The Dandenong rangers actually extend to North Queensland. I live at the foot of the Dandenong rangers and as you move throughout the country the names change to The Blue Mountains etc..
Totally agree with the rest of the comment, lets hope it doesn't go up again this year by the wild fires, sorry for the negativity.
Did anyone know that this poem was written by Australia's Beloved Banjo Paterson? He is the same poet who wrote Australia's unofficial national anthem 'Waltzing Matilda'.
@fatkinson1954 - Sure did. Not so sure that Waltzing Matida is our "unofficial anthem" ... don't think I'd like my country to be represented by a song about a vagrant who steals a sheep and then commits suicide to avoid being brought to justice by the police.
Check out some of Banjo's other works. He really was a talented guy.
this is wonderful i am a true auzzie and love this and the mountains and can ride for all buggery and have been riding all my life and i am 20 years i love stock man riding

Also, this was filmed near Melbourne, Australia. How do I know that. Melbourne is the only Mountainous part of Australia.
I've been through those mountains when I visited Australia in 1991. They are breathtaking. The trees are rustic and the eucalyptus is incredible.

Yeah, the bushfires can be devastating, but the bush is just so beautiful.
The "Great Dividing Range" is made up of many smaller ranges and stretches all the way from just north of Melbourne up into far north Queensland.
I live in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Beautiful country.
The movie was filmed in the "Snowy Mountains' section of the GDR, which is actually closest to Canberra.
