Instead of short term stop gap measures, why doesn't the all intelligent government build water purification plants that can serve entire regions, that way the money we hand out in foreign aid can go to other things than fighting the diseases that would no longer be prevalent, and the people would be healthy enough to could grow their own food instead of others sending in tons of it to them?

Yeah, I still amazed by this. And they cost like $25. $25 for a family of five to have clean water for three years. Even if it's not this particular device, there is no reason we can't afford to give every human being clean and safe drinking water..
