Listen to that.....Al just swings, Mike keeps the groove on the one,as ALWAYS,solid & steady & Eddie taking you back to 1984 in 1993, playing as "HOT" as ever. Even if Sam did sing more Mach 1music,let's face it, many of you (you know who you are) wouldn't have liked nor appreciated it. Just like Gary Cherone, he sang ALL 3 ERAS, & ALL BUT 500,000 gave a damn !!

I'll tell you why, Sam's catelogue is decidely synth Pop. The Roth Era catelogue is stellar hard rock. I don't care who can hit high notes or not, its about the songs.

@Pat9201 chaaa right you obviously never listen to a whole lot of DLR's solo work ...with dave's work the synth was buried down in the mix only with the couple songs he did with keyboards like just like paradise..with van halen mostly there was more keyboards than guitar

@motleycrue24 actually i never really listen to dave roths solo stuff much,wasnt for me.as for van hagar (i believe thats what you ment?) there were far more songs without keys than there were with.3 on 5150,3 on ou812,1 on F.U.C.K. and 1 on balance.i was into van hagar but usually liked the songs that didnt get radio air time then the "hits".

Sammy sang the following songs from the DRL era: Jump; Unchained; Ain't Talkin''Bout Love; Running with the Devil; Panama; You Reall Got Me... How many songs from the sammy era did DLR sing in 2007/2008? Big fat ZERO. I wonder why.

@marica1604 Don't forget. . . they even did " Somebody get me a Doctor " in 04 and " Sunday Afternoon in the Park " in 92. Roth is good. But Sammy knows his audience. Better singer too.

Dave doesn't sing those song because 1.) His EGO (nor he,himself) won't let him. He has to face the cold hard fact that VH went on successfully without him & he doesn't want to. 2.) If they did perform some Mach 2 stuff. Roth's voice'll be shot by the 2nd chorus of whatever song. Ed wrote that music in higher keys (Ed said flat out in the Oct.,1986 issue of Guitar World "Roth's limited range-wise & vocally.". Remember also that it was a struggle to record "Me Wise Magic" in '96.(cont.)

It was very difficult to record that song "cause Roth couldn't sing that bridge part ("Reach up to the feet of God lookin' for a sign, It was right here all the time..." & "Don't you lie, just listen through me. My words at best to you, a fortune c-c-cookie" ) or the chorus. Ed wrote the tune, Roth didn't like it, but Ed didn't have anything that worked out of 20 songs,so Roth went along with the tune Ed had in the 1st place. 3.) Ed & Al knows Roth can't pull it off

I was just answering a question that you answered from @marcia1604 that SHE asked. Why are you so sore? My information is fact. I've read EVERY SINGLE INTERVIEW & ARTICLE WORD FOR WORD for the last 30 yrs. on this group. Any credible publication this band ever talked to for it's entire career. Look some of it up. I don't believe a word unless it comes from the VH Bros. (on radio, T.V. ,etc.). It's not an opinion. My info has been repeated time after time by ED for years. LOOK IT UP !
