  • It was recorded in1965 with real snapping fingers! Willie Ramirez

  • These guys are from the Dyckman project, upper Manhattan. I interviewed them for an article I wrote about acapella back in the early '80s.

  • @RaananVolesPianist

Ummm, I'm not sure you got an interview with them in the early 80's and if you did there was a member missing. My father, William Ramirez?

Because he's been in Texas since '75. Maybe you got the dates mixed up?

  • @BrittPaige567

    Dear Britt Paige

You're right--it was the early '80s, but it was only one Chessman, not the whole group.--RG

  • @RaananVolesPianist What was the name of that chessmen member?

  • @poprince

Don't remember his name, but he was one of the black guys in the group, and he still lived in the New York area--maybe even still in the Dyckman area, although I'm not sure. He may have been the lead singer--he told me that he's sung with all kinds of bands, but he kept going back to do-wop.

  • @RaananVolesPianist Hi! I am om one of those Chessmen! There were 3 guys out of the Dyckman Projects that were recruited into the original Chessmen before Lead singer Ralph Colarte!
