I don't think its a gimmick. jack isn't really a drummer so he never sits down and plays the drum parts. he just records th stuff individually and pieces it together. If they have any gimmick it would be the fact that they record their songs as video songs.

Just because e doesn't traditionally play the set doesn't mean it's a gimmick. A lot of what they are doing is showing the recording process by layers. It makes for a really great and captivating. What they are doing is incredibly complex. Get outside of your "traditional" box so you can see that.

@jockamofeena I don't think it is a gimmick. I think any instrument can be played in all sorts of ways. Each way creates a different sound, maybe the way they play the drums in this song vs how it is played in another, creates a whole different feel for them. However, it could be a gimmick, I could be wrong but from an artists point of view, I can understand how playing like that would change the song in a number of ways. And they don't look dirty...Just not clean cut.

according to the dictionary, the word Talent can describe someone who has special natural ability, which they do have because it does take quite a lot of talent to play so many instruments, or an aptitude for success, which they also have. If you look at the view count, it's over 1 million. that seems quite successful to me.
