Zeiss is pronounced "z-i-s" with the 'i' as in iPod. The clearing of images at different range is called auto-focus. The Zeiss Optics are largely a gimmick as a non-Zeiss lens will perform just about the same on a webcam. Just FIY.

@AtomicSeal well webcams are usually bad at taking snapshots when ur holding them because of image stabilization, just lay it on a flat service and make sure it doesnt move.

I was thinking that it wouldn't work on my iMac, but actually it did. It was such easy... just plugged it in, and then i could use the camera. The software CD is just extra features like effects etc, which only works on xp/vista/7.

Even in normal quality, what this webcam is capable of is absolutely unreal. Had I the money, this would be my next webcam. Perhaps even my ONLY webcam. I have a Logitech QuickCam Communicate MP. This Pro 9000 is basically Logitech's best item. Best of all is that this COMPLETELY fits within my PC specifications, because I can't keep up with things requiring 512 MB RAM or more. As I said in a similar video, this would be my ultimate webcam.

The light comes on when you turn the camera on, you can also set it to be on forever or not at all, the red ring you're talking about is the light.

This camera sucks. I han a vey old Logistech camera and I never had any problems while video chatting in Skype. Now with this camera, it does not work AT ALL!!! My PC has 2 GB of RAM, but as soon as I call someone and start video in Skype, everything just stops, Skype hangs on. What is the problem?

And also the HD video qyality doesn't work very good, only in the e-mail size you can move properly without lags.

I tried to download Skype, but it turned my screen into virtual Picasso abstract painting. LOL. Something is wrong here. I tried to change the resolution, nothing seems to work. Will have to read up more on this stuff. Can't find demo on youtube.

if you have it connected and allow for her to view the webcam then yes she should be able to hear you and see you because it has voice and video chat, and i would go with skype because its much faster and clearer when you are talking with someone; unlike windows live messenger.

I have been on the fence on getting a webcam for awhile now and your review just pushed me off. :P Everything I have seen on this camera has been amazing on it. I just got this cam yesterday ( and I got a free labtec webcam 2200 with it!) and I can't stop using it! It is built beautifully, and the quality is amazing. I did a review of it today, it's on my channel if anyone wants to see how the special effects actually look.

I have the exact same cam, and it's awesome. I have a Q for you, though: Do you use "RightLight" when making movies, or do you use your own settings? I tried using RightLight, and the video jitters too much, even though there is ample lighting in my room.

If anyone else has any handy tips they can offer, that would be great. I have to turn RightLight off each time I make videos, otherwise it jitters too much; the vid looks like South Park. Lol.

I wonder why it's choppy, though... Unless, you're sitting facing a window during the day, indoor lighting doesn't seem to do any justice to a good camera like the QC 9k. A friend of mine has a Macbook with a built-in iSight cam, and that baby can function beautifully even in low light situations; there's no jitter whatsoever.
