what kind of motor is that and can you use washing machine motors or treadmill motors? if so, does it matter what kind?

To determine a motor you need to figure out the following.

What can you mount on the output shaft for the motor you have?

What duty cycle are you going to need?

What HP are you going to need?

What power do you have available?

What is the output speed in RPM's that you are going to need?

How is the motor going to mount on your machine?

I am sure there are other things to look for but those are the basics.
