i like the film but i am cumberbatched so the series is way better in my opinion. i love Martin and benedict, and the writing is great. does anyone else find it really ironic that Benedicts greatest strength is his voice and in my opinion the voice is Roberts greatest weakness. lol x
you make a good point \ its not really comparable in terms of the actors portrayal as they really arent even the same genre (action adventure film vs. television mystery drama)
as a fan of books and different portrayals (and slash)
I'm a bit of a snob, and a huge brett fan, yet BBC sherlock doesnt bother me in the least while the downey jr. drives me nuts...(even with the slashy elements)
Much as I love RDJ, he is not Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is a tall, posh, British gentleman. RDJ is short, American and beardy.
BENEDICT is Sherlock Holmes.

I think the closest is the 2009 film.

I absolutely love the tv show and prefer it but I was surprised at how enjoyable the movies were.

I love RDJ also, but I think the TV show is much better and more intelligent than the movies. Thanks for the comparison though!
