  • ES2. So deep. I am drooling. Thank you for helping me sharpen my Logic shuriken so I can use this tool!

  • hi im a super noob but how u actually open the ES2 windows in logic ??

  • SFLogicNinja U R THE MAN!!!! I LOVE ALL OF UR VIDEOS...THNX 4 ALL THE WONDERFUL, POWERFUL, MOST IMPORTANTLY...FREE INFO!!!

  • Yo , you have helped me so much man - i spent nearly £2000 on a music production course and you have taught me far more than i had learned from them. thank you - you are a legend buddy :)

  • It would have been nice if you could hear the examples better vs. the keyboard clicking.

  • Thanks, this is a great intro. I was wandering if you know how to remove that annoying click it produces at the start of each note.

  • Cheers for this man. I found the ES2 scary when I first saw it :P This really helped

  • Your videos are great. Thank you.

  • I have Logic Express... and for some reason I can't seem to find ES2.... any suggestions??

  • Thanks man very useful and you are a character i was laughing most of the time, "completely unmolested" lmao

  • please can you tell me what's the difference between Logc PRO and Logic Studio??

  • M'kay :-) Nice vid. Thanx

  • thank you very much!

  • dude, this is awesome. you explain every detail in a way that i can totally understand. you translate every single little important detail that i need to know and explain it to me, in a way that i actually get. you have one more subscriber bud.

  • your cool

  • Found this very useful and informative. Strengthened my prior knowledge alot and added also taught me some knew stuff along the way. Thankyou!

  • amazing video as always. but the synth is a bit quiet! not complaining ! just saying love your vids :D

  • and maybe a pretty little tree lives right here....yaaa thats nice.....

  • This was amazing, thank you! I've always felt overwhelmed by the ES2 but I think that's mostly because the default setting was so complicated.

  • this lesson is awesome. I've never understood how this works til now:)

  • unmolested...giggle

  • not quite as scary now indeed. This guy rocks.

  • haha. u look like frank mir

  • that was amazing

  • LOL @ intro :D great. :)

  • Sorry to bother u, does the knob at each occelator effect the intensity of the wave then? I thought the one at occelater 3 detuned the sound. You have helped me alot by the way, thanks!

  • I CANT FIND IT ! :'(

  • Amazing video man. It's awesome how you explain every little detail. All the other tutorial videos expect you to already know what everything does/means. Thanks alot man!

  • I just wanted to say thank you Sflogicninja.....I have looked all over the net for not only an explanation of electronic synthesis that makes sense, but one that specifically ties that analog synth basics with the logic synths, specifically the es1 and es2....I finally got it, the signal path, what each part of it does to the signal, and how each part is represented by the es1 GUI....Awesome... You should get paid for this..

  • Very good explanation of how things work and easy to understand. I feel slightly more prepared for my presentation on ES2 now.

  • lol dope!

  • how are you using iMovie to make this?

  • Can anyone tell me how to load the 'Plain Sine' into ES2

  • 1:45

  • No, he's not got the plain sine loaded, thats the default, look at his top bar.

He only shows how to load an OSC Sine in one of the 3 OSC's

Youtube Search 'Dubstep Wobble Bass ES2' there's a video by the user SoundsLogical, look in his top grey bar - he's got 'Plain Sine'

  • Is there anything in your preset tab? My version of logic did not come with any presets i had to snag them from a friend

  • click on es2 in the mixer bar on the left side of the screen, a group of sounds will appear in your library on the right side of the screen, select bass, and it should be listed as sine bass in the side bar

  • This gives a really good explanation of signal flow through a synthesizer.

  • Very informative Thanks Kat Daddy

  • cool man

  • Oh btw. I learned alot with this vid. I got a novation Nova that I can apply these same techniques too also.

  • lol @ fro

  • It's really sick they are using adds on your videos for Pro Tools when you are talking about logic all the time. Kind of annoying when you are a true supporter of Logic.

  • I've learned alot from these videos thanks!

  • whos playing wii at 8:40?

  • ES2 - pleasure and pain... thank you SFLogicNinja! :)

  • I wasn't able to hear any sounds from the synthesizer. Did you not include them in the video?

  • Whoops. I hear it now. I'm at work and the speakers here are bad. Guess I'll wait to get home.

  • how can i access the es2, do i have to buy separately?

  • It comes with Logic. Not sure if it comes with the "lesser" versions though. Might have to get the expensive one.

  • haha yeah Wii around 8:30

  • Can you people with nice soundsettings put them on sflogicninja's iDisc? I don't want zero default settings, I want wooming sounds and I can't make'em because everything on the ES2 is to small on a MacBook. This piece of in the middle of ES2 where all things happen, it's just to forget about it, no way I can read it, and everything is de-activated. Why they make it so small? we are not insects, we're humans. The programmer had a 23" screen and thought: hey I just schrink everything

  • Hi Mr Ninja,

Gr8 Tutorials. I havent even brought logic Studio yet (I will very soon though) and I'll be looking at intense training tutorials from you. Couple of questions:Have you got your tutorials on dvd in a pack that I can buy? Also do you have you tutorials in some sort of sequence i.e. beginner to intermediate - pro. BECAUSE - I dont know where to begin.

    Please advise.

    Mat in Australia

  • If you've watched SFLogicNinja's video from Tip 1 to this one you've already had an ok start. My suggestion is that you buy the program and just start playing randomly with it, and try to check out all the basic stuffs (all the stuffs you can imagine is possible^^), it is honestly the best start you can get. Don't worry about not understanding it or not being smart enough, just buy the program. Effort and time is all you need ;)

  • I hate it when my nice and pure osc waves are molested!

