Spotlight Comics published an Underdog comic book in 1987. They planned to put out an issue featuring the return of Overcat. I never saw that issue published. Does anyone know if that issue was ever published?
This isn't about strength this issn't about anything but Faith in Underdog! Or as I like to see it the God of dogs! Noone will defeat him as long as all have faith in him! or that cocaine is his ring!
I wasn't around when this show original aired on TV. I only know about it because I saw it when it was aired on CN during the 90's. Without knowing of the original series, I never would have fully understood the movie that came out in 07.
@tinynicktune The only advantages I see with Overcat is that he's(1) he's bigger than Underdog and (2) he doesn't need a "secret energy pill" to keep up his strength. However, he exclaims to his henchmenI(or rather "henchcats") that "I need milk!." That tells me that milk is to Overcat what that pill is to Underdog. "Milk" is Overcat's "can of Spinach."
He didn't seem to lose strength without the milk. After all, his planet was robbing cows precisely because they no longer had any milk. I think he only liked milk a lot, being a cat and all.
@tinynicktune The way he exclaimed," I need milk!," I got the impression that he had more than a desire for milk. 'Would've been interesting if the writers had explored that more.
Interesting point, Gonzo, but that was Overcat's fault--if he had gone to a neutral corner, the referee might have counted Underdog out. Kind of reminds me of the second Tunney-Dempsey fight. Even so, I find the similarities to the Clay-Liston fight even more striking: a fighter who talks in rhyme uses his superior speed to outfight his bigger, slower opponent.
How sad this cartoon ever had to end. Course Wally Cox is long gone and who could see anyone but Wally doing the voice of Underdog? I do a mean Simon Barsinister though. LOL
I'm 46 years old sittin here watchin Underdog beat Overcat and loving every minute of it.

Overcat in his spaceship: I think this is the same back story as Darth Vader.

Very good one. Overcat was the only villain that was actually more powerful than Underdog and a real physical challenge.

@tinynicktune They seemed roughly equal in power to me.

@shadejford
Well, Overcat was stronger, but Underdog was faster and smarter.

The music playing during the closing credits is great. I haven't heard it since I was a young kid in the 60's.

It was fixed, the count was slow when Underdog was down, but very fast when Overcat hit the mat.

Aside from the aluminum floor (seriously, who picked THAT metal for a bout between two super beings?) that actually sounds like a standard ring lol.

No over-grown bucket of fur and fleas is a match for our Underdog!! ♥ ♥

@AwesomeEm101 Next, I suppose that Overcat would be forced to strip a British guard down to his undergarments.
