I don't know why, sometimes singers cancells for example Corelli was indisposed for the glorious cast of '67 Gioconda broadcast and was replaced by Barry Morell.The following year, 1968 , the Gioconda broadcast was for Bergonzi.

It is a big pity Bing didn't give Bergonzi the sumptuous '60 Forza broadcast too.Tucker owned it (the performances were shared between Tucker, Bergonzi and Baum, Tebaldi sang all the performances included the broadcast) but Tucker was scheduled for the broadcast and not Bergonzi

on the other hand Corelli lost two studio opera recordings and Bergonzi won them.The '67 Gardelli Gioconda (Corelli was going to record it for Decca as a guest artist becasue of the major triumph both Tebaldi and Corelli had at the Met) but Bergonzi under contract with decca fought and won and Corelli was out of this unbeleivable opera recording

'69 Gardelli LaForza del destino recording it was going to be for Corelli, however Bergonzi fights again and wins.Today we don't have any Corelli Enzo and Don Alvaro studio version

@31122051 Ma io mi domando:se erano tutti cretini i critici che lo hanno osannato (Rodolfo Celletti sostiene che 'Un di felice' della sua traviata con Caballe' è il meglio esistente) e gli appassionati che lo hanno ammirato e amato.Se si cerca lo squillo che non è scritto hai voglia! Lui eseguiva quello che era scritto...e se 'vicino al suol' Verdi lo voleva PPP (pianissimo) così lo eseguiva.Cniudiamola qui e ognuno resti della sua opinione che è meglio.Bergonzi è un GRANDE questo che importa.
