  • In some situations you dont have to say much to communicate.

  • foi se a era dos fantoches

  • Homosexual activists understand the power of words.

Please visit my channel to watch a one-minute video clip in which popular atheist author Richard Dawkins admits that homosexual activists "hijacked the word 'gay'".

The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.

The word "gay" helps homosexual activists push their agenda.

  • Dear Santa...

  • This is like i record a bunch of lines and then play them and it sounds like i am talking to the computer and it answers back. Wow magic...

  • dont be fooled. its projected image.

  • feh

  • No, it isn't that simple. Its motion tracking and mapping technology. Getting that to work with the projected image takes some ingenuity. The problem is people aren't understanding what they are seeing here. Low IQ youtubers commenting when they shouldn't be.

  • @qigong1001 Barely. It was a preplanned series of scripted, canned animations with hardly any interactivity whatsoever. There was no actual "mapping" of the image to his drawing, the absolute most any of his actions accomplished was the triggering of the next 100% canned scheduled response. There are Wii and flash games more impressive than this. The only significant technological accomplishment seen here is in the contrast ratio of whatever projector he was using. Worst TEDtalk ever

  • @Superabound2 Go to his website and you will see a behind the scenes look at the technology that lead to his show. If you are having difficulty accepting or understanding it, I will be happy to explain. Its no secret, its no trick, its just technology.

  • @qigong1001 By all means, explain it to me. But from what i can tell its just using simple motion tracking technology thats been around for more than a decade. Theres no AR symbolic tracking or overlay, theres no realtime image or gesture interpretation. Its just a projector following a white rectangle around and playing a scripted cartoon on it, plus a little bit of magician's sleight-of-hand from Tempest

  • @Superabound2 Go see his other videos. The whole point is that it uses open source technology, software and in this case sony hardware, so anyone can do it (maybe not everyone, takes some time to learn and figure out). Thats the whole beauty of this. Are you one of those angry MS programmers mad at the open source community? What exactly are you upset about? Have you done anything similar? I haven't. If its so simple and ridiculous, please upload a video on how to perform something similar.

  • @qigong1001 No i dont work for MS, dont hate open source, im not a programmer (or a stage magician), and have never done anything similar. Ive also never been invited to give a TEDtalk. What im "upset" about is a magician using magician sleight-of-hand to make his presentation seem to be using much more advanced tech than it really is, and the whole thing simply not rising to the level ive come to expect from these talks. It would have been more at home at a childrens birthday party.

  • @Superabound2 Oh and Happy New Year!

  • I love AR technology

  • I think people are forgetting about the entertainment part of TED....

  • wow

  • But how did the pen stick ??!!

  • In the words of Ra's Al Ghul: "Amusing. But pointless."

  • Uhm... all of the ideas of this video were already presented at TED by Johnny Chung Lee in one of the previous editions, am I right?

  • Entertaining, but its obvious he rehearsed all the movements and it was just a projection onto a white board, thus not really very magical....or technological.

  • Omg, that friggin cool

  • 2:26 Should we be seeing that?

  • I thought that was weed growing in the background

  • Now that we have this, what use are mexicans ?

  • This looks to me as a total rip off La Linea : watch?v=8VWcqILJam4

La Linea was created in 1972 by Osvaldo Cavandoli and counts 90 episodes.

Now you play one forty years old cartoon on a ipad, and voilà, you're at TED talks.

  • ahaha that's adorable

  • it was cool, take the word magic out of it and you get my approval

  • I think this is cute. Maybe in the future, magicians won't have beautiful assistants, but funny cartoons to help them!

  • the growing haters on TED Talks is stagering..

  • I really find this, what he does, to be an art form in its own right...

  • I'm well aware that Marco's stuff is mostly basic tech and some timing but I still love the hell out off that guy

  • Tooo great!

  • Scribblenauts!!

  • Everyone's a critic, jeez.

  • To those bewildered, the main points of this speech:

    1. Interactive surfaces.

    2. Finding new creative ways to relate to tech and storytelling.

    3. Entertainment

    4. Stop complaining you sad fucks. You worthless do nothing whiny cunts.

  • His timing was a bit off in a number of places... but overall, an amusing use of technology and presentation.

  • i was thoroughly entertained

  • rehearsed?!

  • The fuck?

  • You know why it's magic? because you need to play this to a 6 year old or less and see the awe and wonderful in their faces as it lights up... Leave your cynicisms for a while and this turns into a fun and enjoyable video.

  • just a interactive projector, and some imagination, thats all it is.

practically useless outside of entertainment only.

  • I cant wait for this to hit the market... the new uses this will allow... image measuring a wall for a piece of furniture. or putting in a new window... you can see what it will really look like before you do you.

