  • Ooh does this bring back memories. I loved him when I was young and still now that I am 78 yrs. old. so handsome and a beautiful voice. Don;t sing songs like this any more.

  • I love the video, Dennis Morgan has a lovely voice.

  • Dear louisa, Not sure. A Warners stock player, I guess. Glad you like the song though. Best, bchfront

  • Wow what a voice :O

  • Thank you for posting. You can't know what this means to me. I wish my mother were here to hear this. What a lovely song! How she loved him!

  • @TheRosaLee23

I have Three Cheers for the Irish, but he does not sing in it.

  • @peteranders48 I also have Three Cheers for the Irish. You You Darlin is background music in that movie, if you listen clearly. My mother was mistaken however when she told me he sang this song in that movie, obviously it was Tear Gas Squad. He was her favorite, and she brought me up with his movies too. What a cutie, I must agree with her. They simply don't make stars like this anymore. What an endearing lovely sentimental song.

  • nmow you knkow why dennis day never made it in the movies.

  • I love this piece of film with my favourite singer Dennis Morgan. Who by the way is not Irish! He came from Swedish descent. It was Hollywoods idea that Irish was the accepted thing. Is this film available to purchase? Love this song.Liz

  • Just to set the record straight, as Dennis Morgan has always been my favourite movie star plus singer....he comes from Swedish descent and not what is commonly believed Irish. Are there any films of him for sale? I would dearly love "My Wild Irish Rose" but especially "The Desert Song" which he made in!(1942) and was released in 1943

  • Tis a grand post I can play this over and over

Thanks, from Earl ,in Huntington Beach Ca.

  • I was under the impression this song was by Harry M. Woods.

  • Thanks for this information. It seems a little strange - in a way - that he was hyped as an Irish tenor. I wonder if the movie moguls thought it sounded more popular? Who knows. :-)

    -Paula

  • Dennis Morgan was one of the handsomest actors who ever lived. His beautiful voice is such a treat and I am so glad he sang in just about all of his movies. Being Irish myself I do appreciate an Irishman such as he was and he makes any song very special. I have seen this movie, too, and love it. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • LIZ!

What a joy it was, and a genuine pleasure to receive your lovely note the other day! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond -- I got very emotional when I read it! My God, the history that you and I share! Do you live out-here on the West Coast? As far as reaching me goes, I guess if I leave my email address with the "moderator" of this film clip, (peteranders48) he can then pass it along. I'll be writing Sybil Jason later today, telling her I heard from you. Thanks again, Liz. Best, Rick

  • On behalf of my grandfather, and his longtime partner, I thank you for the kind words. It's very gratifying to find so many of his compositions here on Youtube, and to see how much pleasure they're still giving people, decades later! Oddly, "Tear Gas Squad" is one of his I missed -- looks like fun, though,so for the moment I'll take your word. I heard the song again this morning, and haven't been able to shake it!(P.S.:The ASCAP-registered title is "You, You Darlin'")Thanks again. R.J.

  • RJ...this is amazing. I'm Jack Scholl's daughter! (I was a late-in-life child) I knew Moe and Rae, but never met Stuart, who was considerably older than I. I have long wished to find his relatives, as I have memorabilia to share...and because it would be fun! Is there a way we can contact each other directly? Liz

  • Thanks for posting this. The lovely melody was composed by my grandfather, M.K. Jerome, and the lyric, which is slightly different (the bridge goes: 'When I see the sweetness of you, I'm lost in a spell...") is by Jack Scholl. Among the assembled-listeners are Mary Gordon, Gloria Dickson and the awesomely-handsome John Payne (who looks none-too-amused!) Apparently someone remembered this, because it was recently used in "Divne Secrets of Ya Ya Sisterhood"! R.J.

  • I do have the complete film and think that it is very entertaining. It even has Superman in it.

The song is a lovely composition.

  • @bchfront Pretty song; I'd never heard it before. Who is that sitting on the couch with Mary Gordon? He is handsome, too!
