  • Do you have to get one warm, one cool?

  • k thanks thing i need to get one more 24" grow light from walmart and thanks hope it goes good for u this year and you should make a updated vidoe. if mine turns out i might make one and upload it.

  • i got the same thing and am trying to grow hobs peppers how many light u got i got one 24" grow from walmart should i get one more light and i got a heat pad cuzs i no the hobs love heat

  • @savageman691 I have upgraded to three lights now, I'm using a much larger tray now and needed more light.

  • We are currently growing our plants in our basement. Thank you for some good ideas

  • @bigdotof Thanks, I wish I had a basement.

  • Nice. Thanks.

  • just a little info walmart has a 24" grow lite for about $10. comes with the bulb too. nice video thanks

  • @rwally3able good info, thanks

  • Nice!

  • jason0930 knws nothing!!

  • cfls' work great too, i found some as big as 55 watt (250 watt incandescent equivalent) 2700K spectrum, that fit a standard socket. they are about 13 dollars. ive had success with them, the proof is on my channel

  • where'd you get it? same place? Target? For the fixture and the growlight

  • I think you inspierd me to do something similar.

  • Genius, I will use this system thanks for the Video.

  • I've done this before. This does not provide enough light. The plants will most likely become leggy and fall over. Be sure to start that you put the seeds you planted about 3 inches from the lights. Then raise the light a little after the first true leaves appear on the plant. Good luck.

  • I have been wanting to grow greens inside and I was just thinking this would be great for growing wheat grass (for juicing) or any greens indoors and in order to CAT proof it I could just use some screen and attach it to the side poles -- thanks for the idea you have inspired me !!!!!! (now I just hope my great dane doesn't whomp it with his tail!!)

  • I wish I saw this video last year.. I could have saved some money. Oh well. thanks for doing this video. I was thinking about adding another grow light but wasn't sure where to put it! You're shelving system will work perfect for me! I can put my current growlight system on the top part and have the 2nd shelf for the 2nd grow light. :-) thank you!

  • @gardenvespers777 I added 2 more grow lights last year because I wanted to use a full sized flat to

start 70 seeds. It worked out perfect. Next month I will start this years pepper seedlings. This shelf is great, you can easily move the top shelf up or down as your seedlings grow. I start it out right on top of the seeds then just inch it up as the seedlings grow.

  • work with weed?

  • @aarongallop doubt it, works fine for starting pepper seedlings though.

  • @tdjtx no it will if u put heat lamp in it though i grow medical marijuana same set up i have but mines a lil different

  • @aarongallop weed is a very aggresive plant... you need HPS for that.. as saiod though this is fine for vegetables and stuff

  • @andrewbobbin works fine for my pepper plants, I'm on my third year now.

  • @andrewbobbin no i mean just to start them off.

  • @andrewbobbin Weed is a ... well ... guess what, it's a WEED. It grows with a stupid TL-light. I grow it with nothing in summer and TL-lights in winter. Big harvest, nice taste. Where I live it is not illegal.

  • with i could find that stuff where I live..

  • Nice Job. Do you think this system would be enough light for potted herb garden? Like two or three pots with with 2-3 herbs in each pot. Any idea?? Thanks.

  • @ilvblues It seems to work well for starting seeds, not sure about an herb garden. I would just put them in the window. You could certainly start the herbs with this.

  • @tdjtx ya but some herbs you can't just have out in the open for now. . . .

  • i know they will be more $ but way less then LED which i bought mostly because of the claims they made in lower watts, spectrum & temp contribution. i started wiith two 300 watt panels and by 40 days lost 1/4 of the leds in both. but that got me looking for alternatives. i learned about INDAGRO from a grower who'd been using them. watch the youtube video then visit the website. you can also get ALOT more general indcution info from ELSMFG.COM under the educational resources tabs.

  • Good idea on the stands. FYI we did our last two grows using induction grow lights. The 100 watt fixtures have been amazing. The plants are doing amazing for a fraction of the power. Try one and you'll see for yourself. ck them out on inda-gro website and look at the user submitted photos. We use indagro as our primary grow lights now with 4 of the 100 watt and 2 of the of 400 watt. No heat and from germ to bud with very decent yields

  • @annahasier I don't understand why more people haven't heard of induction lamps they are sooo much better for the plant then the low wattage led crap and the shop lights that I see people trying to grow with. My babies love them and the yields goot becaust the light gets like 3 ft inside the top leaves.

