Clear-cuts are very destructive. They kill thousands of animals in the process. Just about everything in the zone. Every animal den, bird nest, amphibian, insect hive, etc.. even endangered species with "incidental take permits" that are issued frequently. Now the timber is then sold at half the competitive price, because there's more profit to sell an entire forest to China, then select wood to Americans. There's no "timber" union to protect jobs, paychecks, forests or communities.
@raginroadrunner That 11ft cedar is not likely to be 2000 years old. That tree is 800 years old max and plus it has passed its prime, should of been cut down 50 years ago anyhow
Personally i don't like red cedar and wast coast logging but it's not the loggers fault trees are coming down it's the consumers fault, like people with ridiculously big cottages and boathouses, the boathouses alone could be there cottage they have washrooms bedrooms kitchens living rooms, trust me i'v been in some. there boathouse and cottages are way too big and wasteful. these people are the big culprits and there the ones that put red ceder on there roofs, everyone blame them, not the loggers
Holy Fuck people! first out awesome job man very nice fall. But damn people are just so "oh your going to hell for cutting down trees blah blah fucking blah" you know what you guys are dumb first off. I used to cut before I joined the corps ( as for the youtube name my girlfriend made me the account as a joke) And she had to go. the roots were rippin up as she fell and she was in a bad spot. you guys dont understand that it was cut because a. was dying. b it creates more room for more trees.
@hyprvypr you kiss your mother with that mouth?? by the way what you live in was cut down by a logger. about hmm 85 or more percent of things that you need is cut by a logger. thank one.
@hyprvypr The only destruction is the narrow minded puss that eco freaks spread with their one sided special agendas. Loggers are a staple to the worlds economy.
i have nothing against loggers i know its your job to cut down trees but i dont think trees of this size should be destroyed just so some people can have some nice wood floors or some nice furniture i beleive that anything over 8ft in diameter should be left in peace because that trees been there for hundreds of years and who are we to destroy such an ancient thing (somebody will call me a hippie but i eat meat and go hunting too i just enjoy natures beauty and want to keep it that way)
@rocky2694 yeah but you gotta understand that it was cut cause she was dying and so itll create more room for other trees to grow. but im glad your not like some other people on here.
way to go thats a big tree you can tell he knows hes going to hell after he cuts it down the way his body language is . looks like he feels bad or somthing but you still need skill to do it.
They should be protecting our old growth and keep cutting the 3rd and 4th and so on growth trees we only have so many of the old growth forrest as fast as they r cutting them down we will only have like 10 15 more years of them then your screwed wont be able to enojoy them for much longer there already destroying the rain forest so i guess enjoy whats left of wat ur destroying because onces its gone you wont get it back just think of it as your kid getting killed
@Chicagoman36 it was roten did u not see the stump bust in half as it fell...and the only reason logging compenys take out old growth is if there roten or a danger tree...would u rather take a couple old growths out or lose a whole rigging crew.. think before u
Nice job man!!! Seen a few comments on here and if they looked up the tree when she felled,,you can tell it was almost dead,,hell,,,the root ball was tryin to come with it,,,so it wouldnt lasted that much longer....Some people dont realize,,tress are like us,,they dont last forever and why let em rot in the woods...Fall em,,make something from them while the wood is still solid, and make room for the young trees to grow...Good vid Bro...Thanks for postin it....
good vid wish i knew where that was. anyway i was working in forestry long ago but enviros shut our loggers an us down (anyone remember 93-94 mass arrrest M&B kennedy lake div).in the vid seen where that tree went down it may have shattered but think the faller had no other choice.
please ignore the vegetarians who proclaim to be Christians.everybody knows the story of loaves and fishes and water to wine stuff. good vid and nice cabinet timber there :)
ur a moron these trees are for lumber production not ass wipe. marijuana fiber products are the strongest and fastest growing of all fiber materials and can be used in more ways than any agricultural product on the planet! trees are not an argiculture product either there a profitable product that is easisly accesable to human mechanism. go read a book or something maybee putting a bullet in ur head would be easier i'm not sure, but i do know ur a fuckin idiot!
This is horror to me ! That is somewhat of a sacred tree. Cutting it means u have no connection to this Earth whatsoever. "6271560" you need to find this connection. a lot of people around the world are (re)discovering it at a fast pace. that tree u just cut is a living thing, you just killed someone. Plus, if these ideas don't say anything to you, I know you can make a very precious oil out of cedar nuts, like 500$ / litre... maybe that would be a better business than cutting.
Well, when you cut entire forrests, they don't grow back and you destroy entire ecosistems, reducing or drying rivers, which in turn affects other areas which will lack water and can even become desert area.
just what the fuck does that mean hippie. by the way i am in touch with the earth. i hunt and fish and eat almost every animal on this world. you can eat your grass and danndilions and i will eat meat.
Puke show me one spot that isnt replanted or will be by law in the USA. Its law within three yrs of a harvest. You have been reading too many left wing papers.
"rediscovering it"? what? People of the past saw trees as something to be used. We have more respect for trees now (we meaning those who cut and use them) than almost anyone in history. We take care of them, replace them, admire them, create beauty from them, etc. people of the past cut em down and burned them up throughout recorded history, without any concern as to whether or not there would even be any in the future
as I recall most of the guys logging liked husquvarna as they vibrated less than the stihls and were lighter.. In the sawmill the stihls were used, as most of the guys using them there didnt use them every day. That is the stihl could be dropped [by accident] and you just collected what came off it and put it back on and started it up again. A tough saw for sure...
Actually, it looks to me like the stump was releasing tension that the tree had on it. The stump sat back into the ground when the tree's weight was released.
it makes u feel good cuz ur doing a big job thats how, maybe you just dont know how to appreciate little things in life however i do, an yes thanks for the comment bud, i did replay it an watched the base of the stump wanna pull with it, AWESOME video

That is quite true, if you want to end up with all the trees on little farms around the country and a quarter the size they are now.
The acreage increases, but the size of the tree, the quality of the wood, and the biodiversity of the habitat all go down.
TheSlimViper 2 years ago
Here's some FACTS people working in the forestry industry can use to counter the idiotic green heads and nature nazies:
FACT, due to the forest industry's reforestation efforts, America achieves a NET 1,000,000 (one million) acre GAIN of forest growth every year.
Thank you forestry industry, you are the true conservators of the forest.
