...Okay, here's the thing about NiGHTS' gender...

Nights is a Nightmaren, a sort of etherial, incorporeal being. That being the case, he/she/it -HAS- no gender! Gender is a concept that does not apply to nightmaren. If it still doesn't make sense, think of certain microorganisms that reproduce by mitosis. They don't have a gender because they don't need them, and sence Nightmaren don't need to 'reproduce', but are created by Wizeman, they are all gender neutral. NiGHTS just looks feminine.

As with all dream beings neither Reala nor NiGHTS has a gender. Dream beings appear in whatever gender the viewer wants them to be. So in a sense they are both neither gender and both genders. Although Reala is portrayed more towards being a guy then a girl which is what makes people think NiGHTS is a girl in the first place. Long story short they are non gendered by default.
