just split the case and remove the stopper.its only held on by a phillips head screw...

TO answer many questions.

1: If you have ever taken a PS2 slim apart succesfully, then you can just cover the buttons and contacts internaly instead of putting the tape on the outside, put it on the inside of the hole.

2: The random beeps were most likely a smoke detector on low batteries.

the first part where you tape it to the right i removed completly and covered very neatly with electrical tape ( i put the parts in a dime bag)
