  • I was there, with my new husband Mark. It was the only show he got to see with Jerry. The enormity of the crowd was an awesome sight. mona, remembering

  • You can stream the entire show at the Internet Archive

  • Love this version so many roads later!!

  • Historical

  • It ain't the years, it's the miles.

  • cant begin to explain how many lives you put inspiration into. youve givin soooo many people reason to keep on keepin on. thank you for the endless smiles youve givin me. thank you, for a real good time.

  • I miss you Jerry.

  • Can You Even Buy This?

  • @mkonjhg1

    nope.

  • @mkonjhg1

    not with money.

  • @ShuguProductions Thank You :(

  • @mkonjhg1

there may be a recording of it somewhere though, sorry if that was what you were asking...

  • The actual song that night isn`t,this .The first 2/3`s of the tune is correct, but Jerry muffed the vocals in the last verse. So they compiled another nights rendition on top of the mistake....there-by creating a flawless version that brings you to tears. It`s beautiful!..imissJG

  • LUVIN YOU JERRY

  • They edited the audio like mad on this song. I was there live and it was a rough version that night. We all miss you Jerry!

  • gives me chills and rips tears from my heart.. thanks for the ride jerry.. 15 years later & still haven't found the road...

  • Almost forgot :-( .........I'm sure Jerry understands though.....Right now I'm awaiting the birth of my 1st child (a girl) in 20 years :-) Her name will be Autumn Sundown Nichole (has a kind of hippie ring to it) ;-)

I wish she could go see Jerry with here daddy but, that will never be. Yet my little girl will know who Jerry was and how important and how much he meant to me and the rest of us. Peace be with you all.

    Rest In Peace Jerry...............

    JC Edwards

  • ok I have to jump in ...He to me was my mentor and friend..Got stoned a couple of times with him in the early 70s..we will grow old).

    peace

  • One of those Dead songs where Jerry's singing must have saved my life once or twice. Thank you Jerry for sharing so much of yourself with us. You were always such a channel for what so many of were feeling and you articulated it so well and were never afraid to put your pain and your fears on display for our own catharsis. You will be missed, but not as long as you will be loved.

  • I miss you Jerry!

  • I miss you Jerry!

  • seen the GD many times, missed this one. 15 years. See what the world has become without Jerry.......... HMMMMMMmmmm.

  • THIS SONG STOOD OUT FOR ME , 15 YEARS WOOOSH GLAD I WENT . BROKE MY FOOT JUMPING AH FENCE , STILL MANAGED TO HAVE AH GREAT TYME. MAY THE BEST YEARS OF THE DEAD LIVE ON IN ALL ARE HEARTS PEACE & CHICKEN GREASE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • ....15 years today.... where does the time go...

  • My weekend. ....fitting.

  • so very sad.....

  • Did this tour, went to this show. I lived in Chicago and needed some rest after the Indy riots, and the St. Louis barn. Weird last couple of shows. I still have the letter that the band wrote about Indy, and handed out at St. Louis. So many memories. So many stories.

  • great!

  • The Indiana colts guy should donate this guitar to the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • i know dude, that kinda pisses me off that Erwin just gave them up for auction

An instrument of that history should definitely be open to viewing from the fans of Jerry....

  • @prophetdude2 Well, the Dead could have bought the guitar and put it on display. It was Jerry's wish that Irwin would profit from the guitars.

  • @cablepanos well yeah, but Garcia just willed it to Erwin, i don't think Jerry would have wanted it just to go to some random dude....

  • @prophetdude2 They were Irwin's to do with what he wanted, that's what Jerry wanted or he wouldn't have willed them to him. The Dead tried to go against the will and keep them. If they really wanted to display them, they would have bidded. They didn't even show. Why be pissed at Irwin? Be pissed at the Dead for letting them go privately. They have the $850k. Irwin was injured in a car wreck, and he used the money to recover. What's the Dead's excuse?

  • @qrs11 Well, the Dead could have bought the guitar and put it on display. It was Jerry's wish that Irwin would profit from the guitars.

  • I couldn't agree more, simply amazing.

  • some of the sweetest shit the dude EVER played, he played in this song . . on his last night. the solo at 1:44 is supreme. no one ever played the guitar nicer than that.

  • beautiful and haunting - like he captured impermanence in a guitar solo

  • so many roads "that eased" my soul

  • I am so honored to have seen this performance. I am typing in tears. Listening to this just makes me such a ball of emotions...14 years later, still no place to go.

  • @admlostsailor ...Brother look around you...you're there :)

  • ((((Rosebud)))) Jerry played her and Tiger this show if you can believe it. Bolt was in the shop

  • I know I was on a month ago, but I had to come back and listen to this performance again. This song literally brings tears to my eyes.

  • Indescribable! This song brings tears to my eyes. Esp after seeing it played at the last show. We all had eery feelings when Jerry had trouble with Terrapin. Does anyone have that video? Search the last Terrapin without luck.

