  • if i may, you should work on composition. for close-up shots and details i recommend EF100mm 2.8. cheers.

  • @snafuz13

thank's buddy for your comment, I own macro ef 100mm f 2.8 L lens and efs 60mm macro lens, both doing a good job for close up, in this video just about what we can do with ef 50mm f1.4...

  • Nice shots. The f1.4 really does the trick. I just did a clip on 5D Mark II filmmaking all about the 50mm f1.4. Cheers.

  • rule of thirds

  • nice exposures

  • Great pictures there buddy ! =)

  • doesnt look like you're putting that 1.4 to work. my 85f1.8 creates a lot more out of focus objects and bokeh

  • @homiej212 you're right buddy, but 1.4 doesn't mean you have to wide open at all your pictures, with this lens I mostly use F2.0, 2.8, 3.5 for a nice bokeh.

My 85mm F1.8 is creating a good bokeh too, I use it sometimes, that focal length best for potrait. thank's for the comment.

  • amazing! thanks so much <3

  • Ty for the video :)

  • wow aweseome sharpness ;), soon it'll be mine too =P

  • 430 EX with 50 1.8 ;)

  • Yeah... from what I know. An excessively diffused flash can affect a photo shot by a f/1.4. The aperture is just so big that it can catch the small "glow" that the flash made.

I guess I'll do what you said XD

  • can it be compensate by using ND filters?

  • What do you mean?

  • was talking bout the "glow". if i use nd filters, will it remove the "glows" that u mentioned in the previous post?

  • @meldrian I am not sure :D Ask flickr groups... they helped me buy my lens ;) Plus, most of them are professional/serious photographers.

PS I am not a professional photographer. I am just a hobbyist

  • ahh..okey..thanks fot the responds.. :D

  • Should I get this instead of a Flashgun (580EX II)?

I'm planning to get the 24-70mm f/2.8L USM but the huge aperture of this tempts me to add it to my small arsenal :D

  • It's depends if you use your camera like casual users, you don't need 580ex II, 430ex II is good enough. The 50mm 1.4 is the best lens you can't beat..

  • I know I won't use flash guns as much since some events don't allow flash photography(eg Masses, Dance shows and etc) but... I saw results from one flash with a diffuser and I was amazed at how it created "natural" looking light.

But... here is another problem.... the 50mm f/1.4 costs as much as the 580EX II. That 50mm is so tempting! It has USM!

  • Excellent quality, I too have 40d, but not enough money to buy the 50mm f1.4, I am amazed by the sharpness and the great depth of field, I will have to get the cheaper one ef 50mm, f1.8. Keep the Good Work.

  • what kind of camera are you using?

  • Canon EOS 40D, thank's...

  • Excellent!..it shows how great the 1.4 lens is!...you can't beat this lens!..my only critizism is that your transitions of 6 to 7 seconds were a bit too long. 3 seconds would be long enough for my taste of course. The 1.4 has great bokeh!. Keep up the great work!...

  • Thank you for your good comment & support, I appreciate it...

  • good...
