I myself am a liberal, but I think his mistake is a very common one, not in what he actually said, but taking the vowel sound of the following word and applying it early. I have done that more times that I can remember. The brain does do that, especially when speaking fast. He was probably on his way to saying 'Kunior'. Now, to flat out call the guy racist is unfair. Who knows.