  • It's sad to see ppl not being able to see more than what's directly what's in front of them.

He's using technology to present a creative way of being able to use computers to interact with real-life and all you see is a stick-figure animation.

If you saw a robot walking on it's own would you be equally unimpressed because you wouldn't see the big deal about walking?

This or robots that barely walk are equally useless, but necessary in-between steps. Not being impressed does not make you cool.

  • Wasn't there another TED video where the guy used this elaborate iPhone based "magic trick" to do a story-telling thing? I mean, it was also fairly lame.

  • TEDtalks usually have at least some kind of merit...

    WTF is this garbage?

  • I'm sure he spent at least 15 minutes designing and rehearsing this performance.

  • This is incredibly lame.

  • why is this magic?

  • the bird takes off before he touches it. lame.

  • i dont support entertainers that practice a pre-recoreded projection routine and expect it to be called innovative and new. the only AR tech that was featured was that whiteboard tracking.. which is not hard to do.

  • I want a scientist to figure out how to shoot fireballs... You know, practical magic, for frying genetically engineered orcs.

  • well thats obviously fake

he's not doing anything, that are some pre-recorded stuff

    thumbs down to the vid

  • This is pretty cool

  • he doesn't even have control. this is just pre recorded movie and him "acting out" with bad timing

  • @ccssdxdx No shit. You want a cookie?

  • That is awesome!

  • This was the jar jar binks of TEDtalks.

  • @ratholin That is the greatest comment I've ever seen on youtube. Thank you so much for your insight, you truly made my day.

  • Get off the stage, you bum!! Booooo! Boooo!!

  • @ratholin You're not there, he can't hear you, this is a video you can stop at any time.

I hope that cleared some things up for you.

  • Comment removed

  • great another magic commercial that involves no magic.

  • @xjustamem0ryx As opposed to all those other magic shows that include real magic.

  • @jussts

no, magic is all a crock. but what this guy does has no art in it.

he doesn't even try to deceive you. he uses either MS paint with a motion pen and projector or one of those apps that draws shit for you when you faceroll on it.

  • @jussts

waving a stick around a surface that plays an already made flash movie is not magic.

it's trying to make trifling look like work.

  • OH MY GOD THIS GUY IS A WIZA.....

oh... you mean it's just a projector with tracking software?

  • I like it, and IMO it does fit in the application of technology and design. He did a great job using them, glad to see that showcased here at TED too. It can't always be tech or design theory and/or research, sometimes one needs to see modern application.

  • this is was not all insightful or revealing of anything profound. its cute though.

  • Very nice!

  • stupid

  • Pointless.

  • waste of time

  • This was a bit entertaining, but how is this even remotely TED material? Sorry but this was just silly.

  • @aeslkjfhghae

Technology..? Design..? I think it fits quite well.

  • Eh

  • Underwhelming.

  • @Jaikkanen his powerlevel.....ITS UNDER 9000!!!!!

  • @Jaikkanen Underwhelming is a good word for it. It seems pretty obvious to me that he's simply rehearsed the sequence. Very little of the routine is dependent upon variable interaction. In which case, there's not much point to the whole thing to begin with.

  • It'd be funny if that was just a white board and a projector :|

  • meh

  • hes a douche

  • Where is my daily TED? D:

  • That was pretty cool!

  • at first i was this sucks, but then the story got "magic" in terms.

liked the video game type music.

  • @GrudgyDiablo Lol, I'm not depressed. This was just boring. You're probably a boring person so you found this incredible, aye?

  • @poeticromance good job Einstein you figured it out ,ofcourse he is using pre-created stuff and he just makes it would like he is doing it at the moment but there are placed where you can see he is not that precise and that is why we know it is pre-made if he was even better in what he is doing we would be able to see that it is pre-made

  • @Tonchev95 you miss the point. he claims to be a magician, but what he does has no concept of what magicians do. so fuck off "Einstein".

  • 87 haters should go get an apple or an androind ...

  • I wonder what Socrates would have made of this, cyber illusionist

  • That was neato.

  • that was gr8

  • but still....where did the lighter fluid come from??

  • but rather badly done..lift your game Marco

  • rip off of my fave childhood tv viewing...la linea

  • my guess is he used an infrared camera and ir emitters on the corner of the canvas (and his pen) to act as tracking dots.

  • this guy is great, clearly loves what he's doing

  • Don't know if it's actually motion-tracked or if he rehearsed the motions to sync with the projection. But either way once it got going it was really good!

Also, it kindof reminded me of the oooold Gertie-the-dinosaur-performance where the performer interacts with his cartoon character.

    watch?v=OiL4qplyi7Y

  • amazing!

  • While this would be great for children... I am not impressed :/

  • Cute.

