I play those games with DosBOX. DosBOX got a built-in recorder (you'll have to tweak the videos a bit though).

Redbook music is CD audio music. It means that instead of compressing the music into files, they used the audio tracks on the CD (giving better quality). You can put the CD in a normal CD stereo, skip Track 1 (which contains the game data) and listen to the game music. Many PC games of that time (and some PSX and Saturn games) used that method.

Try to set your computer cycles higher (Ctrl+F12).

It can also be your computer. DosBOX can take quite a lot of resources with some games.

And you can try making a CD image (if you're using the CD version) and mount it as your CD drive (with a certain command). I helps avoiding some glitches with the music.

This game is from 93'. 12 years before the Call of the Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Eearth if that is what you consider the "great game".

Anyways, it's no ripoff. They base some of the puzzles and the story by the Ctulhu Mythos, so you cant entitle it as a ripoff, probably more like an ongoing story in the Cthulhu universe :)

Carnby could also be a reference to John Carnby, a character from the short story "Return of the Sorcerer" by Clark Ashton Smith.

The walkthrough provided me only went as far as opening the door to the basement. I didn't remove the block, nor was it mentioned to. It didn't prove to be a problem, and I ended up finishing the game... Unless the ending I saw wasn't the ending you're heading towards?

I remember years ago, I glanced at the stretegy guide for this at BORDERS bookstore & as I was looking through it, I remember in the end, you get picked up by a car, you enter & the car drives off. Then the driver turns around & it turns out to be a skeleton, it then ends. Weird haha. I wonder if thats like one of the many endings if this game even has multiple endings.

I use the sword on this zombie. I've never fired a single shot in the game. I only use melee weapons. As for putting that pot down and the ash tray in the smoking room, those where some of the biggest pains in the butt I could ever imagen. And it gets on my nerves that you have to move the barrels or you won't be able to finnish the game.
