  • 21 People are from Russia lol

  • the a cool jet i wound mind flyin one of them when i become a pilot

  • I agree with most of the people here. VTOL is great and this jet is perfect for it but the Harrier is good enough and VTOL is used for short little takeoff places AKA areas where most jet AREN'T. Plus, this thing costs enough they would probably build a whole runway just for it lol. God damn I love this jet though, I hope I get to fly one.

  • I personally think we should cancel the F-35B model and focus on the A and C models. B is Overpriced smaller internal bomb bay with less range. when have we used the full capabilities of VSTOL? Even if you do a total vertical takeoff you can't go far or carry much and better hope theres a tanker close by.The USMC and the RN RAF should focus on A and C models for the RN & USMC. Do tou really think where gonna risk basing a $117 mil jet so close to the battlefield?

  • Since when has vertical take-off been used for more than demonstration and air shows?

  • Royal Navy needs STOVL planes because their carriers are too small for normal takeoffs

  • soooo, if this is going out to lots of people around the world, that must mean that we have something much much better out there still in the works or just very top secret. UFO's probably....

  • We do, it's called the F-22, and we don't sell that to anyone, not even Britain

  • Wow it would suck is you landed with the afterburner still on(verticaly).

  • not to worry F-35 has more technology in one wing than SU 27 has in the whole plain uuhhmm plane... russian tech is about the same all the way around since the fall of USSR.. even their navy is falling apart!!!

  • us aussies are buying them now, but theres a lot of contreversy whether they would stand a chance against indonesias sukhoi 27's. do think a F35 could take down an Su 27 in a dogfight.

well anyway i heard the F35 are excellent strike aircraft

  • They are less maneuverable than the Russian aircraft, but their Distributed Aperture System (DAS) may allow them to prevail in a close-in engagement anyway. Look up "f-35 das" on youtube to see an informative video (Sukhois get blown up hehehe).

  • i no, bloody government should of kept F-111s just refurbished them with better equipment and we still would of kept air-superiority with JSF

  • i heard that we were getting f-18's.

we need something quick because of the Indonesian's and there SU-27's.

    mini arms race?

  • I saw that video too. Those men dont know didly squat of what the hell they are talking about. 96 percent of dogfights happen beyond visual range. That is were the f-35 excels no jet nowadays would EVER allow a plane closer to it then 50 miles. The f-35 has a detection range and lock range of 200miles plus. Also its EADS system which gives it a huge advantage over any fighter you should look up the eads system on youtube.

  • As far as anything Russian is concerned "Don't believe the hype".

  • is it actualy fighting now?

  • Its in testing, I think their due for service in the US in 2012.

  • 2010, when it is in service.

  • i love america

  • loads of countries use them LOL

  • Lets be onest now, the harrier is supposed to be a great jet, to be honest i thinks its the worstt fucking investment on this earth. lets get down to the basics, it can only lad vertically because of the amount of water it uses, its fucked if it takes off vertically. It can't excess the speed of sound whereas these days the jets can go twice as fast, therefore this jet is fucked if engaging any dog fight.

  • This video isn't about the harrier

  • You're about 30 years out of date, mate. Sure, supersonic performance is nice for pursuit, but on a carrier you simply can't beat even a lightly armed aircraft that can take off immediately (without a catapult, no less!). VTO is rarely used (usually STO) but it's a fantastic ace-in-the-hole.

  • The US is awsome!!

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • Well theese new engines could be alot more relilable than the older engines from the previous generation of fighters. Plus according to DND,Canada will only be buying 65 next gen fighter aircraft!!!! Thats really stupid, Austrailia is buying 100 even though they have a 11 million less population than Canada!!! We should be buying around 140 to 150 A varients and if Canada ever decided to get a few amphibious assault ships like the new Cambera class from Austrailia we could even buy a couple

  • do you know what you can rely on?, that a bird ends up in one of those engines. lets say a goose will hit the fan.

  • It was a major factor when we were looking onto the F18éF16 competition. The pilots did not feal safe over the northern area in a single engine aircraft. F14 was also briefly considered not sure if F15 ever came up. as big a fan as I am of american aircraft I think the Typhoon would be a better choice for canada. Unless by some fluke of life we can get F22`s.

  • We might be buying 100, thats to replace our F-18 and F-111. But they are not doing well in testing. At a simulated encounter between F-35 and Sukhoi, in Hawaii, they were described as being "clubbed like a baby seal". Another officer said "can't turn, can't climb and can't run". Our Airforce are not happy with their performance, and suggesting cancelling the order. theres a 15% chance of Eurofighters or super etenards. The ships hull & engines are from Spain or Portugal, we only fit them out.

  • The main reason we do not have a need for a large fighter fleet is because of Canada's role in NATO. Our NATO role is primarily a anti-submarine role and the we use our fighters primarily for homeland defense. Therefore we do not need the large fleet like the Americans have.