  • @bvccooper Well, I'm new at using grow lights. I just went to Lowe's and asked them for inexpensive grow lights. First I went to a "head shop" and the ones they had were in the $700 range. I just want to get a jump on the spring growing season for my peppers. Do you have any more info on the induction lamps?

  • I bought a grow light, and the plants seemed so small and weak. What could be wrong? He seems to be putting only a grow light. Or it was that I tried hidroponics and grow light at the same time and it was too much ?

  • were did you get that planter at!!! for 4 bucks?

  • @ThisIsKingBalls Lowes, I ended up getting a larger one and adding 2 more lights. I grew 70 pepper plants this year.

  • Don't grow canabis whit this system..

  • @Koppurointi I don't, I've used it for starting pepper seed for the last two seasons. The peppers did great.

  • That looks decent for the price!! here in the UK you would have to pay alot more, we only have cheap Chinese junk here our industry is no more! :(

  • You could have got more than 8 TIMES the light for the same price if you had purchased the following:

First, what you need is two 4 foot shop lights that hold 2 bulbs each (10 bux each), a mix of 2 warm white 3,000 TO 3,500 K and two cool to full specturm 5,000k to 6,500 k bulbs, all bulbs should be 40 watt. (total cost 12 bux)

The way flourescent lights work is the longer the bulb, the more light per watt of energy. (two 2' bulbs don't give off as much light as one 4' bulb.)

  • isnt it simple to build all off it self? and cheap to

  • I hope you know that the bulb you got isn't meant for growing, it's for plants and aquariums meaning you can use it to light up your plants and it makes them look good, and or to light up your aquarium, it is not good for growing. It is far too weak...You need a Cool White and a Warm White fluorescent bulb to vegetate.

  • I realized that one bulb wasn't enough so I added two more. I've used this setup two seasons now and the pepper seedlings came out fine both times.

  • @tdjtx

For a little more clarification on reppins statement. The colour temperature is important. Your light looks a little 'warm' or 'soft' white, contains more red spectrum light, 2700k which is good for flowering. For solid greenery you want a 'cool' white in the range of 5000k to 6700k which is a closer aproximation of sunlight. For starting seeds, you probably cant go wrong with a couple daylight CFLs, more is better it seems as well.

  • they're great for clones also *wink*

  • As was stated the light needs to be much closer to the seedlings. I would mount it about 1-2" above the seeds personally but I think you already know that. ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • Better for plants on a budget would be Daylight F20 GE which are cheaper, higher lumens and 6500k. If you want to spend a little more the T5 are actually the best way to go for greater output and power consumption efficiency.

  • is the light u used a uv light?

  • It's a GE Fluorescent Plant Aquarium/Terrarium Tube Light Bulb

  • Sorry, I ended up buying another light for this and it was the GE. This video shows the first one I bought, which was the Phillips.

  • where did you get the light fixture and light?

  • I picked both up at Lowe's, I think Home Depot carries them as well.

  • @tdjtx thank you.....whats the brand of the light fixture?

  • It's GE

  • Light should be hanging on two chains and hooks, it s too far above, causes stretching of seedlings. You can lower/raise the light on the chains as seedlings grow. Keep light as close as you can to seedlings, 1 inch, doesn t burn them, except reddish tubes I believe.

  • @menkeechang I ended up adding another light fixture and moving the shelves closer. The pepper plants I started here turned out well. Once I planted them outside they grew like crazy and produced a lot of wonderful peppers.

  • @tdjtx

Exactly the kind of shelves I m looking for they let the light through amd I can hang more fluos vertically on the outside for larger plants

  • wow that musta been some ghost on the floor there

  • pretty cool as long as the plants are not too heavy being that that rack dont look very sturdy

  • The rack is pretty sturdy, I used this to start pepper seeds inside. They were very light.

  • at 15sec in look at the bottom of the boxes wtf fuck is that

  • It looks like some pixelation in the video, I never noticed it before.

  • @cmf71

    Shit camera/compression.

  • @Urindunk yea, it was an older Flip camcorder, I've since gotten a Kodak Zi6, it's a lot better but still doesn't do well in low light.

  • @cmf71 Call Scully and Mulda. XD

It is a conversion error. XD

  • Really good idea! Thank you!

  • youll also need a fan or two

  • Really good idea. I didn't know it could be that inexpensive. I thought the lights were much, much more expensive. Right now I have all my plant starts in a spare bedroom in front of double windows until I can get them into the garden.

  • well you said cali in general

  • this product is not intended for illigal uses

  • yea it is

  • weed is legal in cali.

  • no...its not

  • it is for me. medical license.
