@Soldier296 Staff, proud to have you here and thank you for your service and my salute to you. Keep your head down and protect those that look to you for what you are, a Leader. Love that armor, especially as a grunt who humped 80+ pounds every day. Although I realize metal is a magnet and you know what I mean. Thanks for your kind remarks and respect. Wolfie
@steelerbradd Pretty good, but I am into trying to get a new business started and puttin in lots of hours. Its all exciting, but a lot of hours. Hope all is well. I am going to be very depressed if no football this year. Wolfie
Hey, great video. I am a Marine with 8 years in, and I can completely understand your sentiments to this warrior. In Vietnam, you were all warriors, and you did so thanklessly. Well, I for one thank you, and I know you were Army, but I will say it anyway Sempre Fi Warrior!
@steelerbradd Semper Fi to you too. It is an honor from a Marine. You have my thanks for serving your country and being the best, a Marine! Semper Fi one more time. Wolfie
@WolfieRed1 Thanks for saying all of that, it means a lot coming from someone like you. Hey Wolfie, My father in law was in vietnam for 19 months. I know it is a long shot, but his name is Tom Schissler, her was with the 41st brigade, Comm unit. He is quite possibly the best American I have ever met, and you share those same fantastic qualities: Love of God, Country, and Comrads be them alive or passed. I think it is fantastic that you are looking up your comrads. You got a friend here!
@WolfieRed1 Thanks for saying all of that, it means a lot coming from someone like you. Hey Wolfie, My father in law was in vietnam for 19 months. @steelerbradd You could have said it 3 times? I appreciate the first and second post, each read for me was good. Sorry I did not or do not remember Tom Schissler, he might have served in a different location than I. There were 400,000 there then, but please thank him for his service and your statement of respect. I am at a loss to express your kind thoughts to me. Just Thanks, and you got a friend here too. Now given I am a Jaguar and you are a Steeler, well? :-)
@WolfieRed1 Hey Wolfie, it is my pleasure man. We need to constantly keep our Soldiers/Marines/Sailors/and Airmen in our thoughts, and no just when it is trendy. My flag has been flying in front of my house since I became a man. Saying a simple thank you to a soldier or buy him a cup of coffee goes a long way. Now, we are going to have to get you to come over to the Black and Gold Wolfie. The Jaguars always seem to have the Steelers number, and I hate that. Freedom doesn't come free!
@steelerbradd Guys and Gals like you can post the same thing 10 times, except for the Steeler stuff. :-) I am Teal, but the Jags need to get it going again. I was pulling for them in the Superbowl though. Thanks for posting and all the nice things. If I didn't say it before, used to do business with a Pittsburgh company, they had a box and my company had a box. I always went to the Steelers games in Pitt. They came down here. Great times.
@WolfieRed1 Wolfie, I am telling you, I always dreaded playing the Jags, always. They just simply had our number, plain and simple. Twice we were knocked out of the playoffs by the jags, ouch still hurts. It is nice having this dialogue with someone who really loves their team like I love mine. I am still in denial and upset about the way the Super Bowl went. I wish I could be man enough to say good for the Packers, but I am not LOL. I want all of the rings haha. Your turn.
@steelerbradd The Steelers were the best opponent the Jags ever had, great rivalry. I understand your comments about the Superbowl, but remember the Steelers were in the game and 30 teams were not. A real fan like you is all about your team and winning. You bet you want the ring and I am jealous and respect the Steeler fans and tradition. Maybe one day we will have that here in Jax. Back to you Bro. Wolfie
@WolfieRed1 Wolfie, you will have that ring someday, I am sure of it. It really takes the owners/management staying commited to one coach and setting up a winning atmosphere. I ended up telling my father in law about what you are doing, trying to find your friends. I swear, the man started to tear up and talking about his friends from back there. He said that he would like to do the same thing, so you have inspired a lot of people like me and my Father in law.
@steelerbradd When I think of guys we lost, I become a whimp and cry like a baby. I held it in for years and it is my honor to find heroes who stayed under the radar and reach out. They are my heroes and you are my hero for understanding and getting it. It has been very difficult for me to talk about those we lost, but when a family or friend want to know more or find closure I am there. Your friend, Wolfie. By the way go Jags, Steelers respectfully suck! :-)
@WolfieRed1 LOL, you are a banana Wolfie. LOL, the Steelers respectfully suck LOL. Vietnam Vets have all of my love and respect because no one gave you guys the glory that you deserved. You guys didn't get the glory that WW1 and WW2 men received and that just isn't right, seriously. Having been in the Corps so many years, I know that the choice isn't your own. When Uncle Sam rings the bell, you must go, like it or not, agree with it or not. Vietnam was a particularly rough war on our U.S.