  • before i make anything on the Es2, I press Alt+click on every parameter..this sets the es2 to it's full default setting. It just gives you a very good starting point.

  • Yeah, I went to the tutorial settings, set everything at a null point, (opt-click), then saved the instrument. That way I don't have to do it every time. Helps a lot! Thanks.

    *bows*

  • Ok, I got it...sorry. Thank you very much for sharing all this! It's awesome!

  • ...and where is the part 2 of this tutorial? The tip #18 talks about sidechain...

  • 8:39 , someone is playing a Wii. : )

  • I love the ES2 synthesizer, mostly because you can make a lot of old-school NES sounding stuff. :D

  • greasy beasty

  • Badass goodies

  • sflogic ninja is the cat

  • great vid very good job

  • Nice hair. love it ;)

  • Thanks so much for these vids mate! I always knew Logic could do much more than I could get out of it but it seemed too complex to figure out. Well done. Especially on the Ultrabeat vids.

  • Been using logic for ages but in the most lazy of manners. Ur vids are exactly what i needed to really get into things properly!

    Well done sir,

    Cheers!

  • ^ +1

  • You are such a great teacher.Your tutorials are a necessity for me.Thank you

  • mmmkej... mmmmkej..

  • nice fro

    haha

  • I feel like when I made a saw wave in OSC2, it effected the sin wave in OSC1. When I tuned OSC1 down, it tuned the pitch down of the saw wave as well as the sine, but when I turned OSC1 off I could hear the saw at proper pitch, but real quiet. I tried to move the square in the triangle over to OSC2, but it doesn't seem to balance things the way I expect it to.

  • YO THX FOR ALL UR TIME PUT INTO YOUR VIDS. THEY HELP ALOT. IF U EVER HAVE A CHANCE, ME AND A FEW OTHERS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE ELECTRO HOUSE BASS SOUNDS... THANKs!!!! - DJSWIFT

  • hi Dave.. is there a Tip #17 "introducing the ES2 part 2"?

  • Really digging all your tips, and I like the way you present them as well haha.. keep it up dude, your tips are well appreciated!

  • Congratulations! You are the first SHITBIRD to comment on my videos! Kudos!

  • i need to ask people a question about logic, this version. How do you sample? say u have a file in itunes, u want to sample a small portion of the song, do you just load it into logic, open it in the edit window, then cut it....or are there more effective ways of sampling. im new to logic, please help.

    - Luke.

  • Tip #2

    *bows*

  • haaa! Just as long as you don't start imagining "happy creatures" living in Logic.

    Thanks for all the vids.

  • Hey man, loving all of the videos.. Could you do something on Glide on the EXS24 please? That would be most helpful. Also the destination bar of the EXS24. Thanks.

  • Master SFLogicNinja I have great news! While I learn a nice trick while trying some features of the ES2 synth. In your lesson you mentioned setting all the router settings to '0'.

The trick is a mouse key combination to quickly set the value. The process it to hold the 'OPTION' Key + LEFT MOUSE click along the vertical axis where you'd like to make the adjusted value.

  • Master indeed!

  • Dave, This is great stuff, Thank you for being so generous!! you are a master.

I would love to see lesson on work flow relating to managing takes/folders/multitracking, etc

Also the score editor and also perhaps one one swithcing from LP7 to LP8 the new features set-up and work flow.

    Thanks so much!!!

  • Great Video im going to try this

  • Hi Dave,

Just wanted to say thanks again or all your work bringing us these videos. They really help a lot. I have a small request if possible. Would you consider naming the video titles with the subject matter? Something like "Tip #17 Rewire" or "Tip #18 Using Software Effects." I think it would make it easier to zero in on specific lessons folks are looking for when searching the video list.

    Thanks again,

    adavis

ps: It was good to see your posts on logicprohelp.

  • Sure. I'll do that. I've changed names a number of times trying to get this right. I usually put the lesson description in the 'About this video', but that doesn't really help...

I'll see what I can get done tomorrow. If you don't see a change by Wednesday, could you message me? Thanks.

Getting busy over here. I'll explain tomorrow.

  • Dave you really know you logic and teach very well.

How about some stuff on running guitars through logic that would really help

  • Dude, you should do all your episode intros at your girlfriend's place with all the paintings as to capture the real essence of Bob Ross!

  • you know... I'll think about it! This is actually the same loft that her studio's in... we have the whole front by the windows dedicated to our art. Her works tend to be a wee bit more edgy than Good 'ol Bob... Not that that's a bad thing! :-) Maybe I'll do some more from her studio. Being in there makes me feel like Picasso or something...

  • Hi Dave I'm learning quite a bit as I'm new to Logic and just bought Pro 8. Your videos are making the puzzle come together.. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos I really appreciate it.

  • Dave, thanks again for your videos. You are one of the bright light of youtube. Thank u so much for your time and knowledge.

  • david logic ninja earl iz da man! boo ya!

  • Thanks Dave Ninja Earl. Can you recommend a place where I can learn how to make sound? Right now I just connect the patch around + turning knobs until it sounds good to me. Would be cool if pyramind offers online classes.

  • Well, we've looked at online class models, and it's not out of the question... but the technology hasn't really reached a point where I feel comfortable teaching online. If there was some kind of direct feedback system, video and such that wasn't too crazy, we'd consider it in a heartbeat. The last system I looked at was pretty cool, but it's gonna be really hard for me to give up that personal interaction. It's SOOOOO much better.

  • Thanks for the helpful walkthrough, this was definitely one of the more intimidating windows I came across when I first started poking around in Logic. It makes much more sense now!

  • woo hooo!!

    this is awesome!

  • Hey David can I just say that as a relative newcomer to Logic you are making learning the program alot easier for me! Keep up the good work.
