  • This is totally awesome...thanks for posting this!

  • This is so great. Thanks for posting. I love You Tube! We wouldn't see half of this stuff in the states without it.

  • Which album are they talking about? The swing?

  • Pretty sure they are talking about Shabboh Sabaah ;)

  • ehm... pardon me?

  • They are talking about Shabooh Shoobah. Remember, this interview dates back to 1982. The Swing didn't come out until 1984.

Donnie Sutherland (interviewer) handed me a box full of BETA tapes of his show out in the city and in the middle of traffic.

All the tapes had dates on them. This came straight from one of those tapes.

  • You spelled it right, now I found something in the net. Didn't know about that one. Cool, so there's more Inxs stuff to find...! Koool

  • Does Kirk ever brush his teeth i love the guy but fucking nasty brown been teeth

  • Probably nicotine stains. They were still poor back then. He's so cute with those glasses though. Still get's loads of women. He's the Stealth Bomber!!

  • @rydan2002 "get's loads of women" yeah great, because that's all that matters and everyone cares about that pffffff

  • Kirk Pengilly's face with those glasses are trademark man!!!

  • I love how Michael talks about" from track 1 on side 1 to the end track on side 2" ...I love that!! Thats how records where meant to be listened too!! Long live the vinyl...it was such an experience to bring a record home and listen to it!!! Those were the days!!!

  • I wasn't the biggest INXS fan during youth. But today, their music delivers the feelings of 'the days'. Love that. Now I can't stop listening to them. Nostalgia man!

  • The coolest thing about their songs, is that they sound as fresh now as then, and if you haven't heard "Welcome To Wherever You Are" and "Full Moon, Dirty Hearts," too. They were foolishly overlooked by a "Grunge" crazy public and music journalists. They've held up better than any grunge band except the only one that ever mattered anyway, Nirvana. And INXS was equal to that task, as well. They were a great band, underappreciated throughout. I wish I would have seen them live. They were great!!!

  • haha omg..Michael is so so..gorgeouss...and look so young and the minute 9:58-or 9:59..DURAN DURAN WITH GIRLS ON FILM!!!!!!!!

  • Fantastic. Lounge, beers & cigarettes. Can't get more Aussie than that hey. Priceless stuff, thanks Donnie. Further proof that TV stations should cease throwing out archival stuff.

  • No worries mate.

  • Ammmmmmaaaaazzzinnnggg!!!!

Thanks soooooo much for posting it!!!

    This is PRICELESS!!!

    Miss you Michael!

  • Thanks so much. What a gem. How wonderful to see them interviewed so young! Love it! How could this fresh faced kid have transformed himself into the sexiest rock god on earth and one of the most talented!

  • Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou welovedonnie! Hutch forever....

  • The thanks should also go to Donnie Sutherland and Frank.

  • michael is so beautiful :) the most attractive man on earth

  • How cute, thank you, such a long interview too what a treasure!

  • thank you, welovedonnie for sharing this gem with us!

  • I love how fresh and relaxed they are and, a bit not ready for prime time. i love how Kirk watches Michael and visa versa. RIP MH

  • It was early days. I believe MTV would have just started playing 'The One Thing' video around this period.

  • WOW, they are so young, how in the world did you ever find this. It's very good and has been added to my favorites, thanks for sharing

  • I got this from Donnie Sutherland (the interviewer/show's host), himself.

It is one out of a collection of shows that had been sitting in an old box, unseen and unplayed, for well-over 25 years. The tape of this program wasn't labelled, so we had no idea about the featured content until we played it. We didn't even know it was an early interview with INXS.

  • Same fait happened while the ABC-TV worked on cleaning up their archive. A dusty old box with a reel-film was discovered in one of the store rooms. When played, a 1979 interview with a fresh-faced INXS had been unearthed.

  • how cool, what a great surprise!!

    is the ABC copy posted?

  • It's not up on youtube... I believe it was quickly taken and stored away in another place - probably digitally stored.
