This should be required practice material for anyone even thinking about playing drums. This guy could really lock down a beat. Talk about in the pocket. RIP...
On LP's inside pics, one is Neal is looking to his left, with a couple in background, to me, I'd swear that the white dude on guitar is Leslie West, or just a lookalike...lol...'what's he smokin' will be the answer to that ...huh
I WAS THERE!! My first concert in Hawaii, held inside Diamond Head Crater. I was hoping that a concert I'd attend would be put on album, and my first was. Buddy's huge drums were reverberating against the walls of the volcano, hey Bud, hit those kettle drums hard enough see if we can awaken this fire god. Let me know if put onto dvd...later!!!
FANTASTIC! I have seen santana live and that was one of THE most amazing shows I ever saw. To hear this rendition with the acoustics and percusion is amazing in itself
MY DAD HAD THIS ON 8-TRACK 4 THE CAR AND LP 4 THE HOUSE. I ADDED THIS LP 2 MY OWN COLLECTION AS I COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS. THE UP AND COMING MUSICIANS- DO UR LEARNING WITH THIS KIND OF STUFF!!!
woodwalter is right - what a world that was; there will never be other groups like that, with such geniuses, playing this music, in that atmosphere. Wow.
Santana at his best...Buddy before Crack took over and Neal before Journey...What a world that was. Thanks for the posting DenTwanne...took me back to the Filmore where I saw these guys live.
@wmarcario . If you are looking at the guitarist at 0:46 and again at 0:58, then well spotted. It is Neal Schon. He joined Santana in 1969 at the tender age of 15 during his stay with the band, recorded Santana III in 1971, and this concert with Buddy Miles. Schon also played in Azteca with percussionist Victor Panjota (who played congas in this Santana/Miles concert). In 1973, he left to form Journey, a band that he still leads. Their most recent tour ended in March and another is planned soon.
hey guys, how can i find "Right Now" video or audio from their live performance (santana + miles)? it used to be on youtube but I don't know what happened. Its such a great song with them two
santana a rejoué them changes avec budy miles plusieures fois, mais jamais, même avec la révolution de l'audio, on n'est arrivé à avoir un tel son surtout avec ses merveilleux percissionistes latinos.
This is the one I meant guys! Is it awesome or what? Buddy Miles and Carlos Santana. Why I prefer this version has also a lot to do with the cowbells used on this version. It just gives the song that extra drivin' rhythmic force. Also listen to the track Evil Ways, that's a great one too. Or just do like me: buy the whole album (got it for $2,49 so c'mon!).
Excellent track, what a gig to see, what a co-operation after Jimmy's death. Just reminds me so much of my stoner days....makes me high just listening to this!
Buddy Miles best R&B singer in the universe. RIP

This is great stuff, not to put Carlos down because he is a great guitarist; many of those hot guitar solos you hear is Neal.
