So nice to hear this song, nice rendition. I heard Bill Staines sing this years ago in NY City,. Having spent 2 years in Wyoming it's nice to remember the beauty of the state.
@CadyFinlayson Thanks for your comments. I love the song too as I love so many of Bill's songs. My wife and I really enjoyed seeing him again in Oklahoma a few weeks ago. I have yet to visit Wyoming, but I hope to change that next year!
Great tune. Just moved to Wyoming after wanting to come here all my life. Never thought I would ever visit, much less live and work here. Life has a way of keeping you where it wants until it's own time. I have been blessed to get here before I take up the rockin chair.
I love Wyoming! I'd love to live there someday. I've spent some time there working with the oil and gas production and I loved every second, even the winters. I hope not too many peolple move there and it becomes too crowded like Utah did.
i moved from michigan to wyoming, i have never loved a place so much! im in florida now, the waters ok but how i long for the open spaces and the beautiful mountains, i miss my wyoming home sooooo much!
This is a great tune and well performed too. As a born Westerner I will never understand why, as a youth, I thought that I had to go east for my education and then entrapment there for a lifetime. What was I thinking? If you are from the prairie nothing else will ever really be home. 5 STARS!
Touching song. I am from Newfoundland Canada but I can relate to this. I'm going again to hear Bill Staines at Godfrey Daniels in Pennsylvania again this year (2010) How did you get permission to use his song? Interested. Good song, nice voice, good guitar and harmonica with coyote howling in the pic! Good job! Thanks~Mike at (mike underscore madigan at y a h o o dot c o m)
i wanna go back home.....i miss my old house....my old city.....the smell of the pine....the nay of the horses! the beautiful plains....the great feel of my horses mane! we had 2 live my horses back home! i had 2.......mayflower and tanya.....i luved them soooo much!
I left Wyoming for 12 years, and missed it so much that I have just recently moved back to Lander. This was my song, this is my State, there is no better place to be.
everyone in our side of the girls cabin cried for so long. i never thought that it would be possible to sleep that last night. i miss the tetons so much. i miss everybody there. its so beautiful there. PS ann is devil woman and if you ever go there in late april jenny lake is jenny ice.
I love this great state. It is so amazing living here. When I went to TSS the director sang this song for us on the last night. I cried for so long that night. The memories we all shared during that week will be with me forever and I'll never forget my friends! Thanks Mrs. Fuller's Class! Love you all!
My aunt, who recently passed away , grew up in Wyoming, and I sang this Bill Staines song for her as she lat on her death bed. She enjoyed the reminiscing...great pictures, Jed.
Our school group went to Grand Tetons National Park (one of the science schools) for a week. Truly a life-changing experience. The director fo the site played and sang this to us on our last night.

Born and raised in a tiny Wyoming town. The first time I left, I went to live in Japan. Talk about a change.

I heard the Chris LeDoux version that was really good, just like this guy. I am thinking of moving out there maybe near Big Horn after college.