  • god, this just gets me every time... jerryyyy :(

  • What a beautiful way to end his life. An extremely brilliant artist, and an individual who could express his soul through improvisational music. Long Live Jerry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The negativity in this thread is consistent with what made the last few years of the tour really suck for everybody involved. I'm not gonna bother quoting Jerry or blabbing about how many shows I've been to, as if that in and by its self has any real relevance or importance... Seems it's something just stated usually to just self aggrandize. In any case, posi up people!!! listen to the music and let love flow. That or just stop bitchin! hahhahhahaaa

  • I was 16. It was my first and last Dead show. Don't remember much....but the memory of how I felt, the lights, the screen when this was played is BURNED into my memory.....I didn't know what but....something told me even then...that something IMPORTANT was HAPPENING .14 years ago today. After learning/teaching hundreds of Jerry licks(thanks tapers) I know what it was....the swan song of a beautiful , powerful human and musician....RIP...glad I could catch you if only once...

  • this is really really hard to watch..makes me cry..god..jerry...

  • man he already looks dead rip jjg

  • hello hello are you there? could someone anyone please ease my sole and post a version, any version of "days between?" I would be ever so grateful my friends, i miss you family.

  • so sad but best ever version- the rest of the show sucked but this song... I swear to God it was like Jerry's LAST ..... I don't know... energy being PUSHED through his dying body. It was like his good bye to the world. Fitting the show started with Touch and ended with Box of Rain. Go figure. BTW- BMR... during the first verse, listen closely; he CLEARLY says "*LAST* MUDDY RIVER"- SPOOKY!! RIP Jer-Bear- I miss you; I can't listen to this version too often; makes me so sad... so very sad..

  • @deadheadlooser I literal almost teared up watching it and thinking it. To say we miss him is a great understatement. No one in history deserves to be brought back from the dead than Jerry ... no one.

  • @deadheadlooser im Sorry But He Says Black

  • @deadheadlooser RIP Jerry-I miss you too. This version just rips my heart out, but Jerry put everything he had left into this song and his soul is eased. It should have been [his] encore

  • Gosh, I love that guy.

  • why the idiotic license plates and maps? The music stands for itself. Leave your remarks out of it. All you did was trivialize something noteworthy.

  • I'm pretty sure this is the video as it was on the screens at the concert...

  • The graphics of the license plates and the road were indeed playing in the background as he sang this. I saw them use this particular graphic video a few times in 1995.

  • so many roads, so many autos, so many licence plates, get it moron.

  • I dont know who you are presuming to talk to, but I am no a moron. And, I wasnt talking to you.

  • I was replying to slatterntwo. He was saying how stupid the license plate graphics were. I thought he need it explained in rational terms. I surely was not trying to piss off a hippiebuddah(not kidding)

  • Dang, sorry. My deepest appologies. Actually I am kind of a moron, but man, I thought you were suggesting I was a Bon Jovi! lol

  • Fuck off, maybe bon jovi is more your style.

  • I was speaking to

slatterntwo. I was not speaking my fellow true deadheads. His comment just stuck a nerve.

  • :o(

  • I was at that show and it was awful, Jerry was in terrible shape. Somehow he was able to snap out of it for this one last amazing moment. I'm not sure I've ever heard Jerry put so much emotion into a song.

  • have you ever heard the version on the record "so many roads" . . it's incredible . . it's edited out of this version to perfection. he was going for something here . . no doubt . . he even went back and repeated the flubbed verse. regardless of wether he knew it or not, this is definitely one of his most profound performances.

  • that lick he plays at 2:13 is just crazy. gorgeous

  • "What's your road, man? - holyboy road, madman road, rainbow road, guppy road, any road. It's an anywhere road for anybody anyhow. Where body how?"

    — Jack Kerouac

  • that guitar is "rosebud" not "tiger" folks!!!

  • the person that owns jerrys guitar tiger is the owner of the indianapolis colts.

  • brings a tear to my eye

  • so sad =(

    RIP Jerry

  • this song is a killer....thank you so much, what a memory and an appropriate song for Jerry to end on....

  • thank you for posting. Love it. My parents were major grateful dead fans since I can remember, I've grown up with the music that they made. absolutely amazing.

  • as a chicago native, im so glad i seen all the soldier field shows, esp. this one. those were the days...chicago all strewn with tents...man, seems like another world ago...I miss it so much.

  • Still brings a tear to my eye. Thanx for the memories Jerry.

So many roads to ease my soul ...

  • Whoops, so many roads and SOTM, two jems from the late years

    RIP Jerry

  • "somewhere in San Franciso on a back porch in July, just looking up at heaven at this cresent in the sky"

this song has been aging on me like a fine wine

  • 95?...someone?

  • I was at this show with Traffic and the Dead. Slept in the back seat of a 73 Bonnevile Convertible for 2 days! lol Good Times! Miss them alot.

  • I wish I had a couple extra millions, I'd of snatched up that beautiful sounding guitar of his.

  • where is that guitar now?

  • im with you on that headies. very emotional every time i hear this version i start to water up. its almost as if he knew it was the last time

  • Thank u for posting very touching video

Im not gunna lie it made me cry

  • Hope it's nice wherever he is

He made a lot of people very happy for a very long time

About as much as one could ever hope for in life

  • I was there that day. Jerry was tired but he pulled it off. Great fireworks.

  • one of the very best version of this song..Jerry's good-bye...RIP

  • call me a whinin boy if you will
