Long time listener, first time caller. That quarry is about 60 ft deep all around. I am not surprised you didn't catch anything fishing on the surface. I'd be really interested in watching you throw some weight on the line and seeing if there isn't anything at the bottom.

@lsdmt At 60 ft who knows what life forms inhabit the depths, maybe even the Creature from the Black (Eno) Lagoon (a movie from my childhood in the 1950s).
When I go by again, I'll use a drop shot rig and see if anything nibbles down deep.
As I think you realize, an aspect of my fishing episodes is my visits to fishing spots that I have not previously visited (more to come). The parks here are so beautiful. I'm reliving my boyhood: adventures in the woods.
