Joe South's original version is still the best. Because the lyrics make the most sense when sung by a man to a woman (I could promse you things like big diamond rings..)
But Martina does the song justice - sticking pretty close to the Lynn Anderson arrangement.

@gippygoo Negative! Martina does a great job, but nothing touches the version everybody knows -- the one that was #1 in 16 countries around the world -- the Lynn Anderson version.