  • This is worse than that shit emoticon B.S. from a years ago. Yes im still bitter about that 1! I know it was up to me to watch this but this is as if trader joes let a handfull of Carl Buddig's & chef boyardee's in the mix, I trust TED to do some proper screening.

  • I don't really understand how this is augmented reality. it seems like a cartoon that he's pretending to interact with. not a bad performance, just nothing particularly interesting.

  • WOW....The timing have to be accurate and even the positions have to be exact.

This is creativity at its best!

    Thank you Ted!

  • at 4:15 his real life hand is too slow with the cookie and the virtual hand is already moving.. ruins the illusion and suspension of disbelief, not a big deal in most cases, but here there is no content other than the illusion.

  • STUPID

  • isnt it just a projector thats pointed towards him? whats the innovative technology or magic in that??

  • amazing..

  • Cute

  • I didn't know Edward Norton knew magic?

  • @adamjamesm so does hugh jackman.

  • @adamjamesm Watch, "the Illusionist." Duh.

  • 0:15

  • very entertaining to say the least

  • What the hell did I just watch?

  • "It's better than what you can do, dear youtuber" Honestly? Ad hominem? The man isn't much of a magician: majority of the act was badly executed and there was no mystery to it.

  • I've seen god and he draws reality with a Sharpie pen.

  • @2bsirius he didnt draw anything actually lol

  • @2bsirius I`m very interested in the first part of your comment, please tell us all more.

  • @naybobdenod

I thought the part about drawing reality with a Sharpie pen was the more interesting bit.

  • Whenever there's one of those half-applauses, I want someone to yell "FAIL!"

  • Very cool! Thank you.

  • i can do the same crap with a galaxy tab

  • this guy is not a magician... he is simply using pre-created programs and animations.

  • @poeticromance

You've got a point but there's a lot more to it than that. If you watch the video about how he does it (/watch?v=A2Lgw9zFH-Y#t=12m40s), there's a lot more technology involved in the augmented reality stuff and at least in my opinion that can be a lot cooler than some traditional slight-of-hand magic.

  • @poeticromance

Great observation Captain Obvious. Now gtfo.

  • alright mr. self-appointed-TED-promoter. you're obviously biased towards TED talks regardless of the stupid message they convey. you get the fuck out. dipshit.

  • @poeticromance

Except that I'm not promoting TED, I'm making fun of you. One doesn't need a bias to recognize a hopelessly clueless individual such as yourself.

  • @poeticromance

    no shit sherlock.

  • @poeticromance thats not the point you idiot... and like people have already mention; gtfo.

  • @yudy92 really? did you not watch the video? you missed the point. open your eyes dumb fuck.

  • @poeticromance That's like saying that a police officer is not a police officer because he once kayaked. You meant to say "this is not magic". Even than, perhaps you should research the requirements of a piece of magic.

  • @poeticromance check his older work. He is one of the great magicians, and is now experimenting with a new field.

  • @peterbriers The stuff of magic is things you can't figure out - visual illusions like Chris Angel or superhuman feats like David Blaine fit the bill. Even sophisticated sleigh of hand like Penn and Teller, or "controling nature" like Bafu count as magic. Hooking up a projector with motion tracking software to make cute toons interact with you is not magic. it's just the Playstation Move / Microsoft Kinetic with a projector.

  • @DrQuijano Marco is a renowned magician/illusionist. I think his meaning about the subject is a bit more valid. Like I said, check out his older works. You'll get the vibe better of what he tries to do. His illusions (magic) are more about storytelling, deceiving, make believe. Creating that feeling of 'awe' you have as a child.

  • @DrQuijano If you can't do it yourself, then it's magic. If you can't explain it, then it's magic. I don't think it's as simply as Play Station Move connected to a projector.

  • @Codex1 I have just explained it - this is, at best, a projector with motion tracking software, at worst a memorized routine he performs with a flash movie. Can I do it? Sure. I can stand there and draw on a pad and pretend to be a wizard, so can you. In fact, I can create the video which he projected using Adobe Flash (or any other similar program). You can DL Construct 2, it's free and you can also do "TECHNOMAGICK!!!"

  • @Codex1 As for the "if you can't do it yourself it's magic" bit, then going by that logic, if you're a poor negro in Harlem, then it's "magic" if you take a trip to Europe and hang out with royalty. Seriously, get off your bronze age mentality.

  • Neat.

  • why is the stick man a pedophile..?

  • "Imagination is more important than knowledge"

  • @carefulcarpenter lol, why is that in quote marks

  • @fruiteo I believe Albert Einstein said that.

  • @carefulcarpenter so did my next door neighbor and the postman.

