Her voice is okay but it lacks the power of an opera diva. She shouldn't even sing a song like this since she really can't do it justice. Listen to Anna Moffo or Maria Callas sing this. They blow Rebecca Caine out of the water and make her performance seem collegiate.
ahahaha she is my favourite Christine but she sure makes some funny expressions around those notes. No matter; in singing its all how you sound, not what you look like.
just read some of the comments below....looks like someone already corrected the announcers honest and minimal mistake..regarding the female lead in magic flute..I guess with all the horrific things going on presently, such things are about as important as a tiny blemish on a mosquitos ass.
The heroine from the Magic Flute .....is Pamina....Not Panima...so much for pre production research...perhaps it was spelled incorrectly on your cue cards. All I can say, is that the producers of this canadian show were darn lucky to have had this extraordinarily talented artist grace their studio.
Few singers create so many opportunities in a single lifetime, to share their unique gifts with such a varied audience. BRAVA!
Listen sweetie, her physical appearance has nothing to do with it, how many studs have overweight male opera singers portrayed.. geesh. Anyhow your childish comments are ridiculous. Rebecca Caine has appeared in countless opera's including La Boheme & have you seen her phenomenal performance in Alban Berg's "Lulu" as the title character where she won rave reviews BTW? Probably not. Your ludicrous comments just shows what a childish & ignorant little boy you are Russell.
"The Magic Flute"..? Ye gods..!! This is Puccini's "Musetta's Waltz", you pig-ignorant American morons..!! How the hell did some uneducated idiot get be an overpaid TV producer..??
They just got the caption wrong. Caine was performing in The Magic Flute at the time but she was performing a song from La Boheme. The host inroduces the right song, they just screwed up on the caption.
Um...the announcer said and I quote "has just recently taken on the role of ...uh I'm probably going to say this incorrectly Panima (she did say Pamina wrong) in Mozarts the Magic Flute, and she's here today to preform Musetta from La Boheme. Please welcome internationally acclaimed Canadian Soprano Rebecca Caine" so you are the uneducated idiot who obviously doesn't know how to listen.
What a gorgeous voice. I saw Caine perform Christine in Toronto & I also saw her in the lead with the Canadian Opera Company in LULU & she was fantastic. The opera was broadcast on a classical radio station which I taped & although I seemed to have misplaced one of the tapes, I listen to the remaining ones constantly. Her voice is gorgeous & she is a fantastic actress as well. Thanks for posting this.
why does it say "The Magic Flute"??? This piece isn't from that Opera. Geez. Anyway, beautiful voice... she sings effortlessly, producing notes like butter.

kaduflyer: The caption "The Magic Flute" is the show she was performing (promoting in the interview) in the city at that time.

I am so glad that she has ventured into opera. She was my most favorite Christine because her voice was effortless.
