ezekial was always one of my fav chokes. I use to use it when on top in 1/2 guard and shake my leg to distract. I like this no gi version though. ezekial choke is sneaky !!
Thats like saying, "why punch him with your jab when you can just knock him out with a right hook?"
Of course there are "Other Moves" you can do. Learning a new technique doesn't remove the knowledge of other techniques...it just gives you more option. Some people find nogi Ezekiel really hard to do and to hold, especially with shorter arms...its even harder from the bottom like that.
Its not a dumb question, there is a nogi Ezekiel that is similar to doing a rear naked choke on them, but on the front side. But Jiu-Jitsu is more about taking what options your opponents give to you than it is forcing. Thats why you spend time learning a variety of attacks and counters from multiple positions so that you have options and you can apply the technique you choose for any given situation.
1. You don't need to push him up, there will always be a space between my neck and his for your hand
2. It begins choking him before you extend your arms, it increases pressure as you extend
3. Its natural reaction for people to pull away from a choke and away from your forearm in throat, thats why I like the ezekiel, their natural reaction enforces the choke.
all of these head to head positions are vulnerable to biting by someone willing to do that.Happened to me but thankfully only needed a few stitches in the ear,he was knocked out for his troubles after i got up.Id always go with the preemptive strike option where possible
Equal opportunity attacks can't really be counted as a disadvantage....You can bite them from there as well, and with superior control. But yes, it is something you might have to take in to account for...but truly, that is nit picking...no position is truly invulnerable..all have a weakness. The objective is to minimize your opponents options because you'll never completely nullify them other than being knowing and being prepared for them.

Hey, I love the concept behind the BJJ Street series. It bridges the gi and no gi debate. It is praticial on the street. I only see two videos. The basketball and Ezekiel. Do you have any more?
I can't wait to try this! Can you do this choke without grabbing the shirt? Instead of pulling the shirt bring the head down with right hand at the same time with left hand pushing blade of forearm up in throat? Thanks you guys are the shit!
Haven't thought about that...maybe..will have to play around with it :) Kinna busy with new school opening and everything but we will add some more soon.
This is slick. The choke and all the little details to avoid strikes are really well thought-out. I personally think "Street Ezekiel" is a beast name, but hey, you name it whatever you want. I'm loving the BJJ Street series in general. Keep it up, guys!
Sweet dude!!

I think what you are doing is brilliant, and again proving that bjj adapts as well as evolves. Thank you for doing this.
