Seeing this show when I was sweet 16 takes me back and I loved seeing the other three Monkees in Norfolk. ;) That was a show that I will never forget it was my 1st show ever :) m
By the way, I saw the guys (minus Mike of course) in Pittsburgh. The show was fantastic. There were people there of all ages and everyone had a ball. I'm going to see the guys again in September.
I was 4 years old when these were on broadcast TV. I loved them. I was stone in love with Peter despite being little more than a toddler at the time. My kid is now 13 and we got these dvds on netflix. She ate them up. She absolutely loved them.
@ImJoeToo Same here. I was only about three when I fell in love with the Monkees. My first love was Davy. I've met both Peter and Davy and they are so sweet. My daughter is 12 and we also purchased the DVD set. We watch them all the time.
One of my favourite Monkees songs!! Love Davy's voice in this, and you can definitely hear Neil Diamond's sound. Aw, how cute is Peter in his rabbit ears?? (sorry, a little obsessed!)
I really love this song, in fact I'm listening to it right this second. I turned the channel on my tv the other day and the monkees were on! Now I can watch it whenever.
@GonzoGuyy Unfortunately Mike won't be involved. I recently talked to Aviva, one of Davy's bandmembers, and she said they will be starting their U.S. tour in June. I guess it's possible that Mike might make a few surprise appearances like he did on the 1986 tour.
@Poochyenagirl This is too bad. Mike is really cheating himself. There are still tons of loyal fans that want to see four Monkees. I urge all Monkees fans to write to Mike in care of his official website, and politely urge him to make the tour a true Monkees tour...video ranch dot com has a link to make contact.
For all the hoopla back in the day about how the Monkees weren't 'real' musicians, I think their songs have stood the test of time very well. They are still VERY listenable, and there are a lot of kids (teenagers) nowdays who like the music and the TV show. I grew up with them, I still love them, and I hope they do make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!
This is the long version with an intricate organ solo part that was deleted from the final version which was used on the More Of The Monkees LP, as presented in Episode #30, “The Monkees In Manhattan” (a.k.a “The Monkees Manhattan Style”) (prod. #4728 aired on NBC 4-10-1967). 8^B
these videos bring back such good memories of being a little kid, my family all around, for a short time anyways, being the youngest the older kids most in their teens when i was born weren't around long.
i really love these guys. they are so funny. My son and I spent one summer watching these guys on TV. So memorable to share my favorite TV shows from the past with new generation!
One of my first albums, got it as a birthday gift; it was my heart's desire. GOOD ALBUM! Good ol' Grandma & Grandpa even paid the extra dollar for the stereo version! This is an awesome song. I still say, anyone who thought they were too sophisticated to groove to the Monkees, missed the best part of the Sixties! This joy is what it was all about.
I agree this is my favorite Monkey song too and they had a lot of good ones. I don't recall it being one of their bigger hits, but it was a favorite of mine. Peace.
Davy Jones has always been my favorite teen idol. He was so good-looking, and I could care less that he's short. I also love his accent. I watched The Monkees back when it first aired, and I watched it because of him. I'll never forget when I read in a Tiger Beat magazine that he was married and had a little girl. I was probably about 9 or 10 years old, but I was devastated. I was so jealous of Maureen McCormick when she got to kiss him on The Brady Bunch. He is still handsome today.
This is easily one of the bounciest, uplifting songs ever written. I am so grateful the Monkees TV show is available on VHS/DVD. They had some thin plot lines, but they were very, very funny. My teenagers love it. The show was, and is, an emotional vacation from all the stress & nonsense in the news. The music was excellent and the group members all were nice "eye candy". THANK YOU to everyone who made this show!
@mjcamck71 Truer words were never spoken my friend. I wore the grooves out of these albums. As a kid, this show was the biggest escape vehicle I had. Just as fun to watch today. Awesome.
Amazingly the songs were probabaly as good as lennon and macartney , neil diamond who wrote this song , goffin king etc etc , okay bubblegum group , but it sounds good , shame on you jann werner
