@Kiwifrank My biggest apologies Kiwifrank, I meant to hit the Thumbs Up and accidtently hit the Thumbs Down and I can't change it. I thought exactly the samething about the cut a away before reading your comment.
I liked it when they called people 'Mr' on the telly. Whatever happened to Nadu Ballentine-Scott? He seemed like the kind of young go-ahead sort of rebel we need on 'TV' today.
The Maui 1 oil find was dated 1969. Hon Tom Shand, Minister of Mines, died (while still in office, although after the election campaign of that year had begun) on 11 Dec 1969, so it was prior to that date.
He looks so young! I remember seeing him playing Dick Deadeye in the show HMS Pinafore in Dunedin in 2003...he was very good too!

Were all NZ news presenters all from England ? Can't detect a kiwi accent

@dee74raz I believe Dougal's a kiwi? It was the accent they used for the news back then

@dee74raz The pronunciation was soooo much better back then.

The 'cut-a-way' to Nadu Ballentine-Scott was remarkably modern for it's time. I can't recall many such instances occurring back then.

not too sure exatly what month, but this is all I know

couldn't be 1966. Dougal mentioned a sum of $200,000 and decimal currency came into effect in NZ in 1967. Am I right?

You are too, lol. I thought it was '66 when I looked it up somewhere but someone must have got the year slightly wrong (besides myself).
That's good spotting, tommyau2006.
Cheers! :)