  • Don't know why canada buy this aircraft for 2012-2015, i mean we have the second largest country and we had so many bad experience before with 1x engines (after a engine failure) many canadian pilot died because we used 1x engine, and now we buy for 2012-2015 a single engine again?

  • how can you be sure the problem lies within single or double engine?

  • one bird-one engine=dead. two engines-one bird= a chance.

  • What is the radar range of the f-35.

  • All the numbers and specs have been updated on Wikipedia for the F35. There has been huge fights over the F35 and F22

  • cf 18 is better then the f16 but thats what i think tho becasue i am from canada

  • the CF 18 is better, yes but the new F 35 will be the best if Canada Buys these new f 35s around 2018... I hope Canada buys some because the F 35 IS Awesome!!!

The F-35 will be second only to the mighty F-22.

  • canadian pilots will have an issue with the single engine configuration. it was one of main reasons we went with the F18 over the F16. having to do with engine failure over northern teritories. With all the talk of selling the F22 to austrailia hopefully we invest in that also if there is a policy change. wouldn't mind if we even got the next generation of F18 Rhino's coming out. boeing seems to think it will be quite impresive.

  • why is the f35 so awesome?. it is so very slow that a limp cammel can outrun it.

  • A limp camel goes faster than 1200MPH?

  • Canada is supposed to buy New aircraft at the end of 2011-2012.They are supose to buy F-35

  • Why we sell our technology to other countries continues to baffle me. Hopefully our DOD has installed instant off switches in case anyone decides to go hostile ;)

  • its about a hundred million cheaper than an f22

  • very, very true

    F-22 = 150 Million

    F-35 = 80-70 Million

  • F/A-22 is for 142 million now ;) maybe cuz the gas price went up and nobody is buying them anymore lolz

  • f35 is offered to us for about 100mill usd per plane.

  • The British developed that engine.

  • Actually it was co-developed between GE and BAE.

  • nice f-35 rulez

  • I think the point with the hover thing is to minimize the A/Cs stacking area & in case we have rocky land we need to land on or to take off from the hover thing would be the best

  • what can this plane do that the f22 raptor cant?... (besides the vertical takeoff)

  • What can the f15 do that the f16 cant its the same thought the f35 is made do be multirole and is cheaper

  • If you factor in the cost, the question is what can 10 F35s do which one F22 can't?

  • Take off on a aircraft carrier with ease...

Not to mention reliability, also for any country other then america the cost of getting them repaired would outweigh the cost of even having them.

  • yes. disadvantage: the f-22 would own it in combat. f-22 would own anything in the skies now in combat.

  • i watched an F22 at an airshow take off in less than 300 feet, and then fly at less than 30 mph, which it could easily land doing.

  • really impressive to me.

  • Why does it need short take off if it can take off vertically?

  • I don't understand what the point is with that hover thing, they can't lift up verticaly and then start flying from that position because they would fall down, so whats the point???

  • they wouldnt start to fall, the thrust would be directed between the ground and horizontal, so it would start of going up and once it gets to a certain altitude it would gain speed until it has enough speed to get lift. it really is amazing, look at videos of the harrier, how it does it.

  • Bow Down!!!

  • Top speed was rated on one site as > Mach 1.8 but the speed, maneuvorability and the range would most likely vary depending on how each of the 3 type F-35s are setup.

  • Mach 1.05 doesn't sound that impressive. What's the top speed on this one?

  • actually it's impressive considering it's a vtol stealth aircraft

  • idiot thats pretty good for a vtol

  • @Parthamasiris Mach 1.6.

  • can the f35 realy do what it does in live free or die hard thought?

  • I'm pretty sure it can.

  • Yes it can actually do all the things that you see it doing in live free or die hard. This is an amazing bird and will continue to amaze everyone as it comes out.

  • no but it can hover very well

  • woo amazing !!!

  • oooh, so bloody useful..!

  • The british recently found out that the F-35 won't work with their carriers, they're too short. Oops.

  • Trails on runways proved otherwise, not only able to take off but carry twice the load of a Harrier. Not to mention they are building 2 new aircraft carriers.

  • Bugger!! We'll have to get some planks of wood to make up the rest. After all the US carriers in WW2 used thick planks, so, is that okay, or dose it have a patiant on it? just kiddin!!

  • we have two new ones under construction tyvm. they are about 3/4 the size of the american supercarriers

  • F-35 hahah Turkish Jet ;)

  • Same engine as the F-22, just a single engine.

  • o gr8 40 years till another vstol aircraft

  • harrier needs a retirement home in the phillipines, we need on now!!!!

as long as it is an AV-8B. with 2 chain guns couple to the pilots helmet ala apache chain gun.

need to kill off the abu sayaff and the commies.

  • yess im glad turkey took part in this

  • its called thrust vectoring.

  • daaam, this is so advanced. Check out how the engine folds down in the back. Unbelievable.

  • thats only one of 3 models, ment for (USA wise) the marines, the other 2 for the navy and airforce dont gots that

  • hahaha.. thats where i work, and that guys my previous commanding officer! ^^

  • bright future for the f35
