as far as i know lol you are not supposed to sing your commands and you arent supposed to have your solute up while addressing your inspector its after you report in your solute and go from there.
@UmadonYT You better watch what you're saying missy because I am a proud, enlisted US Army serviceman. My apologies if my language offended you. I just get frustrated with high school kids sometimes.
@UmadonYT Well then I apologize for calling you missy. I do understand that Marines say "sir or ma'am" during their basic training. For the Army, Air Force, and generally the Navy, its different. We reserve sir or ma'am for officers. Back in the day when I called my drill sergeant a "sir" in basic I got my ass chewed and then smoked. I realize its different for the Marines but I just... I just can't stand hearing an enlisted being called "sir or ma'am". Its really irritating. You understand?
@TrueInnovator159 Hey, just thought I'd clear it up for you. the whole point of it is that the recruits..or cadets, in this case, aren't marines yet...so they dont "rate" to call them by their ranks. When they become Marines thats when they call them by their ranks..trust me..I once called a sgt a sir..got my damn ass chewed for it. it's just until they become Marines
@WeAretheWalrii Right, I'm sure. Officially, according to AF36-2618 the AF Enlisted Force Structure policy, NCO's are supposed to be addressed either as "Sergeant" or by official rank (Tech Sergeant), up to E-8, then E-9's are addressed as either "Chief" or "Chief Master Sergeant." Unfortunately, it is VERY common for enlisted personnel to address each other as "Sir" or "Ma'am" which is wrong because they ARE NOT OFFICERS. Sorry to bust your balls but you're wrong.
@TrueInnovator159 Sorry to be one to bust YOUR bubble, but according to JROTC / Cadet Corps regulations, cadets are to address active/retired/reserve/national guard enlisted personnel as "Sir/Ma'am" during an inspection and while reporting into and off of a drill pad during any ceremony or competition. Want to know my source? I was a Marine Corps Cadet in the Gulfport High School MCJROTC program as well as the Unarmed Regulation Commander for our Drill Team.
@TheSoco1980 And before you test that, make sure you look how many times Gulfport High School's MCJROTC Drill TeamS (and yes, that's a capital S for both our male and female drill TEAMS) have been awarded 1st Place in NATIONAL Drill Competitions. Semper Fi, SIR!
@TheSoco1980 Please read my post above where I said in 1 of my statements, "I realize its different for the Marines", which was where I talking about how the Marine Corps holds a different policy concerning the addressing of an Enlisted personnel as a Sir or Ma'am. So no you have not "busted my bubble" because I already made that point above how the Marines are a different story. Ceremonies & such are a different topic all together, I'm speaking in general during on duty.
@WeAretheWalrii Oh and I was 3 years Air Force ROTC before I switched over to the Army Enlisted Service because I wanted to earn my rank and gain experience rather than be called a "Butter Bar" and not having any prior military experience or service. I didn't want to disrespect the NCOs in my assigned unit that way also. Plus, NCOs don't need to go through as much shit as officers do. NCOs are the backbone of the army and they lead the way hooah.
@WeAretheWalrii No I didn't switch the subject, I made an additional note to the primary topic at hand so that you would understand where I was coming from & I provided additional information to further support my argument. Anyways, back on "topic", I've said what I've needed to say. If you truly are an Airman or a service member you would agree with me. The fact that you're not just further claims that you can't be but I can't know that for a fact without actually knowing you personally. Peace.
