the devils can check on huge thing of their list in getting a 2 way/offensive defenseman. hes ready to be in the nhl so he controls his own fate based on how he performs in camp and the preseason.

You have no idea about Larsson do you? He's been been watched by scouts in Europe and NA much longer than Hedman was during his draft year and regarded as a potential elite d-man, that's much more rare than elite forwards.

I was certain that he would've have been going 2nd overall but this is an excellent pickup for the Devils to get the best rated d-man. They had faith in someone during their last high draft pick by the name of Scott Neidermayer!

Offensive stars are littered throughout this draft. Large, cool, calm defensemen with this amount of hockey IQ or vision are rare. So much potential in Larsson. The Devils uncharacteristic flop last season and draft lottery win just landed them the best long-term prospect in the draft.

@murdt61 we have very good forwards on the devils and we have lost many great defensemen: scott stevens, scott neidermayer, brian rafalski, and ken danyeko so we needed a good defensemen to fill that role

@murdt61 Larsson is the better player overall and fills a bigger need. Yes center needs to be addressed a true #1 is needed but the hole @ D is much greater than center.

SC is a good player but there are issues and @ #4 you just can't pass up a possible franchise D-man

@NJDEVIL91923 I understand. But at the center position, maybe we'll get someone good during free agency. As long as it doesn't circumvent the salary cap. There are going to be some good centers during the free agent season. But the truth is, we need scoring and we need someone to take the pressure off of Parise and Kovalchuk just so we have more depth. I want to see teams like the Rangers, Flyers, and Penguins get spread thin just for going after Parise and Kovalchuk all the time.
