How would you like to be in a fu@cking cage that small with a metal buttom, they can test human cell tissue, animals systems are not the same as ours, they bleed just like we do. So let's do the testing on you if it's so great
One thing that you disbelievers keep bringing up is the monkey seeing the camera. Most of the monkeys react to humans coming into the room, knowing that they will be pulled from the cage, not the camera. When they settle down, they don't pace like you are led to believe.
PETA took over 100 hours of a tape and made a 20 minute tape out of it. What do you think they are going to use? The people treating the monkeys kind?
PETA tries to lead you by the nose, don't let them.
Give me a break. You really expect people to believe that all of these undercover investigations are done with visible cameras? Additionally, the monkey isn't behaving that way only because they see a camera. Unless you expect people to believe that the researchers had train them to act in a certain way if they see visible cameras.
@Casadh Many are done with hidden cameras - some are done with visisble ones. In oregon the person took the footage (while working) pretending to be doing a study on animal behaviour.
Large cameras scare many animals because they don't see a mechanical device - they see a giant eye looking at them.
@speakingofresearch I know you are in the propaganda machine to protect vivisectionists from criticism and critical scrutiny, but, seriously, are you for real or is this some sort of ironic joke project?
No, monkeys don't see a giant eye looking at them when they see a large camera. They see a metallic object.
No serious scientist in the field of animal behavior would say that monkeys would mistake large cameras for large eyes.
@Casadh But when watching films of cobras I have noticed they will spit venom at the camera lenses, and they instinctively direct their venom at what they believe to be eyes. While not the same animals, I don't see how it is so farfetched to think that a monkey could possibly believe a cameria is some weird eyeball as well.
@Casadh It seems, after seeing thousands of videos, that monkeys do have an issue with cameras. If not caged, they charge the camera. I believe it's the whole staring thing that challenges them. Remember that Travis the Chimp went for the eyes.
That said, I do believe the abuse, but I don't like PETA using the same footage for each investigation.
@friscolane There is no abuse, at least not in federally-funded universities. I can't speak for the private sector, because I don't know their practices, but even there, strict USDA-enforced regulations are in place. Most abused monkeys in primate shelters come from supposedly animal-loving pet owners.
The cameras used are hidden the animals will not see them, otherwise the investigators would be kicked out of these tortue chambers, who ever created the video need to rethink.
@MrTheBigGuy Actually in Oregon the infiltrator was pretending to be studying aspects of animal welfare, and set up full video cameras (not secret cams).
@MrTheBigGuy When you watch these vids, be aware where the camera is and the person doing the abusing. 9 times out of 10 it's the person holding the camera. These vids try to make it worse than it is. I have seen some vids that the person holding the camers is hurting the monkey and the other techs are telling them to stop it.
Don't be suckerd in. Abuse does happen, but not like these PETA vids make it out to be.
The cameras used are secretely hidden, therefore the animals would not see the camera at all other wise the investigators would be kicked out. Wh ever created this video needs to think more seriously.
>> "It's facilities put animal welfare as a highest prirority."
What complete bullshit. You cannot torture an animal and claim that its welfare is your highest priority.
And of course the lab was cleared by the USDA. This is the organization that allows "scientists" to lock animals in cages and perform painful, and often useless, experiments on them, sometimes for decades. Their word means nothing.
I honestly for common senses sake when new treatment or drug is found what is the first thing to be treated? Well an animal veterinary science benifits and so does conservation efforts
The best idea i've heard yet! why let them be housed and fed by the taxes from the people they murdered/raped etc. let them be the guinea pig of human testing!! PERFECT!, i bet there would be a steady decline in the amount of rapes and murders if they knew that weas their fate!
DownInAhole... you joined in April, you are 25 and you try to show people way older and more informed than you what the world is all about... Are you on some lab's payroll to defend the abuse they do in the name of "science"? There are many alternatives to experimentation with animals, and more trustworthy. There are many products that are not produced by animal's suffering. Educate yourself before you attack! It is easier to call people hippies when they challenge your little world, isn't it?
So exactly what alternative do you have for, say, discovering whether a novel drug is going to be potentially dangerous to humans in a Phase I clinical trial? Or how do you discover the side effects of sending an electronic impulse to a certain part of a brain?
Ohhh you came out to help your little buddy... how cute! another 23 year old with all the answers, people, stand back!!! One answer for you: computer simulation. Maybe you heard of it??
I think you are the pathetic one. How dare you call names to someone you know nothing about. Oh wait, they don't call you a troll for nothing. Did you ever wonder why there are so many activists out there? Weren't you ever taught not to speak if you have nothing good to say? I bet your mamma is really proud of you. You have a great day.
DownInAhole91083 .. What planet are you from ??? Humans are another form of animal .. are you ready to be tested on ??? OK donate yourself to science to prove to us you're able to stand the pain animals have to cope with !!! Why do you call us hippies ??? We care ... is that so wrong ???
By stopping lab testing on animals is certainly not denying treatment to anyone. there are many new ways in which these people can test witrhout using a living breathing being. You should check it out before you makes claims you can't back up.
Aren't you a really nice guy. You shouldn't call yourself such names, it's not nice. Do some research and come back and then you may speak. Until then, stay in the closet before your found out. LMFAO.
Any animal in any research facility should be removed and given proper care. Who do these so called scientists think they are. No animal research lab should be open in this day and age. Uncalled for and ludicrious to say the least. They are in it for the money, not any other reason. They can be standing side by side with Dr. Mengle
Andro: I bet this is ONPRC's public relations department trying to clean up after the investigations. I've had e-mail contact with the head guy and it's amazing how much lying and self deception takes place there. This doesn't even show any of the incontrovertible evidence of abuse that the video has on tape. This is chickenshit of ONPRC, but they don't care. $307 million in grants for 2007, private corporation, pays no taxes (real estate, corp, local, state, etc.) All taxpayers money.
For the money?! That is the most idiotic and rediculous argument I've ever heard against animal research. You obviously have no clue what so ever about science and research, do you?!
It costs more to house and care for animals than it does to run computer simulations or whatever. Just the animals themselves cost thousands of dollars to acquire. If there was a cheaper way to get the same results, of course they'd use it.
only a nosouled, mercyless torturer can support those monsters-those beautifull, innoccent monkeys have a right to be free and have a familly and play in the sun-this type of ppl who do this and get rich are not human and should be punished accordingly like same treatment for them that they inflicted on those helpless, pain feeling sensuous, tender creatures...
33 MILLION dollars in grants in 2007.... wow, that's a load of money. No wonder you are protecting this facility. Follow the money!
Have you no heart, no respect, no compassion - are you human? How much are they paying you to debunk this horrific practise. Sure hope you can live with yourself.
How dare you even suggest they are not mistreated! I see you have been deleting my comments, therefore it makes me feel I have very valid points.... once again, I ask everyone to WATCH THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO FOR THE TRUTH !!!

Do you swallow everything you're told? I bet you haven't even stepped into a research facility.
Let's look at the two possibilities.
A) It's a massive coverup by big organizations so they don't have to admit that the animals have to go through bad stuff
OR
B) The monkeys really are treated as well as they can be under the circumstances.
Which seems more likely?
Rundvelt 1 year ago 2
Two possibilities? How about a third:
C) There are very few standards in place to protect lab animals. Enforcing even these low standards is not a priority for the USDA.
No cover up is actually needed, as most people simply don't give a damn.
Glasya666 1 year ago

You have the animal welfare act. You have IACUCs which cover all species. You have regulations from OLA and AALAC for any NIH labs.