  • @fruiteo

    "Genius creates; others imitate"

    ~~cc

  • @carefulcarpenter no its not :) thats just a thing einstein said

  • @pinochska I was a computer science major who dropped out of the normal left-brained path after college and pursued my creative gifts. By age 30 I was recognized as a master of my art. This does not mean that I had a Masters Degree in Fine Arts, but that I had developed a skillful imagination to compliment my practical and academic talents. My gift was to read what my client was thinking; not by the words they expressed, but by a sensitivity for the environment they identified as their castle.

  • @carefulcarpenter i couldnt be happier for you my friend, i do feel great that you are a success, but imo you are the exception not the rule... the dark ages had a lot of imagination but near zero academic knowledge.. thats where i get my idea from.. i truly believe that knowledge is way more important because even you have to know how to do the crafts you do, not just imagine them... see what im saying?

  • @pinochska "I couldn't be happier". Thank you, my friend~! Both knowledge and imagination are valuable, although, stewardship of the future is best in the careful minds. Knowledge is power-- and ultimately power corrupts. We see this in the out-of-balance left-brain oriented financial system. When creativity is corrupted we can define this as "innovation" vs "creativity"; the controlling mind is "innovative", but not necessarily artistically creative.

    "Genius creates; others imitate"

    ~~cc

  • @carefulcarpenter I totally see your point of view and find it very appealing my friend. sometimes i wish i could be more like that but, I guess we will have to agree to disagree. in the end both parts are important as you said. It just happens that we being different individuals tend to appreciate one over the other a little bit more. The only thing i would argue is, the correlation you present between the financial system and left-brain. Imo the banks and fed are pretty creative at stealing.

  • @pinochska In my work I share an insight into the workings of the creative spirit of man and the expression of subtle feelings and emotions. The women married to the influential and powerful men of Silicon Valley have often found my style and integrity appealing. After many years of reading, and matching that to my intuition, I discovered some very life-enhancing truths beneath the facade of the INNOVATORS. Many husbands of these women have missed a vital aspect to my work.

  • @carefulcarpenter I am finding this conversation very interesting indeed and would like to continue it via private message so that we are not limited by the 500 char rule. What exactly it is you do? please send me a PM. I can assure you I am open-minded and will learn something. Cheers friend.

  • @pinochska Thank you, my cyber-friend. I am a cyber-poet. IRL I am a handyman and a fine cabinetmaker. I serve the needs of those people who dream outside of the cookie cutter world. I am not famous, or in huge demand, for very very few comprehend the value I bring into their homes and lives.

As a cyber-poet I am bound by the 500 character parameters-- this is why I prefer aphorisms and quotes to convey my wisdom and knowledge. YT is full of rational skeptics, but short of poets.

  • Those who have hired me as a handyman or as a fine craftsman/designer, have gained a welcomed insight into these wealth-producing aspects of the balanced creative human mind. Mr. Jobs never called.

The most valuable aspect to love-making is the creative human spirit. The most valuable aspect to material wealth creation is the dissociation from this spirit. I have taught people how to love and to create wealth, but few will risk their ego-- for intellect empowers ego and neglects love.

  • I don't preach or teach when I work for clients. By example they learn about love. With one CEO's family, I worked for over a year on their kitchen, guest bathroom, and entry. By Christmas of that year the wife and husband both, gave sincere hugs and appreciation. For the price of hiring me to do work, they gained a counsellor, of sorts. By the end of the job, they told me I was one of only two people in the world that they trusted. My work, by example, lasts indefinitely. Trends don't.

  • Just my creative human presence, and patience, was a huge change in perspective for them. In a competitive world, they had lost all hope in other people. She said I was more beneficial than their psychologist-- but all I did was listen to their dreams, and create a space for them that was authentic, and emotionally satisfying. This type of high-level person rarely has this kind of contact with a REAL person.

"Imagination is more valuable than knowledge"

  • I worked for many of the brightest and wealthiest people on the planet. Most of my projects were in or around Silicon Valley. I am quite familiar with the creative strengths and weaknesses of the visionaries of society. I am also very experienced with both the acquisition of knowledge and the development of the imagination. About two dozen clients, over the years, expressed to me that I had read their mind.

Each must find their own way; each may pass wisdom to those who seek it.

  • Eh, it's cute.

  • Intor volume has been decreased! Stop skiping the intro!

  • It looks more impressive than what it is, a flash animation projected on a canvas.

But that doesn't mean it's not light-hearted and fun, brighten up you guys.

  • hmmm a lot of applicationsi can think about for this interface.... Too bad i am not that good of a programmer

  • @haudace: You can always try to learn it.. :)

  • And thus came Mario...

  • :-)

  • cheezy as fuck

  • not magic.

  • @Cartwrightsrule Sorry to break this for you kiddo but there is no thing called magic but there is illusions

  • @Cartwrightsrule

    Yay, semantics!

  • Amazing!
