Matt.

  • Michael Casswells guitar is a 1989 valley arts custom pro.....!

  • can somebody tell me what guitar he's playing??

  • Michael Casswell. Awesome guitarist!

  • Anyone know where I can find one of these amps? I've been watching GC's used inventory and haven't seen any cc1's show up. Any suggestions?

  • One went on eBay last week. Hard to find the 1x12 version.

  • @oregonfan03 I saw it in google for 680 with free UK delivery

  • Omg he's a stereotype.

  • I bought an AC30 handwired and yes it's made in China. But buying a chinese made vox in the UK would seem depressing to me... just my 2 cents.

  • Comment removed

  • His name is Michael Casswell. I agree he is an awesome teacher.

  • I know his name :D

  • Whoops! My Bad... lol. He's a great teacher!!

  • Yes, he is. You can contact him on his forum. He always answers back ;)

  • I know. LOL

  • Your videos are so useful and tastefully done. Thanks for sharing these. I've subscribed, and look forward to watching them all.

  • You're a great player! Excellent demo.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

  • nice guitar what is it?

  • Very nice sound & song at the start, well done!!! Matt.

  • is it foot switchable

  • yes

  • is there room for a 15" speaker in the cabinet?

  • I think one of the most over looked things to consider is how clean can you get out of the amp. With a great clean you can add the few, or many, effects in front or behind the amp to achieve many tones out there. Now keep in mind, that's not the only thing to a very good amp but it allows you to play clean to dirty. I look for many great features in an amp but I usually start with how sweet is the clean, then I can work in many directions from there. Even a beginner can start with a nice class A

  • HI Michael, I really like your playing style. Is there anyway you could show us how you play the opening music to this video? Or perhaps provide a tab/chord chart (big ask I know). I really like this tune and would love to learn how to play it.

    Cheers,

    Afoustic

  • Tuned in D#

    Chords are :

    Gm , A, E.

  • Yes its a tube amp. Tubes aren't cheap to replace but they should last years, anyway. Its one of the things to consider...but players who love the tube amp tone don't give a damn...But if it worries you maybe the best bet is a hybrid amp like the VT series...

  • @dolphinmusicvideos Is it mike caswell who replies to comments down here? or is it some other guy? Just i'd like to ask mike some things lol

  • @dolphinmusicvideos do you guys know if mike teaces privatelty, i am looking for a new tracher, mines gone of on tour!!!

  • is this a tube amp because ive heard that the tubes are extremely expensive to replace

  • If price/ size is not an issue, then AC30 all the way...

  • Oh, I'm fully aware that I won't be playing any metal on those amps (without any pedals and/or mods that would totally kill the tone). I just want to play things that require good tone, like Cream and Led Zeppelin, that kind of stuff.

  • If you're into hard rock and stuff like Iron Maiden, either amps may disappoint you, versatile as they are. Orange Tiny Terror would be better...

  • @dolphinmusicvideos even if you used an overdrive infront of it? :o

  • I'm going to upgrade my amp from my Marshall MG *gag*, and after almost a year, I've discovered that Vox makes some pretty decent sounding amps. However, I'm kind of stuck between a Vox AC30 CC1/CC2 and a Fender Blues Junior. I play stuff that goes from Stevie Ray Vaughan to George Thorogood to Iron Maiden, but I want something that handles bluesy rock/classic rock/hard rock tones pretty well .What do you suggest?

  • the tone at the beginning is amazing

  • woooooooooow what a amazing guitar player !!!!

  • I got one of these and its great - best amp i have ever owned and i have owned every triple channel this that and the other going over the years. I gig it regular drag it to rehersals, practice at home you name it. It works well with both HBs and SC pickups. Its everything the guy says it is and so much more

  • How is this one for a little more "metal sound"?

Cuz I am looking for a new amp and I have no idea witch one thats good for me.

I got a Gibson Flying V, playing like metal or very clean. ^^

  • I would say it doesnt do very heavy metal on its own. It does Brian May no problems, even better with a good treble booster. It will work great with the Humbuckers in the Flying V. For metal set the amp clean and use a good quality pedal, I use a subdecay blackstar or a blackstar HT Duel

  • Thanks, I will check out those pedals next time I walk in to a music store!

But, if it doesn't bother you to much I have one more question.

I am looking för a new tube amp for like "metal" or what ever you want to call it, but like i said before, I have no idea witch one I'll buy.

Any tip or something? And it would be great if the price doesn't get over about $2000.

    Thanks!

  • you shouldn't be looking for metal sounds in the emp, just buy some pedal like the boss metal zone and your set with which ever amp your using.

  • excellent information. very well presented.

  • i like this guys reviews, and the song at the start was really sweet, was he just improvising?

  • He kept talking about how good it would sound by adding some type of pedel to it.

    I wish he would have.

  • what's the difference between the ac30cc and the ac30cc2? is the cc2 not made in the UK? and isnt there just a regular ac30?

  • cc2 = 2x12" ;-)

  • This guy is a friend of mine. Great player and a fantastic knowledge of all things guitar.

The guitar he is using is a 1989 valley arts custom pro made especially for him by mike maguire at the original factory which burnt down in 1992.

From what i gather, the originals are far better than the ones that are made now.Not to say the new ones are bad, just the original ones are better.

The pickups in this one are emgs. The best pickups bar none.

  • Is this a charvel guitar he is playing?

  • wat guitar is he using

  • a valley arts guitar, they are owned by gibson, google them

  • I've got one, they are great!

  • @amandajh Yeah? Loud enough for gigs? What about reliability? I've read some reviews stating they can crap out easily. Do you gig with yours?

  • i want one!

  • I NEED one!

  • Great reviewer

  • This guy is superb at demo's.

    Thankyou Dolphinmusic.

  • the best is to think the amp sounds exactly like that "live"

even better . i feels plenty of dynamics and loud ... loud of rich tone ...

  • Did you play in Brian's May band?

    What guitar are you using?
