Never MPKed any RMTs, though back when mining was worthwhile they kept well clear of me in Gusgen, as I would stalk them if they helped themselves to the points I was using. Got one jailed for spamming 'stop following me' in shout.

Anyway it's fun to standby and watch them go to town. If the person actually runs away, and isn't a bot I tend to help. But otherwise it's just fun to watch. ^_^
I usually hit the mob one time, then let my wyvern hit it, then super jump the mob. When I do this my wyvern has hate on the mob, allowing me to safely Log Off next to the said 'player'.
I also sometimes /37BST, which enables me to charm a mob (like a sea monk) move it to desired position, and use Leave, which lets the mob free with no aggro. Then it aggro's anyone in the level range it normally would, but this usually only works on the boat because the mobs do not despawn if moved far.
WOOT, I just saw you doing that in the tunnel to those bots. :D :D I also did that to all those bots with Jammer Leeches before they added those Goblin Hunters. Being RDM, it was easy for me to do. Log off while I slept it in the water, log back on and watch the fun begin ;)
I went to Sea Sarpent Grotto and found 7 RMT's standing under that "bridge" in the room with the gold, silver and mythril door are, and they was outside aggro range. So what I did was to run back to Norg, change to RDM/BLM, pulled a lot of mobs with blink and stoneskin on and escaped. Came back and found all of them dead (one being killed when I got there). Amazingly fun, I've never laughed that much in ages lol ^^ Do the same! I bet they're there at your server too ;p

so how do you know the fishermen are RMT? Maybe its a second character someone uses to fish maybe? and you can get sent to GM jail/banned for MPK...

Too bad FFXI fixed the MPK thing. I only know a few mobs that dont despawn after pulling htem to their camps. :(