@steelerbradd Back to you Bro, if a banana it would have to be Teal and Black, not Gold and Black. Thanks again, enjoyed our back and forth and especially your thoughts. Wolfie
@WolfieRed1 Hey Wolfie, yea I enjoy it also. What is your take on politics these days? Curious what a war vet would think of our current situation as a country. In the 30's we went through the depression and my Mom has told me a lot about that time and how hard things were. Seems like right after the depression, our country fought in WW2 and then prospered. Do you think we will prosper after this God Foresaken war is over? Prediction for your Teal and Black, superbowl win by 2020.
@steelerbradd Honestly, I expect the Steelers to win before the Teal. Not my desire, just reality. After WWII we were the strongest economy on the planet with growth. Our industrial machine was going like crazy, now we make very little. We sell & buy everything from China and elsewhere. We imported 15% of our oil then, now we import 75% and getting worse everyday due to no new drilling. We will look like England in 20 years, just another nation hoping China will throw us a bone. Wolfie
@WolfieRed1 Assumption correct! Of course I didn't mean the Jags LOL. What were you issued when you were in Vietnam? M1? I always tease my Father in law and tell him that he is so old they probably issued him a musket. Have you made it to the wall in D.C. yet? I went there a few times when I was stationed at Quantico. If not, I am sure you would enjoy it and probably will break your heart a bit as you read the names of your fallen Comrads, may those warriors rest in peace.
@steelerbradd Been to the wall a couple of times, each very emotional. Went last year with 150 last year for my Unit reunion. We all wore the same shirts and hats. We got a standing ovation by the tourists. I have many friends on the wall, they are holding a cold beer for me. I just tell them to pull me up. I got a 16, then a 203 which are still being used today in the mini versions. What do you mean you didn't mean the Jags? Are you coming over to the Teal side? Just kidding? Wolfie
@WolfieRed1 No, not coming over to the Jags, never. So the M203 Golf I think it was called. Had a very small calibur granade launcher attached right? The M60 is what was issued to me, I guess cause I am a big guy. I also trained with M16, all range quals are with the m16 in the Marine Corps. Good, glad to hear you made it to the wall a few times, really drives home a point when you see all those names in front of you, it becomes more than just a number.
@steelerbradd Been buried in a marketing project. The guy that got the wall erected, John Wheeler was killed a month or so ago, it was in the news. I knew him, he was supposed to go with us when my reunion unit went to the wall last year. His death is a real mystery.
@WolfieRed1 Where you at Wolfie? Waiting for your comment. Told my wife about you and she thinks I ought to make one of these videos for my father in law, and see if we can find some of his buddies from Vietnam.
@steelerbradd By the way, I love this song, but you know what song I always think of when I am thinking about America; the song "fighting side of me" by old Merle Hag. Revisit that song and tell me how you feel. Makes me wanna stand up and do something for the better of this country that I LOVE. Come back at me.
Just read "Steel my Soldiers Hearts". Was a good read. Again Very much respect to you and your serving brothers, Thanks for the history and the service.
I would like to honor Corporal John Harrison of the British Armed Forces Parachute Regiment who gave his life freeing Stephen Farrell, a reporter with the New York Times in a daring pre-dawn operation on Wednesday. Corporal Harrison demonstrated courage and professionalism in the highest traditions of the British Military. As an American Combat Veteran we Americans have lost a Brother and extend our gratitude, prayers and tears to his family and friends. I salute you Corporal John Harrison.
WolfieRed1: I have so much repect for you and what you had to do. Your dedication was was the nicest thing. I'm in my 30s but, studied the vietnam war for my history exams back in the day. It was only then by looking into it myself I came to understand how you men were real men. On top of it all it's good to see you made it back to the world.
What a lovely thing to do for someone you are searching for,a very moving tribute. I really do hope you find Sgt. Lintl,,.im sure you will. Good Luck!
Teri, glad to see the Lintl family did find gramps on YouTube. I have very fine memories of your dad, grandad, or great grandad? I hope he has a great sense of humor and views this will a smile. Please give him my best and hope you and your family have a great holiday season. Wolfie
Kerri, your dad is a great man. He saved my butt many times. When a bunch of 18, 19 and 20 year olds needed a leader your dad was there. Some of us thought he was a hard ass, but we were simple minded then and he is one of the reasons I came home. Thanks for posting and tell Sgt Lintl there is a drink waiting for him in Florida. :-) WolfieRed1
