i had my acl surgery yesterday and i cnt fully exstend my knee with out it hurting and i cnt do eny off my exercises is ther enything i can put under my leg to help me bend my knee with out puting strean on my back or my arms when im bending the knee with a towel on me heel
I had surgery 2 weeks ago, I had a total rupture of my ACL and cartilage damage. Im struggling with the stretches, the vertical leg lift especially. It feels like my knee cap is going to break everytime I try it. Has anyone any advice or is this normal?
@DannyUCD Well i've been there, i haven't done surgery my rupture was nearly total, but i still believe i'll need surgery, docs won't do it cause i'm still growing but lets cut to the chase, insecurity is something that i've felt, it's gradually going to decrease, but don't push your luck doing too many exercises i still feel insecurity sometimes, and get like mini-replicas of the acl injury like my knee cap pops out of place sometimes. But anyway good luck get well :)
Hi, I had ACL and miniscus repair before 18 days but using the HAMSTRIG method so the time is longer to regain flexability and strength. Now I am at 50 degrees.
Can u tell me what exarcises I should do in the gym after 45 days pass after the surgery ?
I did my ACL reconstruction surgery 2 weeks ago, presently getting 95degrees ROM. Is it normal to feel pain in knee after exercising? Is it too early to do all the exercises displayed in this video?
@teewhy069 Are you using the CMP machine? I've had the CPM for 2 weeks and it was painful but worthy it.
My PT told me you cant do enought stretching to break up all the scar tissues,so i did a lot and got 140 ROM pure quick. I Did some some of those exercises without major pain,it helped me a lot cuz when i started the Physiotherapy. Good lucky ..
@teewhy069 yea its definitely normal to feel pain after excercising. just remember ice ice ice. and these are pretty simple so do what you can but dont rush or hurt it more cause most of the healing it'll do on its own. i had surgery last january and did these alot and now im playing football again
I've got a full flexion (140 degrees) today with almost a month after acl surgery. Honestly it was very painful but worthy all the pain i've had. My knee don't feel so tight anymore.I cant wait to hear my Dr. telling me tomorrow that i don't need wear the brace anymore !!
@ClaraGomesFutebol If you haven´t hurt your knees you should be fine with doing a good leg workout with knee extensions and curls at thee gym. The problem with being post op ACL rehabbing is that you can´t do that. Before i tore my ACL I could do leg extensions with the full weight magasine in the gym machine and i can hardly do 5 lbs atm.
Im also a year after surgery. I had problems with my muscles too, to fix it I have been for a gym about 3-4 times a week, and each time I was exercising for ar least 2 hours. I keep exercise. But u must have a good trainer. At the beggining I was trying to build my muscle at my own, but after about a month I realized that this is not good idea. I have a luck because in my city there is a very good rehab guy.
so i had acl knee surgery a yr ago.. Ive gotten my rage of motion back, only problem im have now is i have severe leg atrophy. My left thigh is noticeably smaller then my right (from not walking on it) its beginning to get warm outside and im embarrassed of the way my leg looks, especially in short or dresses. with my busy schedule i go to physical therapy once a week, and i do exercises at home. Has anyone been in a similar situation? wat more can i do?
@awilkers1 I would try find a good rehad professional,to help you build up the muscle back on your thigh. My also had a knee surgery over a year a go and her thigh was smaller. I just had a surgery last week and my thigh is smaller than the other,i used to be a professional soccer player and my leg was very strong before the surgery, even with a tore ACL and meniscus i was able to work out, I know how you feel. Try find a good rehab professional.good lucky ..
I've an ACL & Meniscus repaired today april 22th. My Doctor used a cadaver graft,he told me it was the best choice for my case. I'mm feeling well so far, experiencing sore but didnt think I neeeded take any pain killer i guess it's a good indication. I'm kind worry cuz he needed to removed about 50% of medial meniscus.does anymore have been on the same situation? I am worry about arthritis problems on the future. Any one have experienced arthritis after parcial removed the meniscus?
A really great video. I had surgery a month ago. After giving my leg the proper rest that it needed, I slowly started doing this program. It helped me out an awful lot. Thanks for posting.
can i do the same thing for acl and meniscus surgery, i jus had surgery on my acl and meniscus,im 19 and i wanna get in shape so i can go to the marines,
wat can i do that will help me be able to bend my leg :P
I just had ACL Double bundle surgery...knee looks and feels like hell but its been 10 days and i've gotten 90 degrees ROM these excersises really helped thanks:D
Thanks a lot for the info. I have ACL & Meniscus reconstruction surgery in 3 weeks. This will be my routine Increased 10 fold before & after surgery plus R.I.C.E. & Ankle weights..I'll keep you posted on progress...Thank You Again!
The best set of exercises I have found in the net. They helped me a great deal in the first stage of rehab. 7 weeks after surgery my upper leg muscles are almost the same size as from a presurgery time and knee flex range is 0-150 degrees. Maybe try to put some exercises for the second stage rehab. I am sure that would help a lot of people.
@marloy666 ..i need ur help pls contact me at sachin_mehla@in.com pls contact me.....i have gained 90 degree in first 2 weeks aftr recnstruction nd nw its getting harder to take it upto 130 degree......pls help me out der
i got surgery for my ACL n Meniscus messed it up while playing soccer! i left my knee brace cause i wud get tired of it i still get pain on my knee cause i cant bend it that well. im going to try this out to see if it helps cause i havent got my authorization for my therapy.
This is great i need to some excercizes my knee keeps giving way been like it for 3 mounths but its not helping sitting around in pain. so I need strength it up (only thing you can do really). Before and after the operation. Thanks Boss this has shown me the way. If you wondering skateboard stoke-on-trent hand rail on my birthday got it on footage.
Many thanks for putting this on here! It's been three years since my last surgery, (one on each knee for ACL tears). My range of motion is still not good and currently, I have one very weak knee but the other is just fine. I'll try these and see if it helps. Any other tips for this long after an operation?

Range Of Motion is VERY important to recovery from An ACL.

So is it safe to say that after an acl injury, quad activation should be the focus in rehabbing acl injuries?
Rclinnov 1 year ago
@Rclinnov The top muscle right above your knee is what needs to be strengthened. That is what helps you straighten your knee
