@darken27 I went there, I heard it again, and I don't agree. In fat, I don't mind it in the slightest, I appreciate how the spectator is showing that he/she likes it.
@Gunner193 I wouldn't mind if it had been a successful attempt. Instead, it's the one weird guy who thinks he can start an applause, and two or three people join in out of pity, and it dies out in a really awkward manner. Then there's feelsbadman.jpg.
@darken27 Hmm, that clarifies things. I thought you were disapproving of the very ACT of clapping. In this case, yeah, it doesn't sound good, but I didn't even hear the first time through - I caught it on a replay.
About the 22 second mark - the reason it looks like there is only one note being stepped on is that the black keys (half steps) don't light up, and there's a delay. I'm pretty sure the first of the two notes in question is played by the performer's left foot on the black key two from the end, and the ones before are further down.
at 0:22, i dont think anything is wrong, the sound is slightly delayed by about 1/5 of a sec. either only the piano has lag or the whole video is out of sync
It's quite obvious that something strange is going on here. When they start out it looks like the keyboard's octaves are tuned the same. Because they are dancing the same phrase in different octaves but it sounds the same. But then he dances up the keyboard and it sounds like it goes into standard tuning. I do believe they are playing/dancing this piece, but there is something strange going on off camera to account for these discrepancies.
To all the naysayers, they are indeed playing the keyboard with their feet in this video. (Listen for the occasion bum notes.) The piece has also been arranged in such a way that a full 88 keys are not needed.
i think there's just a problem because the audio doesn't always perfectly match the video but that doesn't mean that the dancers are faking in the video. Technical errors like that are common on clips when video has fast movement.
Yes, they danced very nicely. But they are not playing the notes. Their feet sometimes move down the keyboard when the notes are going up, and vice versa. And, if someone behind the scenes is manipulating what the keys do, that proves they are definitely only dancing to the music, not playing it.
I thought I saw this too, but watched a second time and the going up while he was moving down is because the "going up was done by the other player, further away from the camera. I am an organist, and they were playing this.
You are obviously one of those young, immature, exceedingly rude jerks who believe everything they see on the net. It doesn't matter how many accounts or web sites they have, they are NOT playing the notes. Their foot movements don't always match the notes going up and down. And when the one guy answers the other near the end, the notes are the same, but they are playing different keys. If your brain was as fast as your filthy mouth, you might be able to follow it better.
They most certainly are playing the notes. The proof is in the fact that there are missed notes later in the video. If the performers were faking the video, why would they put wrong notes in? And they are playing different keys but being in harmony because of overtone series later in the video.
They are dancing to pre-recorded music. Sometimes their foot movements match the notes going up and down, but many times they don't. e.g.: a footstep goes down the keyboard, but the actual note being played goes up. And in the 'harmony' segment you refer to, the guy higher up on the keyboard dances to 4 or 5 notes, then the other guy answers him (dances the same phrase) lower down the keyboard. If he was actually 'playing' the keys, his notes would be an octave lower, but they're not.
OK, gr[u]mpy1741, try this: Count the keys of the keyboard. Are there 88 keys? Could it be possible the notes played by the keys of the keyboard changes as the song progresses, to accommodate the full range of notes needed to perform the song? The level of showmanship might also require some behind-the scenes adjustment of which keys play which notes. I see no reason to doubt when there are such reasonable possible explanations for the perceived discrepancies. The performers danced well.
This is just so amazingly done, I've watched it four times and it makes me very happy! What a lot of practice this must have required. Great musicianship!! Woo hoo!!! :)

@darken27 So what if they're clapping? They're showing how much they enjoy the performance in their own way. Don't bitch about it and enjoy.
Gunner193 9 months ago
@Gunner193 I wasn't remarking on the playing. Just the failed attempt at starting a clap-along. listen at about 1:01, and tell me you don't agree.
Playing was great. Clap-along that lasted about 10 seconds, not so much.

Just happened to walk into an Allen Organ store after cleaning a nearby chimney.
