  • amazing vid

  • Top fun catching Giant trevally,

    Cheers Greg

  • haha the man in the vid is like: You'r kidding... Ohh just snapped a line.. Seriously if that was me I would break something and then be angry all day! Fishing requires a lot of patience. Thanks a lot for your advices. Great videos guys and subscribed :)

  • That's all part of Giant Trevally Fishing and big bust ups are part of the game, with spectacular surface strikes which keep you coming back for more,

    Cheers Greg

  • do people still kill GT? butt damnnnnnn reefari your videos are AWSOMEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • Unfortunately some people still kill Giant Trevally, or known as GT's. There's no regulations against this, but if there's a big enough push, most GT's are released by sports fisherman, too good to catch once, and they're not the best eating. Especially when spoilt with all the other awesome reef fish. Thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoy the videos, heaps more to come, Make sure you check our latest Red Video,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari thanks reefari! those GT are awsome fish. keep the videos coming they just keep getting better and better!;)

  • GT's are definately Awesome, don't get to fish for them as much as I'd like, although we lost a good one the other day, and landed a baby, Video coming soon,

    Cheers Greg

  • cheers!

  • You can also catch Giant Trevally trolling lures around reef edges and points or islands and rock with deep edges and white water.

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari im so honored to have been given such an advice from you sir. im so addicted to fishing, cant wait for summertime. i thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and my bottle of beer for your attention, useful advice and vids.. cheers!!

  • now i know... thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good fun Giant Trevally Fishing and once you get into it, can be pretty addictive,

    Cheers Greg

  • do these popper work during the night ?!!

  • Good Question, Could do, but popper fishing for Giant Trevally is very visual, especially working the reef edges. If some lights around and Giant trevally feeding will work,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari thanks,

but do u know if it works at all for any kind of fish not just GTs

  • Mainly for surface feeders, I know they catch Barra on them at night in the impoundments, Tarpon in the Estuaries, depends on what you are targetting,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari

    I haven't evolved yet to catch these !! :D

I mainly go for tailor and whiting during the night as am allergic to strong aussie sun :( I can't set in the hot sun for more than 5 mins

  • Shame about the sun, Can be harsh, Tailor should hit poppers!! and even on Youtube, there is footage of whiting on small poppers, worth a look, and good luck,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari

    Cheers,

  • wish they had these babies closer to California!!!

  • Definately an awesome fish the Giant Trevally and the surface strikes are pretty spectacular. I think you guys call them Jacks over there!!

    Cheers Greg

  • awsome mate...i'm from malaysia and i'll go fishing my first GT soon...with popping technic...;)..have a nice day mate..

  • Addictive stuff, once you get in Giant Trevally fishing, and especially with poppers and those awesome surface strikes, good luck

    Cheers Greg

  • great stuff Greg. how many lbs rod and what line test is recomended for fishing GT using poppers.

  • Would look at a rod about 7 ft, great for casting, at least 50lbs, and good quality braid of 50 lbs at least as well, depending on the size of the GT's. We're running Tuff tackle reels 9000, or preferably the 10000, and 80lb line, Also looking at putting 100lb braid on a 10000 Diablo Tuff Tackle, awesome reels rated up to 130lb. We get some big giant Trevally up to 50 kilo's and can be unstoppable. top fun,

    cheers Greg

  • thanks!!!lets hope i catch one!!

  • hi,,beautiful fish.,i'm a mauritian!!i wanna know where do u fish that????is it near the reef???or in the bay?????

  • The Giant Trevally caught in this video were out along the reef edges amongst the Great Barrier Reef. This was on our Hardline trip approx 150 - 200 Kilometres offshore. But we also get plenty of Giant Trevally around the Nearby islands off Mackay, Queensland Australia approx 20 kilometres off shore and they can grow to massive sizes, sure take some stopping,

    cheers Greg

  • nothing more exciting than topwater fishing! some big GT's! you guys are in fisherman's paradise down there...can't even imagine how it would be to fish and spearfish at the great barrier reef. I'll definitly catch up with you guys once I visit australia..can't get enough of this videos..I'm crazy for catching those beautiful red emperors, coral trouts, cods.. do you offer spearfishing trips too? good work!

  • Hi,

We definately spoilt off Mackay, some great fishing, but also large distances the only downside, but a good range of species, Giant Trevally are definately awesome and take some stopping. Some nice Red emporer too!!!

    cheers Greg

  • the Rooster Halco poppers work great or have Been using Cultiva poppers, Have a video coming up with our favourite poppers for Giant trevally. I think the 135 halco rooster poppers are a great size and great action. Well worth a try,

    Cheers Greg

  • what sort of popper is that Greg???...looks the business.

Another great vid...thanks for posting it.
